AntonioKHT 449 Posted July 29, 2012 Well, a lot of stuff was altered or explained in a different way in TWTNW. All that stuff about Xehanort, the Lights, the Darkness were new ideas based on the other KH games. I didn't noticed any radical cheange personally, but that's why some guys have been most complaining about.

Because all I saw in TWTNW was explanations for plot holes from previous games (Like why the Organization could CLEARLY feel emotion, or why the Organization was antagonizing Sora at all)
Robbie the Wise 5,050 Posted July 29, 2012 I can point out a couple major ones both Xemnas and Ansem sought Kingdom Hearts on their own to become all powerful beings in the main series, Nomura retconned this in DDD by saying they were working together the entire time. There is no way they showed any tendancies of collaborating at any point in the series until DDD. Number two Master Xehanort went out of his way to make sure Vanitas and Ventus became the X-blade and even stated in his own reports that was the way to make it. Now we find out that it required 7 lights and 13 darknesses for someone who planned out 20 years ahead of his intial existence that seems like a huge oversite to make especially for someone as meticulous as Xehanort who had back ups, upon back ups to ensure his plan worked. Nomura even covered that fact up by making him say he was hasty. No one can honestly say that Nomura was planning time travel from the vary beggining in fact nomura has admitted he rushed the plot. Speaking of the previous titles, about when do you start thinking of the ‘next title’? Nomura: It’s a gradual process. When Kingdom Hearts was in production, I was considering ideas for Kingdom Hearts II and Chain of Memories. And when those two were in production, I was thinking of ideas for the next three, 358/2 Days, Coded, and Birth by Sleep. — Were you thinking of KH3D when those 3 titles were in production? Nomura: KH3D was put together relatively quickly, I was still concepting the story when I brought it to the table. Then add in the fact on how the apprentices turned into nobodies in the first place. In KH1 the reports said that the apprentices fell beacuse of their experiments to the heart. However even that was retconned becuse we now know Xehanort stabbed them with the keyblade. I'm not hating on the game I just don't like the fact that Nomura pretty much devalued all previous plot points. 1 ReverofE reacted to this

Xemnas WAS at Hollow Bastion Number two Master Xehanort went out of his way to make sure Vanitas and Ventus became the X-blade and even stated in his own reports that was the way to make it. Now we find out that it required 7 lights and 13 darknesses And he acknowledges how foolish that was in DDD for someone who planned out 20 years ahead of his intial existence that seems like a huge oversite to make especially for someone as meticulous as Xehanort who had back ups,That's science. Getting things wrong is part of the job upon back ups to ensure his plan worked. Nomura even covered that fact up by making him say he was hasty. That doesn't sound like a cover up, it sounds like a reason No one can honestly say that Nomura was planning time travel from the vary beggining in fact nomura has admitted he rushed the plot. No, but he probably planned for it in KH3, at some point, and decided to make this game to set that up Speaking of the previous titles, about when do you start thinking of the ‘next title’? Nomura: It’s a gradual process. When Kingdom Hearts was in production, I was considering ideas for Kingdom Hearts II and Chain of Memories. And when those two were in production, I was thinking of ideas for the next three, 358/2 Days, Coded, and Birth by Sleep. — Were you thinking of KH3D when those 3 titles were in production? However even that was retconned becuse we now know Xehanort stabbed them with the keyblade. hose were ANSEM'S reports, weren't they? Most likely, he found the apprentices being consumed by darkness, and assumed the experiments went awry. Or it could just be that Xehanort was ABLE to do that because they had become corrupted by darkness in the first place. I'm not hating on the game I just don't like the fact that Nomura pretty much devalued all previous plot points. See, the problem here is that everybody treats things in stories as infallible. Hunches MUST be true, the villain must ALWAYS explain his entire plot, and can't be withholding anything.Nothing is really contradicted, as far as I can tell, just explained in a way people weren't expecting. 2 Dracozombie and Pyrrha Nikos reacted to this

Because all I saw in TWTNW was explanations for plot holes from previous games (Like why the Organization could CLEARLY feel emotion, or why the Organization was antagonizing Sora at all) Trying less "Spoiler" Sorry. But like you said, they changed the dact that nobodys actually grew hearts, and have them. Before they didn't have hearts, but like you clearly said they accted like they did. That affects what they said before about Roxas holding half of Sora's strengh, since he has his own heart. also, Roxas is being hinted to return, how would they do that? it'll be hard to explain how that won't affect Sora. There are other examples, like if they knew exacly everything that would happen, why didn't they stop Sora? Or Roxas?

I kind of saw it coming, honestly.Roxas has half of Sora's strength, and him becoming whole would probably have an effect on Sora, but since Roxas seems to have grown his own heart, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say he could become a real person. Replika body perhaps? As they said, immobile, they can't change what is meant to happen.
SquareSora 133 Posted July 29, 2012 no one should really complain about anything. if they like the game then go ahead play it. but if you dont, then dont start complaining about stuff online. just dont play it. whoever has complains about it.

Master Juan 574 Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) This isn't really a retcon, but one thing that I find a little bit sloppy with DDD is that Square Enix introduced Birth by Sleep after the first and second KH games, and a main part of DDD is based off this (spoiler* MoM exam, if you didnt know already), and it seems like they are just taking ideas from this game and adding it on top of the already complicated plot, and they are essentially just recycling villains now with new intentions, and making them do things you would have never expected. Ex; mentioned in a comment earlier Xemnas and Anesem collaborating together. Don't get me wrong, I love the KH series, but in all honesty, it seems like Square Enix is just introducing games into the plot just to progress the story, which also progresses profits. KH BBS was pretty much set up to make you purchase the other games to understand what happened to the characters. Don't get me wrong I love Kingdom Hearts though, and I have KH 3D preordered. AntonioKHT 449 Posted July 29, 2012 That is true. But mistakes are bound to happen, since Nomura didn't plan the hole series when he did KH1. What I want is that he gives us good explanations, and an exciting KH story, which he did on KH3D. I liked it a lot, and even though there are mistakes, I loved it. KH3 will be awesome, you can bet (unless Pixar movies start ruling Kh, I don't reallt want that), because they came up with excellent plot and background in this game. So that's it, KH is the best series ever, and KH3D is no different, it's as awesome as other KH games, and I want it so badly as other fans. The games makes up by being awesome, so just play it you guys =D
