mfampait 49 Posted June 17, 2012 I challenged my friend to a one-on-one battle on Pokemon Black and White, he uses a Poliwrath and I use a Marowak. We're both going to train them to level 100 and then battle. I'm probably screwed because Poliwrath is water type and Marowak is ground but I figure if I give him a thick club and have him learn double edge, which seeing as he has the rock head means it'll be really powerful and won't damage marowak. I might also have him learn double team because if i use that then it means he'll basically never hit me and I'm free to use double team as many times as I want. Aerial ace would be useful too because it's super effective against water types. I don't know what to do for his last move though. If you could give me any advice you have no idea how thankful I would be.

That's where he gets his weakness to Flying moves, his Fighting type, not his Water Type. And as for the last move, I advise Earthquake. Great Base Power, and it gives STAB with his type and Thick Club gives him a boost on his Attack.
AnsemTheWise 1,114 Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) I actually taught my Marowak Thunder Punch in Silver, but I'm not sure if it can learn any electric attacks in BW... wait, I have the book. *leaves* Stupid BW book, only having a Unova Pokedex. *looks for Platinum book* Screw it. I'm looking online. #justwokeup If you're breeding this Marowak just for this fight, you can teach it Sunny Day and Aerial Ace via TM. Double-Edge would be pretty good, but I'd recommend using Sunny Day instead of Double Team. Edited June 17, 2012 by AnsemTheWise
NightfallXIII 68 Posted June 17, 2012 I say you should use an electric type or flying type pokemon.
mfampait 49 Posted June 17, 2012 so what, double edge, aerial ace, and earthquake? oh and sunny day nah, i'm mainly using marowak because, 1. he's my favourite and 2. it's a type disadvantage so it'll be even more impressive when I win
XIIISwords 1,059 Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) -IMPORTANT NOTE- Earthquake will always be stronger than Aerial Ace. Let's look: Aerial Ace- 60 BP x2 (Super-Effective)= 120 BP Earthquake- 100 BP x1.5 (STAB=Same Type Attack Bonus)= 150 BP Earthquake should be the only offensive move you use if it's only his Poliwrath you are versing. Marowack is frail, so one hit may take him out. You'll likely not have enough time to set up, and you'll need to rely heavily on luck. I'd also pack Protect, just for scouting purposes. An alternate option if you have LG/FR is to teach Marowack Counter, then give him a Focus Sash. This may be the only way to win, barring misses. Other ways include Perish Song (With a Focus Sash) and then hoping that Protect works two turns in a row, but that's a tie. Considering that Marowak's in NU and Poliwrath's in RU, that's the best set that Marowak can run. 1 XIIISwords reacted to this
