I have no problems with Kairi. I don't get the crap she gets for her character.... But anyways, here's my thoughts on her throughout the series.... KH1: Nice girl...but WHA?!! Dracozombie 4,554 Posted July 11, 2012 The crap she gets from everyone generally boils down to people whining about her uselessness because she can't fight and someone always has to bail her out. Smarter haters dislike how the importance of her character doesn't match her development. Me? For the person who's supposed to be the most important person of Sora's life, I don't know her like I do most of the other characters. She's kind and she does what she can for her friends, and that's pretty much it. Thing is, that describes all the other main characters for the most part, so the only thing that makes her stand out is her being a Princess of Heart--which doesn't get explored as much as it could be. She feels more like the friend of a friend, someone I only know on a superficial level. No matter how much I don't care for her, though, I refuse to side myself with the haters, if only because they have way too much fun at her expense. I don't have many thoughts on Kairi, but here they are: KH1: The chick who hangs out with the two guys. Turns into vegetable. Guys go to great lengths to save her, though technically she was safe the whole time. Is apparently special. CoM: N/A KH2: Sick of waiting around so she tries to do something about it. Proactivity gets her in trouble. Way to handle her character, game. Days: N/A BBS: Okay, you're pretty cute. Coded: N/A DDD: I have hope for you. I really do. Please do not disappoint. Bottom Line: Her contributions to the plot are passive, but that makes her boring compared to the other characters, whose contributions are all active. It may be because I played KH1 when it first came out, but there's no KH for me without her. The trio is just beautiful, balanced, and just so much better together. Words can't even describe... The trio should always be the driving force for KH. We ought to want them to be together. That's why I've been so sad at how Nomura's been neglecting her character lately. I mean, with what the games have been about, it does makes sense. But he could have so easily shown when Kairi arrived in DI in BbS and had a trio moment there. He also could have shown her supporting Sora and Riku during their MoM, and so on and so forth. And personally, part of me thinks that time constraint and disc space is what's keeping her out of the games lately. Were it not for that, maybe she would have been playable in 3D. Who knows? I can't believe Nomura planned/plans to just keep her a wall flower forever. Kairi's just so great and has so much potential! I know people will argue this, but I think Kairi is the glue that holds the three together. She's their reason for a lot of what they do, and is why the trio works (see the KH2 scene where Kairi recognizes Riku first and makes him stay with her and Sora). Hopefully Nomura will develop Kairi more in the future (and I have high hope he will now), but it's just depressing how some of this fandom treats her. A lot of people hate her for no reason whatsoever. Given some character development, I think Kairi could be a very valued character in the series. Maybe even the best female character. The problem is we just don't know a lot about her. If we could just really see her... If we could get her thoughts and views on what's happened (she has been through a lot)... If we could just see her prove herself, I think Kairi could finally be redeemed in the fandom's eyes. Just toughen her up like you did Yuna and Serah, Square! It's the "Memory of Sadness" scene or whatever. You know, that scene has been getting a lot of attention lately. It was in Coded, the Zero Point secret ending in BbSFM (not to mention the original KH1 trailer)... I wonder what it all means. I hope that it might mean we might get some sort of partial Kairi game. I mean, there were three scenes in Zero Point that had her and even could be argued from her PoV. I would love a Kairi game so much! And with all that we know now, I could see it happening. I bet if nothing else, Kairi might be the tutorial character in KH3. That way, Nomura won't have to come up with an excuse to send Sora back to level 1 again. Maybe it'll be like what they did with Roxas; where whatever level you're at with her is what level you are when you start as Sora. I honestly don't see why so many people hate her. Maybe its cuz she gets a bit of a Princess Peach role... and the she's a princess too. More screen time is needed. But I think she is very caring and loyal to her friends, she's kindhearted and very courageous and does what she can to help her friends. ("new replies" ff- format... ) KH1: She hated the idea leaving Hollow Bastion without Sora and Riku and the idea of staying behind in Traverse Town while Sora was fighting but respected Sora's wishes and stayed behind even though she was worried about both him and Riku. COM: She constantly worried about Sora and Riku being out somewhere and waited on the shore for someone to appear. KH2: Even though loosing some of her memories she still remembered there being someone else besides Riku she was waiting for. She had faith that they would be alright and come home soon. But she got impatient waiting and she took the first opportunity she got to find them. She begins to voice her dislike to waiting around and being useless a little. "This time I'll fight!" And she finally wields a Keyblade for the first time. She insisted on coming with them when they fought Xemnas (of course her and Mickey kinda got left out during that fight).
