TheApprenticeofKingMickey 3,689 Posted January 22, 2012 Perchance to Dream Part I Apprentice drummed her fingers on the wall, brows knitted with a hand pressed to her temple. The staccato pattern her fingernails created did not help the increasing annoyance that weighed on her mind. She had forgotten something, and obviously she didn't know what. She pictured how much of an idiot she must looked, standing awkwardly in the hallway. Maybe if she retraced her steps and thought for a moment what she had been planning before she suddenly forgot.Shaking her head, Apprentice stood up straight and walked forward. She played various scenarios through her mind. First, I was thinking eating frosted flakes for breakfast and then I had planned on going on the computer. That's when the various grey, white and blue colours invaded her mind."Ohhhhh," she said aloud, slapping the side of her head."That's what I was going to do. I was going to go on KH13. Stupid me."Treading a restless hand through her auburn hair, Apprentice made her way up the staircase. The rest of her family had gone out shopping today and she was alone at home with the dog and cats.Approaching her iMac, she seated herself comfortably. At first, Apprentice had stumbled upon the site looking for various Kingdom Hearts cutscenes via Google and YouTube. When she returned to the site, she started stalking it for a for a month or so when Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Re:coded had been released. It was until after KH3D had been announced that she finally decided to sign up on the site using the pseudonym TheApprenticeofKingMickey.It was really strange, the feelings she felt for invisible people. At first, she was initially suspicious of anyone who talked to her, believing them perverts or rapists. As time went, the members of KH13 grew on her and came to regard the majority of the site as good friends. Course, if her parents knew this they'd be telling her, "Y'know, you're befriending pedophiles, right?"Apprentice briefly smirked as she opened Safari. Maybe she'd ought to tell them that. gaiz mommy and daddy thinks ur all pedos!From what Apprentice had learned , KH13 consisted of five groups. The Kings (Aaron and DChiuch), the moderators, the well-known members, the lesser-known members and the bots. Apprentice had a hard time distinguishing whether she belonged in the well known or lesser known groups. The hierarchy of KH13 was a tough egg to crack. Basically if the mods disapproved of you or dislike you, your life on KH13 never truly existed in the first place.After Apprentice had finished browsing through YouTube and allkpop, she finally clicked on KH13. Browsing through the notifications on KH13 was one of the times during the day that Apprentice looked forward to the most. Which is pretty pathetic now that you think about it.What caught Apprentice's eye was the strange window flashing at the corner of the screen. She removed her purple and blue spectacles, cleaned them, rubbed her eyelids before depositing them back on the bridge of nose.The window was small, flashing with all the signature colours and symbols of the Kingdom Hearts series. In the series' signature font there was were two words. 'The Keyhole' it said. Below the words was the recognizable Keyhole of Light, its light shining more brightly than the midday sun itself. She was right. What she saw wasn't a dream. She had clicked on this window before and it had taken her on a magical route.Apprentice moved the cursor, then hesitated. Stop it, she thought. This is DChiuch, you idiot. You can trust him. Swallowing audibly, Apprentice clicked on the Keyhole. A silvery white light came pouring out of the Keyhole, lathering the walls and furniture of the computer room. It grabbed hold of Apprentice, its touch almost frothy and warm. It coaxed Apprentice to feel no fear. Finally yielding, she let herself plunge into a world of magic and danger. * * * Tell me if I kicked ass in this chapter. I think did pretty well. I credit Deadshot for the name. So now you know what my parents think of you. And what important lesson did we learn from reading this chapter kids? Replace the amniotic sack of liquid and darkness with bright light and frothy feeling the brush of a feather would have and voilà! That's exactly what Apprentice's journey was like. And she had never felt so free doing so. It was as if she was flying, soaring over some great, everlasting whiteness. There was nothing different, whether her eyes were opened or closed. Slowly, the light was stripped away and with was a kaleidoscope of colours, with floating Nobody symbols. "THE CORRIDORS OF DARKNESS?!" yelled Apprentice, her voice painfully loud in pregnant silence. She appeared to be floating, an auburn halo surrounding her head as if she were underwater. "How am I not turning into a Heartless then?" Wait, what? THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD BE DOING IS PANICKING. But before she could struggle and begin to resist the