SOPA IS DEAD!

Recommended Posts

SOPA is certainly not dead, it's been shelved. It was shelved a few days ago, taken back out for reconsideration, then shelved again until they can come to an agreement with all of SOPA's opposers.

These bills aren't gone yet, but they're certainly on their way to becoming better. With the vote for PIPA delayed, SOPA being shelved a second time, and now:

The ESA (the guys behind E3, and the heart of the vast majority of the gaming industry) has renounced their support of SOPA. We're making progress, but it certainly isn't over yet.

Honestly I wish it had passed.

I think it was best put

You apparently don't understand what copyrights protect. Illegal downloading of intellectual property not only hurts the headline-making actors and musicians, but the much lower paid writers, lyricists, screenwriters, bit part actors, etc. whose income is dependent on the small royalty checks from their work. For every Taylor Swift making millions off her talents who aren't really hurt by pirating, there are literally hundreds of hard-working industry people making a few bucks at a time whose next rent payment or grocery bill is dependent on that revenue stream. SOPA is an attempt to stop that trend. You may want to quibble over the long term ramifications of it, but the intent of the law is something that only morons would argue against.

I mean, every site on the web has something copyrighted and I'm pretty sure the government isn't going to shut down the entire Internet itself never to be accessed again. But, ehh, what's done is done.

I do agree that they should do something about the online pirating, but SOPA And Protect IP Are not the way to do it, and did you hear yesterday while all this chaos has been happeing they took down Megaupload...*R.I.P Megaupload

Personally I agree with it but meh, again it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks now.

I never used megaupload, lol.
