Always 309 Posted February 28, 2012 Rock music. Lots of it. Lately I've been listening a quite a bit to "Fix Me" by 10 Years. It's kind of a depressing one...

Amon 4,279 Posted February 29, 2012 Music has sucked massive donkey balls since the 80s. Around the same time artists stop making music out of enjoyment and started to whore themselves out to record companies.

Koko 3,944 Posted February 29, 2012 I like anything really, with the exception of country. I just can't stand country. Anyways, I listen to a lot of Alternative, rock, pop, and electronic music. Right now I'm having an obsession with ambient music. Port Blue is simply divine. Also it's deadmau5 now deadmou5

And lately I just can't get Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson out of my head.
lizzie1238 538 Posted February 29, 2012 I simply can't hate anything. I like all music. There is not a song I hate. Not even Rebecca Black's "Friday"? I'm kinda similar, I like a lot of music. I don't really like country or rap but I still like some songs from those genres. I'll just listen to whatever is playing. Right now, the song "Drive by" by Train is stuck in my head. Yuzuki 30 Posted February 29, 2012 Japanese music, because there's no bad lyrics or inappropriate meaning. It actually makes me happy and their lyrics aren't as cliche as American music. (typicle American song: "Why did you have to leave me??", "I'll never forget youuuu!!", "come back to meee", "I'm so tired of youuuu", "BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEPPP (censoring)"etc.... Typicle Japanese song: " If I could cause just one miracle It would be trapping this moment in a picture Not knowing the noise of a changing era I just want to stare at only you. ", "The sadness that continues to fall Changes to pure white snow I kept looking to the sky If now my wish reaches you, Before my body vanishes Hold me tightly once more.", "The season told me calmly about the end I gather colourful memories and I say goodbye to them That person who gave me love, was shaking in these eyes") Anyway, do you see my point? As for Japanese bands, I like Orange Range, Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, Ai Otsuka, L'Arc en Ciel, SID, Gackt, Koda Kumi, Morning Musume, etc. Non-japanese music would be.... Enya(LOVE SO MUCH), The beatles, Abba, Phil Collins... All the classics haha Oh and people like Helen Jane Long, the Yoshida Brothers, etc. Yup yup! You obviously haven't heard Josh Groban. As for me, my taste in music varies; I'm usually drawn in by the singer's voice and then the beat of the song. So I really don't have any genres that I don't like, since I listen to a bit of everything. Then I also listen to the soundtracks of tv shows and movies I watch (mainly the Doctor Who and Homestuck soundtracks as of late). Right now the bands/artists I listen to the most are Josh Groban, Mumford & Sons, Muse, 30 Seconds To Mars, Coldrain, and New Medicine.

But don't generalize one country's music as being one thing and generalizing another and saying one is better than the other because of the generalizations. It's stupid to generalize because music is diverse in all countries Yes yes I'm saying that generally when I turn on the radio the music I hear is nothing like any Japanese music. All cultures have every time of music, but generally they have a theme that makes most of the music different from culture to culture. That's what makes each one unique in their own right. Also I think there's a difference between saying one is better as fact and saying one is better by preference. I'm saying it by preference. I prefer one over the other, just like many others. I find Japanese music to be more poetic than American. But not being poetic isn't a bad thing either. So it's not like I'm saying american music sucks 'cause it's not poetic. I just like poetic music better. Some people are opposite though. I love many cultures music(Irish, Egyptian, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, etc), but if I had to pick which I prefer I would probably have to pick Japanese. Both their traditional and modern music just seems to catch my attention more. It's like saying "what's your favourite music?" I find all music nice, but I have certain types I prefer. Some Japanese music is just a certain style that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. That's the only reason I say "Japanese" Ugh I suck at explaining things. I still don't think I worded it right... X|
Protoman 1,974 Posted March 1, 2012 some weaboo post Well. Yeah, this sounds totally poetic. And appropriate, considering DAT CUSSING. Just everything by Maximum the Hormone. You keep saying just JAPANESE, when it's a lot more than that. It's like saying everything you find on all the stations of the radio is American music. You know, I'm pretty sure they have their complicated stuff, genres, and sub-genres as well. IF YOU REALLY LIKED THIS MUSIC, YOU WOULD PROBABLY LOOK OF THE CORRECT GENRES OF IT. Just a pro-tip. P.S. MY FAVORITE HIGHLIGHT: It actually makes me happy and their lyrics aren't as cliche as American music. American song: "I'll never forget youuuu!!" Japanese song: Saying the exact same thing in just a longer amount of words great 2 Godot and Ivan reacted to this

No country or language has music that is anymore meaningful or beautiful than anywhere else. 3 Kaiso, Ivan and Koko reacted to this
Space Cowboy 1,392 Posted March 1, 2012 I don't like a lot of music in other languages, because if I don't understand what the firetruck they are saying how can I fully enjoy it? I really only listen to VGM, rap, dubstep, or jazz. I'll listen to some rock here and there but not a big fan of it.
