VI and IX are my favorite games on a whole, but there are moments in many other games that really make the grade. However, when Final Fantasy misses the mark, they not only are horrendous abominations (hello, X-2,) but they bring down the great successes of Final Fantasy's past by daring to share the same name. (heck, XII sums this sentiment up by having the well rounded, developed, and interesting character of Ashe juxtaposed next to the one-note, dumb as a post, and uninspired prebuscent-would-be-hero archtype that is Vaan).
