mfampait 49 Posted May 25, 2012 for the past few weeks (possibly months i'm not even sure anymore) I've been having some serious sleep problems, i try to go to bed at a decent time, like 10 or 11 but i just end up spending hours in bed, and only getting to sleep around 2 or 3am. it's really starting to become a nuisance, especially because I keep waking up an hour late by accident and I have to rush like hell to get ready for school, and then I'll spend ages resting my head on the desk because I'm so tired. I've also been taking these drops my mum's got that you're supposed to take just before going to bed but they make absolutely no difference and I just lye awake thinking about random crap. It might just be the pressure of exams but to be honest I never really get stressed and I'm generally a really chilled out guy Anyway, if anyone's got any tips on how to get to sleep it would be much appreciated and thanks in advance

Koko 3,944 Posted May 25, 2012 I drink green tea because it relaxes me or a cold glass of water before bed and I stretch and loosen up. It's worked for me. 1 Lt Ultima reacted to this
Queen Tery 4,591 Posted May 25, 2012 It sounds like you somehow got into a bad sleep schedule. Your body is use to falling asleep late and waking up late. Then you get your rest at school, or at least that's what it sounds like. So, by the time you try to go to bed, you're no longer tired. You need to find a way to not wake up late and not sleep during class. Then you will be insanely tired at night and you should be able to fall asleep. I could be completely wrong, but that's what it sounds like.
Roxie 71 Posted May 25, 2012 I sing before bed, bc singing makes me tired, although sometimes I get yelled at. But that was when I had school the next day. But I don't know about now.
Rob 5,571 Posted May 25, 2012 When you are laying down in your bed, close your eyes, then count to yourself...."1 Kingdom Hearts, 2 Kingdom Hearts, 3 Kingdom Hearts, 4 Kingdom Hearts", and so on. President Yoshi 313 Posted May 25, 2012 ohhh man that happened for me too! but that was like two months ago. i usually just wait it out or simply stay awake untill i feel sleepy. you can also read a book that you enjoy (for me it's "the 39 clues") if you get atleast 2 days of sleeping regularly, then i think you wont have trouble sleeping anymore
Yang 1,859 Posted May 25, 2012 I sometimes listen to kingdom hearts music if i can't sleep and it knocks me out like a light.
mfampait 49 Posted May 25, 2012 i'm actually considering just not going to sleep tonight so that tomorrow night i'll get to sleep easily. But tomorrow's my last day of school ever and I'd rather not be a zombie for the entire day

deathrebirthsenshi 279 Posted May 25, 2012 I have the same sleeping problems luckily I'm smart enough to sleep through class and the teachers love me and don't care. I sometimes listen to kingdom hearts music if i can't sleep and it knocks me out like a light. See, that does the opposite for me. I get caught up in the awesomeness and then I can't sleep. Usually I have to listen to boring music to make myself sleep
A mystery 346 Posted May 25, 2012 I would reccommend a nice hot bath and taking long soothing breaths to get you relaxed. Also try to relax every muscle in your body and do not use any electronics 1 hour before your bed time. Sweet dreams.

Xenidal 36 Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) If you really think you're having some sort of sleep problem then go see a doctor. Personally, I don't think that you have a sleep problem at all. You're probably just not tired... and by laying in bed then it is actually causing you to stay awake even longer. If instead of you even attempting to go to sleep at 10 or ll if you waited until like 12 then that might help (or maybe not... but I think it's quite pointless to lay in bed doing absolutely nothing for 4 hours straight...) As for waking up late... do you have an alarm clock? If you do and it's not waking you up then I don't know what to tell you... if it is waking you up and you're going back to sleep afterwards then don't. Make a conscious effort not to go back to sleep. If you are still tired when waking up then I'd say set the alarm clock like an hour or a half hour earlier. And do not go back to sleep. Chances are you'll be tired for like an hour but be fully awake by the time that you wanted to wake up at in the first place. I've found that I go to bed whenever I feel tired which is usually around 12. And it's odd, I find I only need about 5 hours of sleep before I'm powered up, instead of that recommended 9 hours. But the only tip I can give you is try to be more active in the day so you're tired later in the day. Start working out after school or something, I used to do that a year ago and after I went in my jaqcuzzi (or a bath) and fell asleep like a baby.
