ryudra27 14 Posted August 9, 2012 First of all, hey guys I'm new here (hence the lack of picture, sig, etc), and I made an account basically to ask this question, cause it's been bugging me every since I completed DDD. Well, I mean of course I made an account because I love this place, but anyways, on to the question! Ok so, everyone knows Axel/Lea gets a keyblade. That was easily one of my favorite parts of the game. But, I'm just confused on....how? I guess? Like, think of it this way. Terra bequeathed his power to Riku, that's how he's able to use his keyblade. Sora got his power because of Ventus and such. But Axel just kinda went to Yen Sid and said "Hey I wanna know how to wield a keyblade." Like, can it work like that? Can anyone wield a keyblade, or are there certain prerequisites? I always thought you had to be special in someway, but now I'm confused. Do you think that's how Terra, Aqua, and Ven came to wield theirs, just by training? Thoughts would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Col.Random 3,683 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) Look, I got my keyblade the same way Lea did. The magic lies in Yen Sid's beard. Touch it and you too can possess a keyblade. Weiss 8,279 Posted August 9, 2012 Ah a question I think I know the answer to (believe me it does'nt happen often. Ok so how did axel get his keyblade?(you may like to pull up cutscenes for this) 1. In one of the first cutscenes of BBS Terra says something like "As long as you wield a keyblade it's bearer you shall be" (something like that) 2. In ven's story in radiant garden there is a scene where he drops his keyblade (his just so happens to be made of <.< wood) and lea as a kid picks it up for a minute and slices the air with it. I believe that this put with terra's explanation makes it possible. I however don't know how he suddenly realizes he can wield a keyblade in 3d but this is how it seems that he gets it. ryudra27 14 Posted August 9, 2012 Ok I can't (don't want to lol) quote all of you soooo Lololol fanservice, that's as good as my guess I guess! The beard makes total sense. I have one. And it is indeed magical. My goal in life is to get one like Yen Sid. Not really. But it'd be hilarious hahaha. Ok, the whole wooden keyblade thing? That's actually really awesome. Honestly, I don't think it's true, but that just strikes me as a really cool theory haha. I mean, the whole Terra's quote thing makes sense, but that just seems really.....trivial, doesn't it? Like "oh hey wanna wield the strongest weapon in the world? HOLD MY WOODEN SWORD", that kinda sorta thing. And I don't know if you can really call the wooden keyblade an actual keyblade. Ventus would've used it if it was. Or it was too special to him. I don't know, that just doesn't seem right to me. OR Yen Sid did something like that to Lea himself? Yeah, like maybe Yen Sid gave Axel the power and we just didn't see it. Then again, I really hate to conclude something like this with "oh this happened but we just didn't see it" cause that's just boring haha.
xXVentusfanXx 33 Posted August 9, 2012 it all has to do with the heart thats the answer to all possible kingdom hearts question 'the heart'
HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted August 9, 2012 Actually Lea went to Yen Sid to get one so he could travel safely to worlds and have the power to save his friends. Yen Sid is a retired keyblade master and gave him the ceremony and Lea was then sent to train with Merlin and in a special chamber where time doesnt move to help train . However, Leas strong heart was what actually gave him the keyblade since you need a keyblade to choose you and find you worthy after you have the ceremony . This was said directly by Nomura in May 10 Famitsu interview 3 Robbie the Wise, Xian Cano and Col.Random reacted to this

I think if you have a different keyblade on then he picks up that keyblade instead. I don't know for sure though because I always play through these games with the original keyblades. And it could be true I mean heck hearts look like circles of light in this game so yeah. This is however the only explanation anyone has come up with and had many people agree to that makes sense so I go with it. But until Nomura confirms something there is no telling. If he says that lea can wield a keyblade because he ate sea-salt icecream on top of twilight town station then it is LAW. But for now speculation goes on. This is just what makes sense to me. Oh lea's answer would be correct then I guess I chose bad timing to answer Edited August 9, 2012 by Keysofblades

Why/how would he train Lea? Is it just because he's an all-knowing wizard? haha

Oh lea's answer would be correct then I guess I chose bad timing to answer No, Ven's starting Keyblade is the Wayward Wind, the short little grayish green one. He just carried around the wooden one because he got it from Terra, he never actually used it though. However, I got a good laugh at the whole Axel + ice cream + on top of the clock tower = keyblade thing, because with Nomura, it might as wel be true hahaha

KHMasta 9 Posted August 9, 2012 Okay, then explain why Mickey AND Yen Sid were surprised he was able to summon the Keyblade, if they knew they had perform the ceremony onto him?
HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted August 9, 2012 Simple . He had tried summoning it previously and couldnt . It takes time after getting the ceremony to get the keyblade( hence the training in the time chamber ) and thats IF it chooses you . A keyblade must choose you and your heart must be strong and worthy enough. Yen Sid only gave him the ceremony .It doesnt guarentee you a keyblade. Also this is FACT .Nomuras words. May 10 Famitsu interview . Read it . 2 Xian Cano and Robbie the Wise reacted to this

I take this to mean that anyone who has the makings of a keyblade wielder can become one regardless of the ceremony or not.
