Knight Chronicles: Gigas Awakening

"What was that?" Joseph asked as he set his food down looking towards the door Brutus had just left in a rush. "He sure looked ticked off. Here Gen, I'll go check on things, you can keep eating if you'd like. If it's anything big then I'll come get you."

Taking a second to look awesome, Joseph decided that it was time to go. He put up his hood and began following Brutus at a distance.

(If you get it then you deserve a cookie. So just go and get a cookie 'cause there's no way I'll be able to get one to you.)

Sitting alone... in someone else's house... with someone else's food... alone...

Gen closed the door behind her, looking for an extra key hidden away to lock the door. Unable to find one, she pulled the handle harder, hoping it would somehow make ithe door harder to open. She started to look around for wher the others went, but she found her answer on the ground. A set of heavy bootprints led from the door out to the fields; a large man ran that way. It had to be Brutus.

The crisp country wind cut through her hair as Gen sprinted through the town, careful to avoid any of the townsfolk. Whatever was happening, Brutus would undoubtedly need help. But not only that... she couldn't be alone.

(OOC: Your amazing writing makes me feel bad...)

Brutus was at the field, his axe was drawn, and he had an air of bloodlust about him. The mysterious group of men stood infront of him, and one of them wore the cloak that the man in Balandor had on. This was no cooinsidence. He then decided questions were stupid and went straight for the kill. He rushed them with his axe drawn and struck three of them as fast as he could, knocking them on their backs as the rest stood dumbfounded. "You, your not allowed to be here!" the cloaked man yelled.

"Like Hell I'm not!! This farm goes back five generations in my family, and you have no damn right being here!!!" Brutus yelled back. He ran at the cloaked figure and swung his axe...

Beatrice woke up from his drunken slumber. "Brutus, daddy need eggs...." Beatrice yelled, "confound it boy! GIVE ME EGGS!!!" After a few seconds of quite he immediatly went looking for him. He searched every room, but nothing. He then checked the boy's bed...the note was gone. "Boy! Don't go fight them evil peoples!! They evil and stuff...aww dang you not here! That means you went out with the stupid hair!! I needs ta get him the family helmet to cover his stupid hair!!" Beatrice yelled, and then he ran to his room. He searched through his trunk and grabbed a silver helmet that had a green emerald on it. He then busted out his door, leaving it in splinters, and without thinking he ran into town ignoring all the hungover bystandards.

(OOC: I second his views. I also feel less awesome by comparison to your writing.)

What is that idiot doing? Joseph thought to himself as he saw Brutus running across the field towards the Magi. Oh gods no! Why on earth would he go against them alone? We're a team, dangit! Grr, well I'll help clear out the rabble and then go to get Gen. Who knows what could happen if they use the Gigas!?

Stepping out from the shadows, Joseph rushed towards a nearby enemy, rod unveiled, and then slid across the ground on his knees to sweep the legs of the opponent. Once the opponent was lying face down on the ground he quickly stood and smashed his face with the end of his staff, knocking the man unconsious. "Hmph, who's next?" he called as he sheathed his staff in ice.

OOC: Hate to be "that guy", but this is impaired writing. My mind's all screwed up on these meds.

Gen could see movement in the distance. The big figure was obviously Brutus, but he was surrounded by cloaked figures. They looked like... that man in Balandor! Would they change into Gigas too?! Her pace quickened with her heart as she dashed to the scene. Joseph was already there, one of the figures at his feet.

Gen hopped up onto a large rock, leaping onto the back of one of the robed men. She drew the long dagger, bashing him in the head with the pommel. He fell to the ground unconscious. There was no need to kill them. Yet.

"Brutus! Joseph! Êtes-vou- Are you alright?" Dammit.

"All good here Gen. I was just about to come and get you. What say you that we split the small fry down the middle? I'll take the left, you take the right. The main guy over there facing Brutus looks pretty tough. I get a feel from magic from him and he was fast enough to easily evade the Balandor Guard. I figure that Brutus can handle him, though, at least for now," replied Joseph. He really hadn't been planning on facing the enemies out-right, instead hoping to catch them by surprise and take them down before they had a chance to respond. Judging by their shaky hands and wobbly knees, however, Joseph could tell that Brutus's assault followed by the arrival of Gen and Joseph and their subsequent dispatch of other Magi had scared the remaining enemies witless.

