Three developers and Dissidia Final Fantasy Versus XIII Square Enix leave

Recommended Posts

Dena and Gree are two Japanese companies engaged in social games and / or mobile systems have seen their incomes and turnover increase by leaps and bounds in recent months. So much so that as a curiosity, a booth at the Tokyo Game Show last Dena was quite larger than that of studies such as Square Enix.

And it was the creator of the award-winning Final Fantasy series that has seen it marching competition: Ryuji Ikeda, Chief programmer Dissidia: Final Fantasy, has washed up on the staff of that chain. Shouta Shimoda, director of planning for Dissidia 012, preferred to go to Gree.

And Takeshi Arakawa, director of textures in Kingdom Hearts, supervising director of Dissidia: Final Fantasy director of graphics and FF Versus XIII, has elected to go also to Gree. Other well-known creative Nipponese in the past followed this trend, including Keiji Inafune, Dead Rising, Mega Man, 'who left the ranks of Capcom to enter in a social gaming company based in London.

Yeah, texture artists are really irreplaceable.

Maybe Nomura will think of something like find a replacement for the texture artiist that left or Nomura could delay KH3 until he gets another texture artist but lets wait for the KH3D Ultimania to come out with the inteview that is in it maybe it will have an answer.

mmm this makes me think ...

if the company would collapse in a few years (just an assumption)

throw desperately some of its emergency lifeline?

Kingdom Hearts 3

or a desperate emergency Remake Final Fantasy VII?

If square Enix starts failing (Which would a long process, square Enix is a large company) They'd first drop out of the publishing scene, and simply make software, self published. Then if they kept failing, they'd get somebody to publish for them. Along the way, they would shovel out a lot of Final Fantasy remakes, and most likely invest in a VII remake.

That's generally Square's strategy.

Maybe that guy could return if KHIII is in involved, just a one time return.

Umm... I am actually pretty sure hatok was joking. A texture artist would probably actually be easily replaceable, especially in a game like KH where the textures are rather simple.

Don't get the wrong idea. Kingdom Heart's teztures aren't simple. They look simple, but the models have a lot of detail, and more importantly, some very good shading.

Don't undersell it.

It's sad to see them go, but hopefully they will enjoy their new jobs. On the good side, there will probably be promotions and new staff hired at SE. Lucky them :P

i dont know why everyone is saying this is depressing stuff like this happens all the time. A new promising company starts to gain ground and people from another company will flock to the smallbcompany to probablyget more freedom when working. Although it does suck that we lost them its not like the end of the world. They will eather find someone to replace them or promote and callvit a day

Yeah I would leave too. FF Versus has gone through development hell for so many years now. It's must be really tough and stressful over there.
