Sora2 84 Posted December 21, 2011 Right it all depends on how you like to study. A couple of tips. 1. Listen to music it gets your mind off of bored and helps you remember because your listening to something you enjoy. 2. If it is a important point or you can not remember the point make notes on it and ever so often when your not studying look at the notes for a minute then carry on whatever you were doing. 3.Revise in periods such as one hour then take a break because after a while your mind loses focuses. 4. Just because you worked for three hours does not mean you worked as hard as you can. for example I revise for 30 minutes and really focus. this could be the same as me studying for one hour because I do not really try. Finally do not go over the top you burn yourself out so find a balance. 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this

heartless101 83 Posted December 21, 2011 Listen to music, make bullet points, instead of actual sentences when you take notes, purchase a small rubber ball and toss it around so you won't get bored, and finally, after every hour of studying, take a 10-15 minute break. 2 Snow and Nikolasvanitas reacted to this

Oishii 3,987 Posted December 22, 2011 Things are easier to remember if you try to relate it to yourself. You can't do it with everything, but just trying to think of something that it's similar to can help you recall it better. Also, I'm a visual person so, for history, I like to visualize the things the book describes. The mental image helps me remember it better. What else is good to do is check yourself after working for a while. Like for reading, instead of telling myself I have to read 1 chapter of the textbook, I say that I have to learn 1 chapter. As you read, make sure to check yourself on whether you actually remember the things you read before. I like to keep track of how much time it takes me to do something too. That helps me regulate my time better. Good luck studying~ 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this
Lu Xun 2,069 Posted December 22, 2011 I can't help much cause I study with my grandmother... She makes questions out of the books, I read and memorize, and then she asks everything to me. Usually, to memorize 80 pages [in questions of course] I take 2-3hours. But yeah, if you don't have anyone to help you, try to relate the study with your life, that way you'll end up finding the act of studying something cool and funny, and not an obligation. Breaks are also important... I myself should start taking breaks 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this
Xeon 1 Posted December 22, 2011 The human attention span is rather short so definitely listen to everyone who says take a break every hour or so, including myself. Make flashcards, reading something over and over gets tedious and you're not truly committing the information to memory that effectively. And if it at all possible, make sure you're in an environment where you're more likely to actually study and not slack off. Your classroom is a good example if you have the time before class since we tend to remember things easier when we're in the location we received the information. Good luck. 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this

Leaxel 178 Posted December 22, 2011 1. Music always helps. 2. Energy drinks so you never crash 3. order Chinese food cause it's goooood 4. when you have studied like 1 and a half hour you deserve a 30 min break. Just make sure you study and that you're not watching cat videos on youtube. I guess this would help you study for finals or something. 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this
Weedanort 8,786 Posted December 22, 2011 Listen to soothing music. It always helps. Have a small cookie after 1 hour of studying. You always need energy when studying. Try to study at least 4 hours per day. 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. You can always resume what you studied in the night. Always have everything ordered where you study. A messy studying place won't help. Stay away from Facebook, kh13, and other websites. You need to be focused while studying. Always sleep at least 8 hours per day. It'll help you study right in the beggining of the morning. Try to go to bed before midnight. When you go to sleep after midnight, it's very tiresome to study when you wake up early. Hope these tips help 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this
FlipMode 141 Posted December 22, 2011 Don't get bored... Boredom is but a state of mind, ignore it and carry on studying. You shouldn't be bored if you have an interest in the subjects you have chosen to study, but if you do then ignore it and choose to be happy instead, remember what you are doing will pay off in the end. I study my subjects when I start to get bored as I then have something to do and thus the boredom is eliminated, of course many people will tell you many different answers. But I usually like to make sure I am active and awake before I study. A good bit of physical exercise is good for you physically and mentally... More than you will ever know unless you try it.... None more does the trick than a nice long bike ride IMO, especially when the weather is nice. Plus take water with you on the ride and you get the benefits of drinking water as opposed to soda, which is also good for your mind. Just find something that works for you, and make a routine of it. 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this

Nikolasvanitas 358 Posted January 3, 2012 For me, it's all about being determined to be the best true ,if you have determination you can do anything but the tips from everyone here are really helpful so thanks again
FlipMode 141 Posted January 3, 2012 Yeah even determination IMO is not enough. I mean one can be determined to do anything, but it does not mean it will be achievable unless you know the right steps to take first, which is what this thread was really about =D . I definitely do find it more of a case of just being in the right frame of mind more than anything else though. Sometimes I study because I am bored though, I mean what else am I going to do? Sit and twiddle my thumbs? Look at random junk on the internet? Or learn more about stuff I am interested in while simultaneously improving my grades? Its a no brainer sometimes (no pun intended) 1 Nikolasvanitas reacted to this
