I wonder what this next unannounced title is... I've been having this theory that when he meant by "light weight" he probably meant as in the next timeline of this title also taking place before KH3. But I dunno I could be totally wrong

FFvs13 will probably finish end of this year, KH3 starts production early next years. 2 years is enough to make a video game, it was enough for KH2 after CoM.

Even if we have a worst case senario with KH3, we will not see a BBS V2. Maybe a game that tells that story, but not called BBS V2.

 

You know we are in agreement right? Anyway I consider it to go without saying that it would go without saying that the game would not be under the name "BBSV2" in the first place. That is, unless you mean the project to be scrapped while the story is transferred, which seems to be what you clarify latter... so nevermind that last part.

I think a game could be considered "scrapped" or "really scrapped" and from the interviews BBSV2 definitely should not be considered as the latter. Here is everything he said about the game:

Nomura: Well… (Laughs.) Now that you mention it, that secret movie was referred to as “A fragmentary passage”, meaning bits and pieces of something whole. A story connected to Kingdom Hearts exists out of that, but I don’t know whether or not it’ll be told hereafter.

 

 

— At the end of the secret movie for KHBBSFM, an interesting message that said ‘Birth by Sleep -Volume Two’ appeared. Is there a chance that a KHBBS2 will be appearing?

Nomura: It seems that many people thought that, but during that movie there were the words ‘A fragmentary passage’, weren’t there? That means a ‘bits and pieces of something whole’. In short, a story for ‘Volume Two’ exists that ought to be told, but the story cuts off with those scenes. Because of that, I won’t say there is absolutely no chance that we will produce a title to follow KHBBS , but there are no plans as of now.

— In an interview in the KH Days Ultimania, you said ‘I’m thinking of a mystery KH that made the producer go “what??”‘. Was that KH3D?

Nomura: No, it wasn’t. I originally planned to make that after KHBBS, but we ended up making KH3D and the project was stopped. It’s a shame, but we won’t be starting that project again.

 

That project that he mentioned in the Days Ultimania could however be considered "really scrapped" as he explicitly says it won't be started again. With BBSV2 he simply employed his master of vague double negative speak, but ultimately let us know that even if it does come into existence, it won't be in the Xehanort saga.

 

Aside from that nuance, BBSV2 was never meant to add a whole lot to the story. It was repeatedly suggested that this 'mystery game' would tie the story together and not further convolute it. It was to be a side story in every sense of the word, filling in all the little untold pieces between the game Birth by Sleep (aka Volume 1) and its ending in blank points (aka the end of volume 2 and the story of BBS as a whole). The situation obviously has changed and now it seems reduntant if you subscribe to the possibility of and HD collection.

Some things are wrong with that, we will not see KH3 on a handheld console. Also RECODED and 358/2 DAYS will not be part of an HD collection because they are not considered "main" stories. Also, I doubt we will se a HD DDD because the 3DS is not an outdated system. KH3 most likely will come out in 2015 because of FFV13 Square most likely have not started production on KH3 due to FFV13. Since a 2015 release, we can expect the game to be on next gen consoles. Also, Square would loose a whole lot of money if they were to sell the HD games separately. They would sell them together without DDD, DAYS, and RECODED, on XBOX 360 and PS3. Oh yeah, we will not see the HD games early 2013 and we will never see BBSV2.

Nomura would have meet the highest expectations from Disney and fans in that case + fit in another side plot, maybe Aqua before she hits the surface again.
