Xalaru 445 Posted May 7, 2012 Is there any other way for someone in Europe to get Re:CoM that isn't just buying the GBA version? My Dad's offered to look for a cheap American PS2 for me seeing as he lives in Texas while I'm in England... but the pointlessness of having an extra PS2 for the game makes me wonder if it's even worth it. Considering I got the PS2 I DO have solely for the purpose of playing KH1&2, then my best friend recently gave me his PSP so that I can play BBS... I just don't wanna have to get another console. Is there like, I don't know, any hardware/software or something that can let European PS2s play NA games? I'm sure if there was, more Europeans would be playing Re:CoM by now... but thought I'd ask anyway. 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this
King Riku 2,063 Posted May 7, 2012 I wonder if SwapMagic would work? I know it lets you play Japanese games at least.
Sora96 17,256 Posted May 7, 2012 Australia doesn't have Re:Chain of Memories either Re:Chain of Memories is exclusive to North America sadly. So you'll need either Swap Magic or your PlayStation 2 modified. Those are the only ways to play a North American PlayStation 2 game outside of North America. The alternative is you play Chain of Memories for the Game Boy Advance and/or watch a quality playthrough or walkthrough of Re:Chain of Memories. Xalaru 445 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) Oh, I've heard about that, but I didn't really understand why I needed an extra part for my PS2 to use it. Or at least, my Dad said we needed to order and extra part, anyway; and he's all... tech-y. So I believed him. Meh, I guess I'll just have to try SwapMagic and get whatever extra part my Dad was talking about. Wait, if the PS2 is modified, would it still be able to play EU games? Xalaru 445 Posted May 7, 2012 Oh, alright, thanks. No idea how to go about doing that, but I'll ask my Dad.
AnsemTheWise 1,114 Posted May 7, 2012 I just use the SwapMagic disc. It's easier than all that modifying chizz.
Sora96 17,256 Posted May 8, 2012 I just use the SwapMagic disc. It's easier than all that modifying chizz. Yeah but with Swap Magic you'll have to keep using the tool and disc every time. So in the long run it may be better to mod it as you wont have to do anything to get the game started.

CardCaptorDeadpool 386 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) You could but tbh if you already got BBS on that PSP theres no reason to go through so much effort just to play ReCoM its not even THAT good I mean BBS is similar and better in the gameplay department. Like if its for cutscenes theres plenty on youtube and trust me after an hour or so watching a walkthrough you've pretty much seen the whole game's combat especially for Riku. tbh just watch Twilight Town, Destiny Islands and Castle Oblivion cause most players get all the good Sleights by then. I know its not the same and you really dont want to get a new console but you should really consider investing in a 3DS cause tbh SE are never gonna make a next gen engine for KH until theyre done with Versus 13 and thats prolly gonna be another 2 years at least and since Tetsuya Nomuras planning on announcing a new KH its almost definitely gonna be on the 3DS since the PSP is totally dead. Plus if you want a new Sora even a Riku adventure Dream Drop Distance is the way to go! I know its incredibly annoying but if anything playing BBS is just gonna give you a taste for it. Oh ya that reminds me get it used it should be about 130 pounds cause GameStop sell them for about 140 Euros here. I heard since the 3DS is on its feet Nintendo are gonna raise the price to try and break even cause they've been selling at a loss. Timpani 23 Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) Depends on how powerful your computer is. I don't see any problems with buying the NA version of the game and emulating it. If they feel the need to region lock their console you have the right to bypass it the easiest way you can. I wouldn't use swap magic, but that's just me. I already have a 3DS, got it in March last year, and I intend on getting DDD. But being a big fan of KH I'd rather not sit through a playthrough on YouTube instead of playing the actual game for myself, which I'm sure you can understand. Even if it's similar or the same to other KH games, I'd still love to play it. But thanks. (: Depends on how powerful your computer is. Yeah thanks, I might look into emulating it, but pretty sure we're going to have to update my laptops (got a MacBook) RAM or something before I consider that. It's started running slow and freezing like mad lately as it is... My Dad's looking into either SwapMagic or modifying it at the moment, so I'll just see how that goes. ^^;
Nikolasvanitas 358 Posted May 10, 2012 i would suggest pcsx2 or PS2 modchip=PS2 Matrix Infinity you can also try KH2FM with an english patch if you choose one of these 2 ways
TheOriginalBob 110 Posted June 8, 2012 I use PCSX2 myself. Re:COM runs a little easier, for some reason the cutscenes are all FMV's. Well the voiced ones are anyway.

This is an option but you must still legally own a PlayStation 2 and a copy of the game.

Sora96 17,256 Posted June 8, 2012 I would if it was available in my country. You must live in Australia or Europe. Maybe I'll tell the police. Lol. You shouldn't break the law. You can easily import the game for say $20 on Amazon.com and eBay.

Aside from modding my console which is just as illegal. I'm not a cheapskate i'd glad buy a copy if it was available in my region, but for now this is my only option without any heavy handed hardware tinkering. But your not getting my point. If you simply imported a copy of Re:Com from North America then what your doing will be legal.

TheOriginalBob 110 Posted June 8, 2012 I'm not actually familiar with Swap magic or how it works. Might get myself a copy. Plus Re:COM would make a nice edition to my ever growing KH collection. Even if it is from a different region. Just so long as shipping doesn't cost a fortune.
Weedanort 8,786 Posted June 8, 2012 Never heard of SwapMagic before. I tried the hard way, by importing it from the USA. And then I tried to import an american PS2, but I failed
