KH1 Mysterious Door

Recommended Posts

There's most probably a thread about this, so this may get blocked.

But, I will say, as I always say when asked this question. I think that door is in someway related to the door of light/darkness. Although the majority of people state the door is simply the world's keyhole, I have to disagree. For one thing, it just seems too obvious. Yes, Destiny Isle is a small world and that cave was hidden but a couple of five year olds were able to find it. Destiny Isle's protection is ridiculous if that's the case.

But my second reason for thinking this is that it's said that the door has opened before and inside is darkness which was found by Riku. Later, when Sora becomes the Keyblade Wielder, the door opens and darkness is all that's released. And then the Door To Light, allows for Sora and Riku to return home and somehow a message in a bottle was somehow able to cross worlds, from DI to the Dark Meridian.

Let's face it, something is up with Destiny Isle. It's also a world devoid of heartless despite having a Princess of Heart there. That seems really odd to me. Maleficent knows where Kairi lives and she probably also knows she's un-protected. It makes no sense to me why she didn't try to kidnap Kairi again.

But we can't say for shure. And the Maleficen kiddnaping part is really odd. You have a point there... But how did the bottle travel from DI to Dark Meridian? And who said that the door was once opened?

Now that I think about it, that might have been a scene in the manga and thus non-canon. Never mind.

Maybe, maybe not. That scene doesn't really prove anything. Keyholes are a very common device throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. And it showing up to Riku doesn't mean much either. Even if he is,technically, a keyblade wielder by this point, isn't it the keyblade itself that reacts to the keyholes not the key wielder?

It is the door to the heart of the world aka the Keyhole. Also, it doesn't just react to the Keyblade, every time Sora saw it, it was before he even summoned his Keyblade. And in KH1 the only time you see a Keyhole is when it's the world's Keyhole.

And the door to darkness. Don't go forgetting that little detail now...oh, and the keyhole created by the Princess of Hearts. Like I said, a keyhole is a common device throughout the kingdom hearts series, even in KH1, it didn't just mean a world's keyhole.

Also, all the other worlds reacted to the keyblade, why would Destiny Isle's be the only one that's different.

Actually, the Door to Darkness is something completely different. The DTD is the big door at the end of KH1 that Sora and Mickey seal with the Keyblades, it's not hte same door as the one in Destiny Islands.

So you're agreeing with me, keyholes that lead to the worlds' hearts are not the only use of a keyhole in Kingdom Hearts 1.

No, I'm not agreeing with you. There was no Keyhole for the DTD. The only Keyholes we see are those that were used to lock the hearts of the worlds to keep the Heartless out.

*Sigh* Obviously, there's no convincing each other, so let's just wait this out for a confirmation okay?

tutti frutti. I don't think the door in DI leads to the heart of the world. So far I've noticed that a majority of the keyholes have been hidden in places that people really wouldn't think to look, such as under Oogie's mansion in KH1, and the ballroom floor of Beast's castle in KH2. I find it strange that two kid is able to find the door by merely exlporing the island. I believe that there is something more important than the Keyhole behind the door. Even though a person would need to somehow get through the hole or tear down the wall to get to the path leading to the door, it seems strange that something that would stand out like a sore thumb in a cave could be the keyhole.

Well they were able to find the keyhole because Terra did the keyblade inherentince ceremony on riku, and ventus is in sora hearts witch gave both of them the power to find the keyhole to a world.

tutti frutti. We don't really know if Terra did the Keyblade Inheritence Ceremony before or after Riku saw the keyhole. And if the Keyblade did allow people to find a keyhole in each of the world, Maleficent wouldn't have needed to capture the PoH and have them reveal the location of it in KH1 in Hallow Bastion.

Terra did the KIC on riku before he saw the keyhole to destiny island because sora talked about a new girl (kairi) arriving on the island, maleficent knew sora was looking for the keyhole so she let him find them all nothing about since she could find it, the only other person to find a keyhole was jafar but that was only cause he wished for the genie to reveal it to him, and maleficent found the last one because she had all the princess of heart.

tutti frutti. I completely forgot about that. It's been forever since I have played KH1.

I think that this door may be the door to light which is why it is protected from heartless becuz it has such a strong light and the bottle could've simply drifted into space like Riku planned to do in KH 1 at the beginning. I do realize that the light being intense would then stop it from being consumed by darkness in 1 but I think that that is becuz Riku opened it to darkness as an orientation to be accepted by the darkness. Course this is only my opinion and could be completely wrong

This is very interesting. The strange thing to me is in all the other worlds the keyhole was still somehow represented. And even then heartless still appear. Why don't they appear on destiny islands? And the door is still exactly the same when the world is restored. I want to believe there is some significane there but i'm not sure. Also in the begining and end of the game there is that door, when he is dreaming and the one that leads you to Ansem at final rest, perhaps it is the same door, it just looks diffrent. Or perhaps we are over analysing this and the door was the keyhole and its just a storage room, or a door against a wall.
