DARKSIDE: THE BATTLE BEGINS

Recommended Posts

"Well, I found this journal by the wreckage. And I kinda threw it at it to distract it so I could kick it in the groin to save Nessa. Instead, it dropped her, took the journal, and flew off. And I've been regretting not throwing the wallet ever since. Man, was that a fail," Night said all in one breath. And so, here we are. He again looked at Allison. "And don't think that killing it will be easy. It can block attacks with needles, shoot fireballs, and make loud noises. I got burns worse than 3rd degree! Let me tell you, this thing is one mean mother."

"Silver knives? Good choice." Hawk had to admit.

His hat covered his eyes, but he smiled back at Nessa.

He sniffed through the air....

"That scent again...."

He held the crossbow even narrower to his eye to make his aim perfect. suddenly he stopped.

He threw the cigarette that he just finished on the ground and walked over it.

"Sorry" he whispered.

"Wait it is a wolf with wings, blocks attacks with needles, shoot fireballs, and make loud noises, that sounds so much like a wolfternia. They are supposed to be these terrible monsters that attack whenever they fell that something close to them is threatened. They also can make two realities become one, so that much explain how Jarry has one memory and you guys have another. I thought they were only myths, legends, storybook creatures." Alison said.

Nessa shrugged at Alison. "Not anymore." Nessa looked at the blood, then into the woods. "How long is this trail?" she mumbled.

"Please dont say a half eaten me, I dont want to see myself dead." Jarry said.

After a long walk, they were at the end of the trail. The trail ended at a log cabin that was in a huge tree. "A tree house cabin? Why in the world does the trail end here?" Jarry asked. "Maybe this is where the wolfternia's lair is. I once read that they were monsters at night during storms or during a full moon, and human during all the other times." Alison said.

"So it was a werewolf after all... I knew my family wasn't insane, hunting phantoms for all that time...

Or is that winged wolf that what we thought to be a werewolf all along..."

-Wings..- Hawk thought..

-Bats have wing too... is that thing a mix out of both?-

He chuckled

-Werepyre... pfff..."

Hawk calmed down again, and got serious.

"I won't wonder if we find the corpses of ourselves..."

Hawk shivered thinking about finding his own corpse.

Hawk aimed at Night without looking at him.

"Don't you get it?" He said with a quiet tone.

"This is serious, the thing up there could threaten humanity... I saw how it blocked your knifes, how it regenerated it's wounds from my silver dagger... I don't think a bullet or even a missile could stop it."

Then Greyson fixed the crossbow at his back and started climbing the ladder.

"Just be quiet and we all will be fine..." He whispered.

Night followed Hawk up the ladder. "Fine, we'll do it your way," he said. But inside he knew Hawk was right. 'This is serious,' he thought. "Hawk, if this thing is a wolf, wouldn't it smell us coming? Don't you think that this is just a little too easy? I mean, we find an obvious trail of blood that leads us here, and now we're climbing up a ladder and haven't met any resistance yet. There's something wrong here."

"Well considering it is daylight and sunny outside, the monster should just be in human form, and I dont think its here anyways." Alison said climbing the ladder after Hawk while Jarry followed. "So it should be safe enough for now, I think." Jarry said.

"I'm still not convinced," Night said. "And 'should' is the key word there. What if it isn't? What if, we're walking into a trap? If it knows that we have a monster expert (Alison) who's read books, and it's using the possibility that the books are crap to it's advantage?"

"Don't forget you have the grandchild of the world's best vampire Slayer and werewolf hunter in the team." Hawk smiled.

"Also I've showered in holy water... According to my father's study undead don't smell it... well I don't know about werecreatures....."

As he arrived at the top of the treehouse he quickly jumped in, pulling out his crossbow and aiming in the room.

It was loaded with blessed silver stakes.

Nessa climbed up the ladder, trying to get a glimpse of the house before she got inside. Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down...

"Well, if it is trap, what do you suppose we should do?" When she reached the top, she flipped out her knives, and looked around the cabin. It wasn't as huge as it had looked from below, but something might be lurking in it.

Alison lift her sword in a ready position. "I will." Alison said. She opened the door and walked inside first. Inside were files and files of papers with notes on them. In the middle was a desk that looked like it could be used to write more stuff down on a paper. There were no signs of a monster, no blood, no bones, no nothing. "Weird, there is nothing in here but research notes." Alison said.

'Ha! Beat out by a girl!' Draco chuckled. Unable to contain it, Night yelled "Shut up! I'll go in like a man!" And with that he charged into the house, slipped and fell on his face like a fail "Ooooowwwww,' he groaned.

Hawk helped Night up.

"Concentrate... it could come back again..."

Hawk was still holding up the heavy crossbow with just one hand.

"Should we skim through those sheets?" He asked.

"Sure, why not? Couldn't hurt." And then Night picked up the nearest pile of sheets and locked himself in the bathroom. A faint "Aaaahhhh" could be heard from it.

"Well we will never see that pile of papers again. Now there has to be one paper here that will give us a clue about this creature." Alison said. She went through all the papers with Jarry and then Jarry finally found something. "I think this file is what we want. It seems like the bio of this creature, but it doesnt state who the person behind the animal is." Jarry said going through it.

A loud flush came from the bathroom and Night walked out with an accomplished look on his face. "I found nothing." Then he slammed the papers back on the table. "See if you can." He grinned. "I'm gonna go raid the fridge for a so- I mean, to see if I can see what the monster eats." And then Night ran to the kitchen.

"Why did we bring him again?" Hawk asked without looking up as he was skimming through the papers.

He liked Night, but he didn't take things serious at all.

Then he had to smile thinking about him.

Greyson put aside the papers and enlightened a cigarette.

"So... Jerry? Can I see the bio?"

"Here." Jarry said handing him the papers. "Okay, I think I am going to go check upstairs, dont do anything without me." Jarry said. He then walked upstairs to see if he could find anything more. Alison went into a back door to find even more.

Night looked through the fridge. "Oh, come on, no soda! I don't even know what this stuff is!" He held up a bottle of yellow-brown liquid. He opened up and sniffed. "Smells funny, too..." He put it back on the fridge. 'What did I find out?' he thought. 'Well, it likes to eat animals, and I found an eyeball and an arm. And some wierd liquid.' He went back to Hawk to tell him about his findings.
