TV Teen Titans GO!

Beware the Batman isn’t the only new addition to the DC Nation block; Teen Titans Go!is also in the pipeline. Producers Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath were at Comic-Con to discuss the new animated series, and they were quick to point out that it’s different from the original Teen Titans animated series. It’s comedic and has absolutely no ties to its predecessor except for the characters (and the actors voicing them) and won’t necessarily follow any continuity established with the characters in that show.

Jelenic explains, “This series basically takes those core characters. We’re going to have the same voice cast, the same characterization as the original Teen Titans and we’re putting them in new situations, primarily comedic situations. There’s almost zero fighting. If they are fighting, they’re fighting over stuff like who gets to make a sandwich. They use their powers, but they use them primarily in a comedic way. And also Robin is kind of made the fool in this series. He’s the only guy who doesn’t have superpowers, so that’s a big insecurity for him.”

Given the changes and that Teen Titans have some pretty dedicated fans, Horvath said, “We’re terrified of what the hardcore fan base is going to think. There’s no continuity. In fact, the marching orders were this is not that series. We’re not linking up. Even if we tried, our tone is so different it wouldn’t match up.” Jelenic knows some fans will be disappointed but offered this reassuring viewpoint: “What I really think the appeal of the old show was is the five main characters and how they interacted. That is definitely carried over. Those five characters were made for sort of a sitcom format. They’re sort of old friends, and that’s what we’re trying to go for. We’re trying to go for a bunch of people’s first year at college sort of tone.” They’re all living together away from adult supervision. Hijinks will ensue.

They producers said they've definitely been influenced by the New Teen Titans shorts that have already appeared in the DC Nation block but added that even those are too inside. Viewers won’t need to know anything about the DC universe to enjoy the show. As opposed to Jelenic, Horvath doesn’t have a comic book background. His background is with MAD TV. They were intentionally paired to play off each other. Horvath says one reason he’s involved is because they knew he wouldn’t be precious about jokes. Jelenic reinforced that: “They want to stay away from being too loyal to these old shows. They don’t want someone from the old show to put in a joke that only they would get. Aaron has no loyalty.” He can look at the universe with a fresh perspective.

As far as the format, the show will consist of two 11-minute stories, a la Adventure Time and Regular Show. They will be self-contained and there won't be any themes or overreaching arcs that stretch across the season. Horvath teased, “We don’t believe in themes.”

At the panel, Jelenic and Horvath reviewed the above and confirmed they won’t be pulling characters from outside the Titans-verse just yet. They’ve got plenty to keep them busy. Jelenic said, “We want to mostly stick to the characters the old show had; I don’t think we’re going to be bringing in outside characters. There will just be a couple of exceptions.” Trigon will definitely appear. They also teased some images of the Titans' apartment, and the humorous tone shined through in the art.

Teen Titans Go! will join DC Nation in 2013

Sooo yea apparently this is the new direction they're taking with the show now, i'm ok with the whole comedy theme but seriously? No fighting villains at all? That basically defeats the purpose of this show right there! *sigh* but anyways what do you guys think about this?

wouldn`t bet on it.

who?

Jason Todd is a fictionalcharacter that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. Jason first appeared in Batman #357 (March 1983)[3] and became the second Robin, sidekick to the superheroBatman, when the previous Robin (Dick Grayson) went on to star in The New Teen Titans under the moniker ofNightwing.

Though initially popular, following a revamping of his origin by Max Allan Collins, the Jason Todd version of Robin as written by Jim Starlin was not well received by fans. For 1988's Batman: A Death in the Family storyline, DC Comics held a telephone poll to determine whether or not the character would die at the hands of the Joker, Batman's arch nemesis. The character was killed off by a vote of 5343 to 5271. Subsequent Batman stories dealt with Batman's guilt over not having been able to prevent Jason's death. However, in 2005's "Under the Hood" story arc, the character was resurrected, eventually becoming the second Red Hood and assuming a new role as an antihero who resembles Batman in many ways, except with a willingness to use lethal force and weapons.[4]

In June 2010, Jason was featured in Red Hood: The Lost Days, a six-issue miniseries to coincide with the release of the DC animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood. The story, written by Judd Winick, concentrated on Jason's lost years of globe-trotting and training after his death and resurrection before his return to Gotham.

DC Comics announced in June 2011 that Jason would lead a group of antiheroes in the monthly series Red Hood and the Outlaws, which debuted in September 2011.[5]

*flashes back*

At this point I'd say I'm very nervous about how this will end up... but hey, one of my favourite shows is coming back, with the same voices, and members of the team behind the original Teen Titans.

How bad can it be?

If only I knew...

I honestly didn't mind the shorts as much as everyone else did, but everything about this rubs me the wrong way. We like TT because of the characters, yeah, but also because of the solid writing, the amazing story arcs, the drama the show had the potential for, and yes, the strong sense of humour. I'll give this show a shot, but THIS is the Teen Titans I want to see again:

The trolls are beginning to spread through the anime and cartoon world now. They have made their mark on the Internet, and now they make their way through the TV world like an epidemic.

Oh and this too:

You know what? Screw it. It's the goddamn Teen Titans, so I'll give it a shot.

But, if it blows....I'm sending as much hate-mail and spam as humanly possible.

I'm reminded of how badass Red X is.....and he reminds of Vanitas because of the badassery(but of course X came out first so its the other way around).

We'd better find out who Slade and Rex X are >_>

Red X is Robin's darkness.....i kidding.

tutti frutti. I SOOO wish that they just continued with the series from where it left off, instead of leaving us with a crazy cliff hanger. And the thing that I don't get is why is it that the creators either stop in the middle of the series, or end up ruining the series in some way? Nothing against the Teen Titans, but I'm still skeptical about watching this series.
