What got you interested in KH? How did you discover it?

Recommended Posts

How I discovered KH was a few years back when I was around seven (I'm now 14), my best friend came over my house, and he brought over some of his PS2 games. We were playing through them all 'till we came across his KH2. I was like "Woah, this game has Disney, and spikey-haired characters from japan! Let's play this!" (I had no what anime/manga were back then lol) So, I was hooked on this game, so we played this all day, and we got to the part where Roxas meets Kairi, then my friend had to leave. I thought; "I have to look this game up, and find out more!" So, I looked up the game, and I bought all the games that was already out which was KH1 2 and CoM, I even saved up for a GBA to get CoM! And ever since then, I became a devoted fan to KH by buying and playing all the games, and systems they were on, and keeping up with the story and all that. And the rest is history! http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png If it wasn't for my friend, I probably would never have found out about KH, manga/anime, and get the inspiration to make my own manga! He'll always be in my heart, and he's my brother... from another mother! lol

So, what's your story? How'd you discover KH, and why were you interested in it?Posted Image

Well, when I was six I first saw trailers for Chain of Memories. Then, a few years later, I saw trailers on T.V. for Days, and then I recognized the name "Kingdom Hearts" and I looked stuff up about it. Later I made a friend who happened to love Kingdom Hearts, and we both got Days, which was awesome. The end.

I first got into the Series when my older brother got Kh2 from Blockbuster for me to play on my Ps2. When I read about it having Disney characters, the keyblade, heartless, etc, I go into playing it. Have been a fan ever since Kh2's release.

My cousins introduced it to me when I was younger, and later my younger sister bought days. I played through it and really enjoyed it. I think what got me hooked was when I bought recoded and then found out about dream drop distance.

I was at my cousins house sometime right after the first Kingdom Hearts game came out, and she let my little brother have a level. He got to Wonderland, and then it sort of died off and we completely forgot about its existence until about 2008, when the same brother and myself got into a say-the-most-random-thing-you-can-think-of contest. He had the upper hand, when I suddenly had this vague memory of jumping onto giant mushrooms. I yelled "SORA!" and my brother did this HUGE double take, after which we sat in silence for a moment. He asked me if I remembered who that was. I said yes.

Needless to say, I won the contest.

The next week I saw my cousin, and asked if she still had the game, and if we could borrow it. She said I could have it. We played through it, mutually agreed that it was poetry, and are now huge fans. BEST COUSIN EVER!

Before the release of Kingdom Hearts, I owned a copy of Final Fantasy X. I do not know if America had it, but in UK-land, FFX came with a bonus disc called Final Fantasy Beyond. Essentially it shown all the Final Fantasy games, the behind the scenes stuff, interviews with the actors of Tidus and Yuna, etc. What caught my eyes were the trailers of Kingdom Hearts. There were a couple and I thought it was turn-based. Turns out it was action RPG, which weird me out because I'm so used to and still in love with turn-based RPGs.

Anyway, when it came out, I rented it from Blockbusters. I loved it, waited until Christmas and got it as a present. Became a fan from 2002 to 2006. The release of Kingdom Hearts II made me bitter and 358/2 Days made me outright angry. Fell back in love with Birth by Sleep and stuck with it since. I played Final Mix+ with an English Patch and I liked KHII much more in its FM+ incarnation. Sure, a lot of design flaws are there, but a new difficulty and extra scenes, drive form, etc. made the game much stronger.

I have a love/hate relationship with the series as a whole. But then, relationships are like that?

I had known about Kingdom Hearts since the day it was released. I didn't have a playstaion at the time of it's release though, so I forgot about it. Then about 7 years later I saw a commercial for 358/2 days on tv. I could finally check the series out because I owned a DS. After playing through 358/2 days I was hooked and I have followed the series ever since.

I don't remember how old I was but I do remember that I bought KH1 off my brothers friend, im pretty sure my brother said that there were disney characters in it and it caught my attention. And after i started playing it I immediately fell in love with the game! and Kairi

I never got CoM for the gamboy though and Re.CoM wasn't released in Sweden, So later I found out that Kingdom Hearts 2 had been released for the PS2, and my birthday happened to be around.... so I asked my mom if we could order it in time for my birthday, which we could and it happened to arrive before my birthday so I was like "Mom can I play my game?" and she was like "Hell yeah, son" Okay, she probably didn't say that... But! I did get to play it and i was a very, very VERY happy little viking. And the rest is somewhat history.

My best friend introduce me to KH when I was 11. Then my first KH game was COM for GBA when I was 12, because I was more inteerested in hanheld gaming. By playing COM first, I didn't understand it much until I play KH1 a year later and loving it. By then, I have loved the series ever since.

Saw it in Playstation Magazine around 2001 and being a fan of FF and Disney I was interested in it. I got KH1 on the NA release day ten long years ago and have loved the series ever since.

Basically my mom bought KH1 for my cousin as a christmas gift and asked me if I though he'd like it, I just looked at the cover and said "ew who would like this game about some spiky haired kid with big feet running around with donald and goofy with a giant key" Little did I know though that when I actually picked up the game some years later that I would be playing it and playing it again having a hard time putting it down haha. After that I kind of stopped playing KH though until Days came out, and that only furthered my love for the series and really got me back into it. So yea.