Good, thought Joseph, it's always nice to fight a group of enemies without their wits about them. No matter how strong the foe, the mind is a more powerful weapon still, and in this battle of the wills, it seems that they've come unarmed.

Without wasting a moment, Joseph turned to his set of enemies and began to ready Siren's Tear, the magic dowsing them with the power of water and seeping into their subconscious, drifting them to sleep. Taking advantage of this, Joseph rushed each individual enemy, unleashing a full on Ice based combo to each enemy he came across. By the time Joseph had eliminated three of this five adversaries the other two were beginning to wake. "Darn, looks like I've lost my biggest advantage," he grumbled. Shouting, he called to them. "Well? You waiting for a written invitation? Come at me!"

Beatrice finally stumbled upon the scene of the fight, he then looked past them all and saw Brutus fighting, and then he saw his head. "BRUTUS!!! HELMET TO COVER STUPID HAAIRRR!!! IS OUR FAMIREE"S Guuuud luck helmettt...catch!!" Beatrice yelled throwing the helmet. It sailed through the air and landed....smacking Brutus on the head.

"Dang it dad!!! That friggin hurt!!" Brutus said, the hit caused him to miss the hooded man, but he was pretty good and cut up by the hits he landed before. The hooded man then jumped back as Brutus reached for his helmet, and charged a large fire spell. He quickly fired it, and Brutus was knocked back just as soon as he put the helmet on.

"So what is this helmet supposed to do dad???" Brutus yelled. He recieved no answer, his dad was laying on the ground in a drunken sleep. Brutus checked the damage, he was currently wearing a nice piece of char, and had a few burns on his body. 'Ouch...that kinda hurt,' Brutus thought. He then ripped the useless remains of his shirt off, and then looked at the hooded man. "Great now you owe me a shirt, you will pay with your tears!" Brutus yelled rushing him once again with his axe in hand.

Something about that family just wasn't quite...

Gen didn't have time to reflect on this as one of the Magi grabbed her from behind. She yelped as he lifted her up, but she was quicker. He screamed as the dagger dug into his side, Gen knocking him out with a backhand. "Sorry." She apologized, drawing the throwing knives from her jacket. With ease, she flicked them at her foes, each of the blades hooking into the Magis' robes. She focused, pulling her hands to her chest. The magical wires became taught, twanging as they stretched to their limit. One more mighty pull later and eight of the Magi fell back, Gen wasting no time in assaulting them. She looked over to Joseph and Brutus as she pummeled one of the Magi, her attention drawn to the emerald helmet.

Like the family that possessed it, something about it was off...

Joseph put his staff in it's holding place at his back. Firey energy began to form within the palm of one outstretched hand, while icy energy formed within the other. "Twin Lance!" he shouted as he launched both a flame lance and an arctic lance at the two enemies, hardened warriors by the looks of them. They were still drowsy from the effects of the Siren's Tear and were in pain from it as well, inhibiting their ability to dodge, block, or otherwise defend themselves. Taking advantage of their awkward state, Joseph slammed his open palms to the ground and sent along a burst of energy. "Quake!" he exclaimed as spikes of earth jutted up and struck the enemies, ending with them flat on their backs. Joseph then looked to the other two as he downed a Mana potion to take the edge off of a coming headache.

"Oh gods!" Joseph thought as he saw the man facing Brutus pull out a special card. "A Gigas? Here? Now?"

(OOC: It's up to either Damion or AnsemTheWise to post about the Gigas, then we can start the battle. It's important that the battle seem hopeless, however, and as though we have no chance of winning.)

Brutus looked at the robe man. He had no idea that there were more than one of those things, but the words slipped from the robed man's lips,"Adventi.."

