Dracozombie 4,554 Posted August 10, 2012 Because there's more to being a keyblade master than one's ability to beat stuff up, though it is a prerequisite. Sora nearly fell into darkness and wouldn't have come out of it without Riku's intervention. Sora can't succeed at everything he does. I personally found it interesting how he failed. Despite his exploits, Sora still has growth to do, and he still needs to grow because the series isn't over yet. The MoM was more Riku's development than Sora's. Besides, Sora was cool with failing. He accepted it and left to go train somewhere. 7 Rob, Kirux, Allpro11414 and 4 others reacted to this
Kishira 2,854 Posted August 10, 2012 I like how Sora can take his failing the exam better than his fans. Gold. xDD But yeah, he fell deep into that nightmare rather easily leaving him all comatose for a while...if Sora's heart can be toyed with without much effort, how long can he hope to last in the final battle against Xehanort? He's learned alot from this. He'll catch up to Riku in no time. ;3 12 Zanzetsuken, Kirux, Handsome_the_Wise and 9 others reacted to this

In other words, he got some developement . Lets not forget Leas total badassery in saving Sora from being a vessel Between him and Riku Sora had a lot to be thankful for . 7 Robbie the Wise, Kishira, LightningXIII and 4 others reacted to this

Sora didn't gain this power and there for could not pass the test. Its not like its going to stop him from Keyslinging. Shana09 5,769 Posted August 10, 2012 1) Sora is still a wielder, and technically he didn't end Xemnas all by himself, he had Riku to help. Riku went through darkness and came out of it into the light. Sora nearly fell into darkness. Actually he did and his friend Riku had to come down and SAVE him from the darkness. I think Riku deserves it more than Sora. Sora just beat up guys w/ his friends help while Riku had walked down the road of darkness and came out of darkness and went into the road of dawn/light. 4 Rob, Allpro11414, Xail and 1 other reacted to this

Kirux 1,224 Posted August 11, 2012 I personally am very happy for Riku, with all the crap he's been through he deserves this. He's proven himself on so many levels since the ending of KHI. Yes, he fell to the darkness, but he was strong enough to overcome it and resist it. Sora hasn't been through anything nearly as trying as what Riku has, and frankly Sora has been a plaything of MX since KHI, without ever noticing it. Sora still has a lot of room to grow and mature, and Yen Sid even recognised that he does possess the talent to be a Master. Riku's whole diving into Sora's dreams a second time just sort of took the cake, as it should have., because Riku is made of awesome. Also Riku has always been my favourite so meh. 3 Kishira, Kello and Allpro11414 reacted to this

In fact, Yen Sid says that they both have the power. "A new Keyblade Master, one with a new kind of power. BOTH OF YOU deserve the honor." Axtwyt 500 Posted August 11, 2012 Isn't that deserve followed with a but... "But one of you braved the realm of sleep again." COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SENTENCE. The two statements have little to do with each other. I should think it's also self evident that they both have the power when they both return to the Realm of Sleep. 1 anime10121 reacted to this
Dave 5,715 Posted August 11, 2012 I wouldn't have minded it nearly so much if not for the fact that of the two other main protaganists who are official Keyblade masters, Riku has prior experience with becoming corrupt and sinister (not just being possessed by Ansem. He's running on jealousy and bitterness long before that) and Aqua managed to fail every single task she was given, making it questionable whether or not she's even worthy. And Sora doesn't pass just because he was in a coma? Frankly, I find the mere idea that Sora needs anyone other than Donald and Goofy to try and stop Xehanort to be mildly insulting. hatok 6,413 Posted August 11, 2012 Why does everybody say he failed. Yen Side clearly acknowledges that both he AND Riku pass. He just decided to make Riku a keyblade master 6 Kello, anime10121, Xail and 3 others reacted to this
Kirux 1,224 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) My real question is that where in the laws of mark of masteries does it say only one person can deemed master? Just because Riku did extra, doesn't truly mean Sora needs to be penalised if Yen Sid himself said he deserved it. Okay, Sora saved the world TWICE! Not once but TWICE!!!! He killed 1000 heartless by hiself, he killed two powerful dudes and he failed his EXAM!!!!?? Also; in reguards to the above; Sora beat Ansem, then Riku helped him close the door to darkness to save the world. Sora lost all his memories in CO and had to be put to sleep and Riku was there, after having also been put through CO and having to accept the darkness inside him, to protect him and watch over him. Riku found Roxas and took him to Sora to complete him so he could wake up. Sora beat Xemnas, with Riku's help. In DreamDrop, Sora falls into a chasm of darkness and sleep, and the entire time Riku is there to protect him, and when Sora loses to the darkness Riku dives in to save him, even at the risk of not returning. Riku may have fallen to darkness once, but he overcame it. he is resistant to it. Riku had the strength of will to see his weakness, and it never stopped him. He made himself stronger and never once since KHI has he fallen to darkness again, even though they have tried many, many, times. So yeah...I think Riku deserves it. Dracozombie 4,554 Posted August 11, 2012 Why does everybody say he failed. Yen Side clearly acknowledges that both he AND Riku pass. He just decided to make Riku a keyblade master True, but half of the point of the Mark of Mastery was to see, well, who becomes a master. The other was to gain the power over sleep, which both Sora and Riku did, but only Riku became a master. So Sora only half-succeeded, which is a nice way of saying failure, I suppose. =P

schlosserm 8 Posted August 11, 2012 The title itself of "keyblade master" means nothing, the test was for adquire the powers of the dream worlds... so Yen Sid did good. I am not sure if Sora adquired thats powers but riku did, so he deserves being named as keyblade master. Yen surely will test Sora again.. with Lea *O*.
