Today, DC Comics announced a series of annuals that will be hitting your local comic shop in May, featuring over-sized one-shot stories for some of your favorite books. So far, DC has revealedBatman Annual #1 (co-written by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV, art by Jason Fabok), Animal Man Annual #1 (written by Jeff Lemire, art by Timothy Green II), and Teen Titans Annual #1 (co-written by Scott Lobdell and Tom DeFalco, art by Brett Booth), the latter of which will have repercussions throughout Superboy, Legion Lost, Teen Titans, and the upcoming Ravagers.

The Animal Man story will focus on the history between the Green, the Red, and the Rot, continuing story threads from the Animal Man ongoing as well as Swamp Thing. And finally, the Batman Annual will feature the introduction of Mister Freeze into DC's New 52.

"Mr. Freeze is a character full of pathos and tragedy and at the end of the day, he's one of Batman's deadliest," writer Scott Snyder told The Source. "So as you can imagine, I'm very excited to be able to do a story that establishes him in the new DCU, with rising stars James Tynion IV and Jay Fabok. This will be tale that really digs into Freeze's psyche, explaining his connection to the Court of Owls in the present, and exploring dark secrets about his past. Really thrilled to see what you guys think!"

For his part, Jeff Lemire said of the Animal Man Annual, "There's nothing I love more than writing Animal Man. Since the book launched in September, Joey Cavalieri and the team at DC have given me an incredible amount of trust to craft a big sprawling story about life, death, family and pets. So I was especially excited when they asked me to write a new 48 page Animal Man story for the upcoming Animal Man Annual #1. I saw it as a great chance to expand upon the mythology of The Red, The Green and The Rot, but also to tell a satisfying story that can stand on it's own as well."

"In many ways this Annual is like a prequel to the crossover storyline that Scott Snyder and I have planned for Animal Man and Swamp Thing," continued Lemire. "But the best part is that I get to work with Timothy Green II. I've been a fan of Timothy's since I first saw his work a few years back and I was really excited when Joey told me he would be drawing the Annual. I've seen the first few pages of art and man, is it gorgeous. He draws a great Swamp Thing and an even better Maxine!"

"You know how comics used to have cover copy that read 'This issue has it all!'… then you'd read the issue and, well, it had some but not all? Well this Annual really does have it all!" Lobdell said of Teen Titans Annual #1. "We finally get to see the oft-mentioned Colony – where the N.O.W.H.E.R.E. leader named Harvest has been keeping the hundred or so teenagers (did I say hundred?!) for who-knows-how-long. We get to see the Teen Titans in pitched battle against the Legion Lost (You can understand why Red Robin is skeptical about a team of teenagers claiming to come from the 30th Century, and why Tyroc is scratching his head over the existence of a team that – according to the history progs – is still some eight years away from being formed!)."

"Then there's the introduction of half the roster of the new Ravagers series! It has been eight issues since Red Robin threw down the gauntlet to Harvest, and now we're going to see if the Teen Titans have what it takes to shut down N.O.W.H.E.R.E. once and for all!" continued Lobdell. "Yes, there's a reason why this story could only take place in an annual – because there is just too much story to be contained in one of the monthly books!"

It sounds as though DC has more annuals to announce, so if there is so more i shall update this

I will most likely pick up Batman and Animal Man because writers are great and series are top notch.I really want to see how Snyder writes Mister Freeze
