Lexa Infinite 141 Posted February 13, 2012 Hey, this is LexaIIIV. Whilst chatting, me and my friend Rikuva came up with a brilliant idea: switching between main characters at anytime during the game. To explain further, here's our conversation: LexaIIIV: I also want to be able to switch between main characters at anytime. Rikuva: like bbs sort of i guess LexaIIIV: Like you can change from Sora -> Roxas->Ven->Aqua->Xion->Riku...Well, you get the point. LexaIIIV: At anytime. Rikuva: like you could go into a world and switch keyblade wielders with some button after you unlocked them Rikuva: and at certain points in the story you only have a few characters Rikuva: and each one has different abilities allowing for more puzzles Now we know DDD is doing something to this exent. However, we would like to further this idea. The help we need is a way to contact Nomura. Does anyone know how to contact him (adding on to this idea is encouraged) ? Arya Stark 1,337 Posted February 13, 2012 Well, screw them. They don't accept suggestions from the populace? This is a discrimination! Kingdom Hearts should be a democracy! Aside from that, what do you think of the Idea?

lizzie1238 538 Posted February 13, 2012 Even if you could find a way to send in suggestions, it would be very unlikely they would read them and very very very very very unlikely that they would use them in a game.

Oishii 3,987 Posted February 13, 2012 aw man you too? Come on guys not all game companies are like that They are businesses. What do you think they exist for? Besides, isn't that what we're getting in DDD? We get to switch back and forth between Sora and Riku. But SE will do what's best for the story, so if the story calls for it you'll switch characters (like 3D). If not, then we get to play as Sora, and be happy about it. 1 Kinode reacted to this

Have you ever played a LEGO game? That was sort of what I was imagining except that it would still have all the combat abilities of the other games. But no that isn't what we are getting in DDD. In that, you don't get a choice when to switch. And, we have no idea how much Riku and Sora differ in abilities.
Oishii 3,987 Posted February 13, 2012 well ya, but don't they also have fun in makng their games? Of course they do They just want to get payed to do what they love. There's nothing wrong with that. In the LEGO games, they are using stories that we already know from the movies so they can add features like switching characters. In KH, each game tells an entirely new story (excluding Disney worlds) so consistency is important so the player doesn't get confused. It's okay as a side thing like in Days, but for the main storyline it'll come down to the story. And in the latest interview Nomura said there was some changes made to the switching that makes it sound like it's less forced and give more control. What this means we won't know until they release info about the drop system.

I mean what I'm thinking is that you would play it just like Kingdom Hearts except you can switch characters. Or at least play as different characters, if we can't switch. About that DDD thing, I was looking forward to having forced switches, it would make the game more intense because your afraid it'll switch characters on you in the middle of the battle. Maybe I'm just weird like that.

That's what WILL happen... however if you were in the middle of doing something with Riku you don't want to do later, and it switches to Sora, you have the option to switch back to Riku to finish it, then after a certain point Riku won't be able to proceed unless Sora catches up with his storyline(So that you can't play through a whole story before the other). Lexa Infinite 141 Posted March 14, 2012 To change characteryou go to start menu and u see sora sleeping and press switch and you turn into riku Exactly what I was thinking. It would be almost exactly like changing party members in KH2.
heyitsdeven 131 Posted March 16, 2012 Lol! I posted this in another thread but: A combination of Kh1 & Kh2, with plenty of new improvements. A DREAM feature for me would be being able to change characters at will. Kind of like Final Fantasy XII. Let's say, in Kh3, you could play as either Sora, Riku, or Kairi (*cough*orLea), then you would have SECONDARY party members (non playable) such as donald, goofy, and world specific party members like Jack Aladdin, etc,. I'm glad other people like the idea. If only Square would implement it.