darkness, her surroundings peeled and dissolved. The Lanes Between? Blue lights flitted past her, too rapid to truly see them. The darkness was a mixed of darkened purple and blue. Chimes overcame silence, almost as if- The worlds are singing, thought Apprentice. They sing because they know what was and what is to come. Now if that wasn't corny enough, Apprentice felt a strange zinging coming from her chest, almost as if her heart was singing along. Well, it is Kingdom Hearts. Expect the lovechild of Disney to be cheesy. This journey didn't seem threatening as before however it contained much danger. Apprentice had gotten herself into this, she would have to find a way out. And so she glided forward, until a red-gold light birthed within the darkness and enveloped her. Its influence grew stronger and heavier, weighing on her eyelids until Apprentice had lost all awareness. * Apprentice's body felt as if it had slept for ages. Never had it been more sated than this moment. Energy, satisfaction, alertness were all present as she sat bolt straight. Of all times to loose consciousness, Apprentice brought a hand to her temple. She pulled back, caught off-guard by the strange sheen that seemed to come from her skin. It was pearly, with an almost inhuman quality. Looking down, Apprentice came to realize that her auburn hair had morphed into jet black tresses that reached her waist. Her glasses were absent. She also knew that if she looked into the mirror that her eyes would be aquamarine blue. She frowned. She always assumed this physical identity whenever she dreamed but Apprentice was sure she wasn't dreaming. She felt more wide awake than she ever did in her life. So why. . . . ? "Mickey!" Apprentice raised her head, recognizing that voice. It couldn't be. . . . could it? She was surely dreaming now. "N-Naminé?" As the figure walked closer, she became more aware of her surroundings. Conveniently placed fog cloaked everything from sight, but even as Naminé came forward it dispersed. They were in the middle of a valley, towering mountains surrounding them. Green grass prickled Apprentice's skin and she could feel a warm breeze in her hair. Only then did she realize she was barefoot, clad in black shorts and a white t-shirt. The blue-eyed blonde approached her, giggling. "No, silly. Don't you remember? Most of us take the form of our avatars here. And if that's impossible, most of us look like we usually do when we dream." So according to her, people take form of their avatars here. And if the avatar is unable to assume a physical form, you would automatically assume the physical identity an individual would frequent the most when dreaming. But we're not dreaming, insisted Apprentice. I've never felt more wide awake. THAT never happens in dreams. "When you talk about 'us'. . . ," began Apprentice slowly. "What do you mean?"The Naminé-look alike frowned. "You don't remember? The members of KH13. This landscape is of Aaron and DChiuch's creation. It's sort of like a mix between a dreamscape and a virtual one. So think of it as the Realm of Sleep and the Grid from Tron combining.""Wait, since when did Aaron and DChiuch have magical powers?""Since Tetsuya Nomura became God," she winked. Apprentice looked at the girl. She look exactly like Naminé but the playfulness dancing in her eyes was akin to another."Shana?!" she gaped.Shana clapped. "Finally, she gets it. Good job, Mickey. I feel proud of you."Rising to her feet, Apprentice punched Shana in the arm. "Sure, you are."Not the least bit fazed, Shana stuck her tongue out."You cheek," Apprentice poked her. They stood for a minute, silent and gazing at the scenery. It was gorgeous, like a place taken out an explorer's dream. "So what is this place?"Shana gazed at her pointedly. Her mannerisms were so different from Naminé that it was strange to see her act this way. "What does it look like to you?""Like the Canadian Rockies and New Zealand had a baby," answered Apprentice immediately."Mickey, what is it with you and babies?" Yes, what was it with her and babies?"Maybe I'm horny." Her flat tone of voice and lack of express made the situation all the more comical."Eww," Shana wrinkled her nose, laughing."So why are we here? Why did DChiuch and Aaron call us here?"Getting back to more serious ground, Shana immediately sobered up. "We don't know. Even the mods are clueless."Below, stood a crowd that must count for the entire population of what is KH13. It was bizarre. Some people were Kingdom Hearts, Disney and Final Fantasy look alikes. Others were animals, robots, even real life celebrities. Even at this distance, Apprentice could recognize the mods trying to organize the crowd. It was a canvas of chaos and everything about it was beautiful. On a cliff and overlooking the valley, stood the Kings in all their glory. DChiuch, his face identical to Sora, with arms crossed over a lean chest. Aaron, who was Cloud Strife, had his leg propped up on a small boulder, his mouth quirked up in a smile.
