hatok 6,413 Posted March 29, 2012 L'Impeto Oscuro WANT Also, is it just me or is 'Someday' a lot slower than the original... can't remember... Honestly, I'm finding a lot of Yoko's work this time around rather bland and forgettable. Seriously, try telling Storm Diver from Untamable, or Majestic Wings, or Wild Blue or Ice-ho Lobster. PPretty hard. And all of the Grid music sound different, but none of IT stands out either. To quote Sora, 'yeesh'

And even then, those two tracks can be differentiated if you listen closely.I do agree that most of them aren't as memorable as her earlier works though. Maybe when playing the game, they'll become more attached to us.
Uncle Dolan 963 Posted March 29, 2012 I'm voting DDD for the worst Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. Yoko, you've lost your spot as my favorite composer after composing such trash. I hear god-damn Garageband samples. Well, Hello Takeharu Ishimoto! Hope Yoko doesn't mind you taking her spot...

Meh, I'm not interested in music that sounds good while I'm playing. I want music that sounds good in SPITE of me playing. Music I can just listen to by itself. Maybe you would have felt the same way.I just hope she picks it up in the next game though. Maybe the "dream" theme got to her, and she tried too hard to make it sound "dream"-like. Ian Murphy 1 Posted March 29, 2012 (edited) I noticed they mentioned "Xigbar" on this list instead of "Braig". In fact, he was called Xigbar on one of the magazine scans, and resembles his Nobody's self rather than his human self, as the other apprentices do. Does this mean he's still a Nobody? I'm voting DDD for the worst Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. Yoko, you've lost your spot as my favorite composer after composing such trash. I hear god-damn Garageband samples. Well, Hello Takeharu Ishimoto! Hope Yoko doesn't mind you taking her spot... Well, see, you know those songs from the first disc that are previewed here? Besides the rearrangement of "Dearly Beloved", Yoko did not compose those songs. I don't know the name of the one who composed these previewed song, but it appears they're previewing the songs that were not made by Yoko, besides "Dearly Beloved" of course. I don't know if the previewed songs from the second disc were made by Yoko either. But I do know that if you're judging solely by the songs previewed here, you are being unfair simply by the fact that not all the songs have been heard yet. AJTREY 70 Posted March 29, 2012 I have to admit that the nutcracker numbers were the only ones I expected (well, that and night on bald mountain) and that is because we could hear one of the tracks in the dual link video
Uncle Dolan 963 Posted March 29, 2012 Yoko did not compose those songs. Please tell me why and how she didn't compose those song. She is the MAIN, LEAD composer of KH, and this game. She had too of composed them.

I just hope she picks it up in the next game though. Maybe the "dream" theme got to her, and she tried too hard to make it sound "dream"-like. I HAVE heard the soundtracks before the others games came out. I got into KH rather late. One of my deciding factors on eventually getting all of the games was their excellent OSTs.The biggest example is Birth By Sleep. As soon as the game was released in Japan, I began a frantic search for the ost. I like Dark Impetus, Future Masters, Dearly Beloved. Also, I don't have any Final Mix, but the Final Mix music is excellent, despite my not having played the game along with the music. This is just a weak soundtrack. Where are my violins? My distinct melodies? The best songs I've heard so far are the Traverse Town themes, and they pale in comparison to previous world themes. (Though they are by no means the worst)
Ian Murphy 1 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) Please tell me why and how she didn't compose those song. She is the MAIN, LEAD composer of KH, and this game. She had too of composed them. The answer lies on the official website, at least in regards to Disc 1: http://www.square-en...sem/page/kh/3d/ This site, as you are no doubt aware, lists the song titles, as well as the staff members responsible for the composition (作曲) and arrangement (編曲) each song. Among the credited composers and arrangers are Yoko Shimomura (下村陽子), Kaoru Wada (和田薫), Tsuyoshi Sekito (関戸剛), and Takeharu Ishimoto (石元丈晴). The songs from Disc 1 previewed on the site are credited by the following people: Dearly Beloved - Composed by Yoko Shimomura, arranged by Kaoru Wada Storm Diver - Composed and arranged by Tsuyoshi Sekito TWISTER -KINGDOM MIX- - Composed and arranged by Takeharu Ishimoto CALLING -KINGDOM MIX- - Composed and arranged by Takeharu Ishimoto UNTAMABLE - Composed and arranged by Tsuyoshi Sekito SOMEDAY -KINGDOM MIX- - Composed and arranged by Takeharu Ishimoto Majestic Wings - Composed and arranged by Tsuyoshi Sekito Wild Blue - Composed and arranged by Tsuyoshi Sekito As you can see, only Dearly Beloved had Yoko Shimomura's credit listed. The remaining eight tracks on Disc 1, which are not previewed, were all credited as being composed and arranged by Yoko Shimomura. Now, I don't know which songs on the other two discs were composed by which people (save the Nutcracker Suite and Bare Mountain), but I know enough to know that this soundtrack is at least more of a collaborative effort. So I guess we can't really say it's Yoko's fault for making the songs. Maybe she approved of them, but I really don't know for sure.