His form shifted into a giant Eagle-headed figure, and he was wielding a giant scythe. "Awww dang..." Brutus thought. Even his family's lucky helmet couldn't protect him from that!! The gigas charged at him, but Brutus stood firm...he was then punted a good fifteen feet away.

"Brutus!" Gen incapacitated the Magi she was sitting on before sprinting toward him. She stopped suddenly as the enormous scythe drove between them, however, the Gigas raking the weapon through the field. Gen tightend her grip on the dagger. Could she really fight such a creature? They had defeated the last one together, but this one was armed and at least six feet bigger in all directions.

But before she could decide what to do, the fight came to her. The Gigas charged, the earth splitting with each thunderous step. Gen threw one of her knives, the weapon, glancing off of its target. That wasn't good. She threw herself to the ground as the scythe whizzed over her head. She could hear the metal slicing through the air, rolling over in time to dodge the Gigas' stomp. This thing was fast for its size! Gen stumbled backward, almost jogging. She couldn't pierce this thing's hide with the weapons she had. Maybe if she got up to its head, but with the speed it was moving around that was unlikely. It seemed that there was only one good role for her right now: decoy.

"Hey!" She shouted, throwing another knife at the Gigas. "Over here!"

Brutus was in a swirly twirly black cloud. "Aww man...I knew I shouldn't have gambled so much...now I've gone straight to hell..." Brutus thought sadly. He looked up and saw a shirtless green ghostly monster. "Bahhh!!! Satan???" Brutus yelled. The ghost shook it's head, then put it's hands on Brutus's head...there was a bright flash, and the next thing he knew he was sitting at a table with chess infront of him. The ghost was sitting across from him with the black pieces. "Make your move, if you win you will learn my name and gain new power, but lose and I will take your soul," the ghost said. Brutus shivered but then smiled saying," You know, I once won thirty thousand in a game of chess." He moved his left knight forward two and right one. "Mission accepted!" Brutus said winking.

Meanwhile Brutus's body was flat on its face, and he appeared to be dead.

Thankful for Gen's distraction of the Gigas, Joseph took one of the inspectical cases and removed an inspectical from the wet solution it was being stored in. To many who were unfamiliar with inspecticals, putting the clear, film-like magical object into his eye would seem odd and even stupid. Joseph, however, had gotten used to it and his right eye adjusted when the magic bonded to it, the inspectical quickly dissolving, leaving it's magic behind. With his right eye he was able to dissern the enemy's elemental weaknesses. That is, he would have, if there had been any. In fact, the Gigas resisted damage from each of the four elements, much to the Mage's bane. To make matters even worse for the young wizard, blunt force attacks, the specialty of his weapon, were also weak against it. Great. Slashes did decent damage, apparently, but the monster would not like thrusting attacks at all.

"Gen!" he called, "The Gigas is weak to thrusting attacks! Don't try any elemental or blunt force attacks, though. Brutus, as for you, how about you get your lazy but off the ground and come kill this thing! Shouldn't be a problem for the great Troll-slayer, right?" Joseph knew that if they stood a chance at taking this monster down, Brutus had to be back. Without him, it would be pointless. Heck, with him it might be pointless.

Noticing the yelling coming from Joseph and not being able to land a good hit on his other illusive foe, the Gigas turned and swung his scythe, pointy end first, at Joseph's midsection. Much to Joseph's own surprise, he managed to backflip over the blade, and, even more impressively, land on his feet. The minor victory was short-lived, however, as the Gigas brought the weapon back with its next stroke, sending Seph flying back to crash to the ground coughing up blood. The commotion was loud enough to wake Beatrice, who, still in a drunken state, yelled "Get ouffa my laand!" before chucking his half empty wine bottle at the Gigas's face, the bottle breaking and casting wine all over it. Joseph managed to pull himself together just enough to toss a fireball, which satisfactorily made the remaining wine combust in an explosion. Joseph smirked, but his happiness soon ended when he saw the Gigas simply shrugging the blast off. "Oh gods!" he thought, "What are we even facing here?"

