KH3D explain the drop system please

to anyone who has played or know what it is can you explain the whole drop thing? i see riku and sora switching every few minutes and it kinda bothers me that it switches up so often. maybe its just me but id rather play through one part and then play through the other.

As you play through the levels and fight enemies, the bar will slowly fall. When it empties, you switch to the other character, thus keeping their stories in synch with each other. You can also access the pause menu to drop into the other character at any time.

It isn't really every few minutes, it depends on the rate of the drop gauge, a usual time I've heard is about 20 minutes each. They did this because in BBS you play through one story and you get a pretty good idea of what happens, in this instance you kind of pace with both characters.

 

Some things can make it go quicker, like if a nightmare dream eater uses sleep on your character. (You can also auto drop, but it isn't recommend, keep the stories semi-close to each other)

 

Don't worry, you'll get used to it :)

ok that makes sense but im hoping they dont continue that to much character switching. i personally like the way CoM did it but hey beggars cant be choosers i like kh anyway.

I doubt they would do that...the drop gauge fits in with DDD's story. If anything in the future (if multiple characters are used) you'll go up to a certain point in the story, and then switch.

Combat and exploring, it adds some creative ways to fight and the enviornments are huge areas, so it makes it faster to get around. (with styyyyleeee)

ehhhhh to a certain point I suppose you could but Sora and Riku's stories intertwine very often (surprisingly) so it would be wise to not play as one a lot more than the other...plus you get an extended time with the other character when you play as one (drop points) and your dream eaters are shared.

You still drop normally and when you come back to the character you and the boss have full health again

When you come back to the fight your HP is filled back up and so is the boss'

But i have a question. If i'm doing a boss fight and the drop gauge empties will i continue the fight as Riku? I mean is there going to be a different storyline for Sora and Riku or will it be the same?

They technically have different stories, so say you start to play as Sora then you drop, you begin as Riku, then drop again and continue where you left off with Sora. So no you wouldnt continue the boss as Riku, you continue where you left off with Riku.

No, i got the game today and it works like this : When the bar falls down to zero you'll automatically drop, if you want to drop back (or just drop at any time you want) You can go either to you're pause menu and touch DROP or go to a save point.
