kingdomlanelover 494 Posted February 1, 2012 Hey guys, just got the English version of FF XIII-2. And it's really fun to play, I just throw myself into battles now because of how fun it is! How many of you got it and what do you think of it? And for those of you who don't have it, are you going to get it? Discuss.
Always 309 Posted February 1, 2012 I now have it in my possession, but I haven't opened it for two reasons: 1) I still haven't finished FFXIII and 2) I'm way too busy with school to play video games right now. T_T
Tails 6,692 Posted February 1, 2012 I don't have the game. I bought Soul Caliber V instead. Great game so far and I love the gameplay on it as well. Doing the story mode now.
Kishira 2,854 Posted February 1, 2012 I wouldn't be able to play it anyway, our PS3 doesn't want to read disks for some reason. ;w;
Not-with-a-whimper 144 Posted February 1, 2012 I have it, the Collector's Edition, in fact, but I haven't been able to play it yet because I'm still in the middle of fasting video games for 21 days with the rest of my church. (Obviously other people are fasting other things instead of video games. To an eighty year old who never plays games, giving them up would not be at all impressive.) Looking forward to playing it Sunday, though! 1 Aqua7KH reacted to this
FlowofLove 3 Posted February 1, 2012 I heard the battle system improved. how different is it from the first game?
Rob 5,571 Posted February 1, 2012 I wouldn't be able to play it anyway, our PS3 doesn't want to read disks for some reason. ;w; Hope you tried restoring the default, and file settings, otherwise you'll have to send it to Sony if you have a warranty. I'm a victim as well. I don't have FF 13-2.
Not-with-a-whimper 144 Posted February 1, 2012 I heard the battle system improved. how different is it from the first game? Well, for one thing, the annoying scenes that sometimes happen when you shift paradigms are gone. For another, the game is more difficult due to the new "wounded damage" feature. Also, the battles just flow better, and I, for one, am glad that we get to get monsters in our ranks.
AnsemTheWise 1,114 Posted February 1, 2012 It's kick-ass! But I've been switching between it and Soul Calibur V, so I've really only cleared what was in the demo.

I don't have FF 13-2. We've had it since '08, dunno if the warranty's still in play. We're gonna try cleaning the lens, if that fails, we'll resort to the system restore. XIIISwords 1,059 Posted February 1, 2012 I can't get it today; it shoud arrive by Friday (hopefully). I already got my emails for the Serah bow and outfit DLC, and I'm psyched! I'm watching the cutscenes online so that when I get the game I can skip them and get straight to the gameplay!
Junko 2,815 Posted February 1, 2012 I'll wait a week before i watch the walkthrough on youtube. Dont feel like buying it=.= i saw some of it. It awesome
lizzie1238 538 Posted February 1, 2012 I'm waiting until it goes down to $20. Plus, I still have to buy and finish the original XIII, although I've played some of it. XIII-2's demo was pretty fun though. I'll probably watch the cutscenes on YouTube if I find the time.
hatok 6,413 Posted February 1, 2012 It's weird, the battle system hasn't really changed all that much, they just seem more interesting. It's like last last hour of the original game, all the time.
XIIISwords 1,059 Posted February 2, 2012 I've only played the demo, but it's great. I loved making Serah my Commando and Noel my Ravager; I think I'll do that in the main game!

I always had Noel as a commando. Sometimes Serah would be a ravager and sometimes they would both be commandos (I love how in XIII-2 you can make them all be commandos but still attack the same enemy). The paradigm tuning is pretty awesome! But yeah, Noel/Com Serah/Rav is the "Right" way to do it, but I love the bowblade so much that I think I'll do it the other way to be different. VENROXAS 152 Posted February 2, 2012 The paradigm now is way better going faster then the animation from 13, and the fact you can defeat enemies and have them as your Allie is even better so far the game is going verry good, I like the start better than 13 so far

Just so you know, a LOT of content was cut for the demo. You're missing most of the cutscenes, and the dialogue is much less repetitious. Also, you start the demo in a much weaker position than you would most likely be in if you played the game normally.

I've watched the up until the end of this section in the real game on Youtube so I can skip the cutscenes and get to the gameplay tomorrow.
Zenithia 305 Posted February 3, 2012 tutti frutti. I'm iffy about picking up XIII-2 after playing the demo. One of the things that bugs me about the demo is the health system where you can only heal yourself to a certain extent, as oppose to healing your character completely. But I may youtube it after a week or so to see if that changes my mind in getting the game.

Zenithia 305 Posted February 4, 2012 There're potions for healing that. You can buy them in the demo. tutti frutti. I don't remember any shops in the demo. The only potions that I remember are the ones given to you in the demo, which I believe was roughly 20 or so, but those only healed you to a certain extent. If you don't mind my asking, Hatok, where is the shop that sells that particular potion that you mentioned?

That doesn't make the game any harder at all.I just beat the game and I never had to use any of those special potions to heal my HP . Wayyy too easy.