Thrusting attacks were supposed to be effective, yet her throwing knives simply glanced off of the Gigas' hide. Gen tightened her grip on the dagger as she flanked the beast. It seemed that she would have to do this the old-fashioned way.

Gen latched onto the Gigas as it reeled forward, its face obcured by the flaming spirits. She held on as tight as she could as the beast whipped around, beating the fire out with its free hand. Finally able to see, the Gigas notice Gen right before she took her blade to it. The dagger pierced its hide, though barely. It let out a deafening cry, Gen wincing as she was knocked to the ground.

It felt as though a building had been dropped on top of her. Gen tried to breathe in, but the pain shot through her chest every time she tried. Her vision coming back into focus, Gen barely rolled herself to the side as the Gigas swung the scythe down, shattering the ground where she had been.

Joseph removed himself from the Gigas's line of fire for a moment to cast a heal spell on Gen, not bothering with himself. He could still stand alright, and that was good enough. He used Mana Thrust repetitively, but to no real avail. Certainly, it was doing damage, but not to the extent that was required to take the brute out. Seph was beginning to feel a bit light headed as well, which wasn't a good sign for his magic. He only hoped that Brutus would get up soon. There was a reason a three man attack squad was the minimum for any big game. Without him, they were as good as dead already.

The two looked at the board... "Stalemate..." Brutus said with a sigh. The ghost looked at him sadly and said," Really? How the heck did this happen???"

Brutus then pulled out a coin and smirked. "How bout a game of chance? Heads I win, tails you do?"Brutus said. The ghost nodded, and then Brutus threw up the coin. It spun around in the air. When it landed the ghost began laughing...

OOC: Ah, ghost laughter... we're dying!!!

Gen scrambled to pull herself up, Joseph's spell pulsing through her quickly. She stumbled, turning back as the Gigas swung again. She fell to the ground, the scythe grazing the top of her hair. She threw herself forward, breaking into a run. The Gigas looked down at her. That thing just wouldn't hold still.

It reached down, grabbing Gen. She was rocked forward, the dagger falling to the ground. Great. She managed to slip one of the throwing knives out from her jacket, but the blade was too small; it couldn't pierce the Giga's tough outer skin. She let out a cry as it tightened its grip. Gen took as deep a breath as she could manage, glancing over to Brutus, who was still lying there. What was he doing?!

Joseph quickly launched a slew of Mana Thrusts at the arm which was tightly "frabbing" (because that's what you said lol. I love typos, they make things funny) Gen. Joseph's nose suddenly began bleeding slightly from over exertion. "Great," he thought as the Gigas's scythe swung around towards him. Joseph ducked under the blade but was unprepared for when the Gigas slammed its foot down at him, knocking him back. He landed next to Gen's dagger so he tossed it to the ground near her. Seph temporarily considered using a heal spell on himself but decided it would be useless. What good would it do if healing himself caused just as much strain on his body as the outside damage? Getting up to his wobbly feet, Joseph took a few steps forward. What he would give for the ability to regenerate Mana with not but a simple prayer as he'd seen others do!

Brutus stood up, and said," Sorry I was down so long, but this will make it up I swear!!! Tyranous, berserker of the Ancient lands, give me your power!!! VERTO!" He slipped the face protector of the helmet down (Making it look like a Gondorian helmet from LotR), and he was almost instantly transformed into a shiny green knight weilding a huge axe. The knight's eyes glowed green, and he swung at the gigas and knocked it backwards. The gigas was on its back, and the knight ran forward and prepared to swing its axe once more...

Gen fell to the ground as the Gigas fell back. The sound of the earth being torn apart surrounded her, but she didnt know what was happening until she looked to the fight. What was ithat thing?! Could it be... Brutus?

IT looked like an enormous suit of armor wielding an axe. She had heard of something like this before, althoug she couldn't exactly recall the details. But what she did remember told Gen that they could win this fight.

His axe met with the Gigas's leg which made a huge wound. It was staggered which worked out perfectly. "Now I can hit you all I want!!" Brutus thought. His knight then began spinning the axe around in a showy manner, then stopped the blade beside the Gigas's neck, and then swung...
