Anime | Manga Do you prefer Japanese or English Dubs?

Recommended Posts

We all know this same question.

English dubs are alright for me, as long as 4kids, Cartoon Network, and DisneyXD stays away. (Except Adult Swim. Let them dub good anime.)

I don't really mind Japanese dubs that much, I'm watching Digimon with English subtitles. The only thing that ticks me off is that DisneyXD gets Digimon Xros Wars. (ANOTHER SEASON THEY WILL SCREW UP.) Look what they did to Digimon Masters, No one likes "Marcus" since he promotes animal abuse. THAT AND NO GOOGLES.

Anything unrelated to 4kids is good. They can ruin perfect animes.

But generally when I watch anime I watch japanese dubs. The voice actor are generally better, and I can understand the characters emotions. The maniac screams/laughs, etc. are always awesome..Also there's too much editing. Screw the kids, I want my swearing Hidan and extreme blood losses. >.>

I like the english dub better, because it's easier to understand, & english dubbed anime is more appropriate for kids, opposed to the original japanese dub. For example, in Naruto Shippuden, the japanese version, some scenes involved blood. In the dub, the blood was taken away, replaced by moaning.

Well, I usually watch things with English sub or just no subs if I'm feeling adventurous, but I don't have a problem with English dub if it's done well. I guess I judge case by case. Usually I just go with subs, though.

Eh both is fine for me. As long as the English dub doesn't suck ass! If it does I'll find the English subs on youtube. Also with English subs I can learn a little Japanese by listening to them. Though it takes a while, a great hearing ability, and a heck of a memory, to get a sentence in Japanese by just listening to it and then listening to another one.

I'm fine with both and can definitely agree that the Japanese dub has more emotion put into them. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sleep.png

Though sometimes I wonder. . . .

. . . .

. . . .

what the Japanese think of their dub. Do they think its awesome like we do or do they by some weird chance think our dub is superior?

(the following example may seem out of place so please forgive me  )

Some Eng dubs are better, for example, the eng dub for Monster was AWESOME.

It depends on the anime, whether I feel like reading or not, and the voice actors.

I automatically will not watch anything with Vic Mignogna.

I will watch everything with Crispin Freeman.

Also Adult Swim doesn't dub anything :/ They just air the anime. I'm pretty sure Bleach and Naruto are dubbed by Viz Media, Durarara was dubbed by FUNimation and yeah.
