So in the Realm of Sleep they weren't in the past, they were just dreaming and since they are from Destiny Islands their dream turned out this way because they didn't remember what happened in the Real world. I know that they weren't in the Realm of Light because when Ursula appears Sora says "Is this the test" so their not in the past (somehow they are in the past but only through a dream.). wait...does that mean that every scene with MYS is a flash-back?? No only the cutscenes where MYS explains the exam and background stories such as the keyblade war etc. Normally it's suppose to be written flashback when you get one of these cutscenes.
