Amon 4,279 Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) Today on June 6th, 1944 Thousands of American, British, and Canadian soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy France to liberate western Europe from Nazi oppression. Basically, the guys in this picture are the reason why you Europeans aren't speaking German right now. Other than you Germans, who weren't all douchebags in WWII. So, you guys should totally stop calling Americans fat, saying Brits have bad teeth, or that Canadians are...whatever you people call Canadians. Switzerland 8 Posted June 7, 2012 I took a moment of silence for D Day. If there are any veterans here, I just want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart. 1 Amon reacted to this

Amon 4,279 Posted June 7, 2012 i Have a friend at school and says happy d-day on june6 It is a joyous occasion as D-Day was the beginning of the end for the Nazi's but, due to the sacrifice needed to make it happen it isn't something your exactly supposed to celebrate. Weedanort 8,786 Posted June 7, 2012 Thank God Portugal didn't get involved in this. Our ditactor back then was pretty smart: he gave weapons, ammo and supplies to both allies and nazis, without ever entering in combat.

Wait, you are glad that your dictator helped supply the nazis who were committing mass genocide and crimes against humanity ? That he didnt have the balls to take a stand and pick a side ? Hitler wouldve overtaken your country as well regardless if it suited his needs. Thats what he was doing, attempting to take over the world .Wow just wow ... 1 TheApprenticeofKingMickey reacted to this

The nazis didn't get to Spain, if they wanted to conquer us they would have to conquer Spain first. And Hitler supported Salazar, he wasn't going to invade us. And Salazar only helped the allies because of England's ultimatum in the beggining of the 20th century. I say that it was a smart move of his, because if he only helped the nazis, the allies would have attacked us. Since we helped both, we weren't attacked. He wouldve eventually gotten there. He was trying to take over the world . Some leaders were hidden supporters thinking they wouldnt be ousted when Germany inevitably made their way there . You dont help a country who is committing mass genocide and crimes of humanity to save your own ass. Whats that say ? Think about it . Nothing to be proud of . Call me a coward if you want, but saving our butt by helping both sides was one of the best choices made by him. Portugal was pretty miserable back then, we were still recovering from a financial crisis. To make sure that we weren't going to be attacked by the nazis, he helped Hitler, and to make sure we wouldn't be attacked by the allies, he helped the allies. And when did I say that I was proud of it? A lot of us (my great grandfather for example) wanted to join the allies, but the PIDE didn't let them (PIDE stands for International Police of the State)

If all of you have problems about the so called "sacrifices", it's not me you should blame. I'm just expressing my opinion, and I'm not the only one that thinks like this.
