Prologue -

 

“In the past, there has been a person that turned completely into a darkness creature, and received the name of “Lady of the Hell”. She was a forty-five years woman, named Grazielle, had beautiful blue eyes, which looked like the water’s color, had a straight black long hair, was tall -- but after choosing to turn into darkness -- she changed completely. Before doing so, however, when she was twenty-five, she had a daughter, named Heidi, which was just as beautiful as her mother. The only difference between the two of them was that, this girl was pure, generous, cared about the others, and had love inside her heart.

 

Seeing as how different they were, the mother abandoned her daughter. Thankfully, the girl was found by a woman that lived in a village, which was where Grazielle had left her daughter. The woman who found her had a good heart, just like Heidi had. With time, Heidi grew up, and so, when she was eighteen-years old, she discovered that the woman who took care of her was not her biological mother.

 

Sad and with anger, she decided to look out for her real mother, and discover why she refused to create her herself. Kira, the woman who had raised her, was completely against Heidi’s idea, but her opinion no longer mattered -- the girl who was now an adult -- had really decided to find out about her past.

 

Two years passed, and her mother was now with forty-five years. Heidi was now with twenty-years, and she had not gone back home in these two years. She had not found anything so far, but yet she decided to keep looking a bit more. One day, a stranger, who kept wondering why the twenty-years old woman was crying in the road, asked her what was the problem that had made she cry.

 

She explained everything to him, and then, he said that he knew a woman that had abandoned a child in a village -- her name was Grazielle. Heidi stayed interested in the story, and decided to go to the stranger’s house, where he would explain everything to her. However, this was just a trap. Her mother, Grazielle, had learned how to use black magic, and so she used a magical spell to change herself into a man. She discovered that her daughter did not die, and so, she decided to kill her now.

 

This would not be her first crime. She killed her husband, who was a strong man, that like Heidi, had a good heart, and also, strangely, that man was able to use some magic as well. It was not an easy task, but she managed to put fire in his house, and let he burn there until he finally died. But now, she had the opportunity to kill his useless daughter.

 

As soon as both of them entered in the house, the stranger locked the door and revealed who he truly was; Grazielle. Heidi screamed, but there was no one around to save her. Suddenly, she heard a voice that said “To defeat her, you’ll need to sacrifice yourself.”. With no other option, and about to be attacked by her own mother, Heidi said the historical words “May the light and dark fight, and neither win. I sacrifice myself to destroy this evil person that has given herself to the darkness.”

 

After she said these words, it is said that both of them died at the same minute. However, Lady of the Hell promised to return in 1,000 years after. She had made a dark pact that allowed her to return to life 1,000 years later, but with a body that no one would be able to recognize. This happened in the year 999, or it is at least as the tale says.

 

If she had succeded, and killed her daughter, she would be able to get the magical ark that guards the power of one God that no longer exists. However, as both she and Heidi died, the ark was sealed, and four magical stones were created and appeared in different places. To unlock the magical ark once again, one needed to gather the four stones and go to an ancient place, where the ark quietly awaits.”

 

A thin, fifty-years old woman told this tale to her son, which had only ten-years old. In eight years, it would be the year 1999, which was the year when Lady of the Hell promised to return and get the power of the God back. The boy believed that he could defeat the evil woman, and be known around the entire world, but he also wanted to get the power to destroy the monsters, which had become a real threat to humanity. This boy did not have a father, and he had never met him. His mother told him that he had died before he was born. But that was not the truth.

 

His father was a monster, and so they had another son, which stayed with him. They were forbidden to marry, and were forced to be separated by a tragic event.

 

However, even the monsters have evolved with time -- the boy’s father could talk, think and prepare strategies. Around the year 1940, new monsters began to arise -- and worse, they could talk and use weapons. They also desired to get the stones, to bring an end to the humans. It was finally the year 1999. This year was sure to be one to remember.

Chapter 1 - The horrible year comes

 

Finally, the boy that had heard the tale of the Lady of Hell was eighteen-years old. He was member of the royal family of a city named ‘Gito Town’, which had its monarchy abolished years ago. His mother was a brave woman, named Celia, and was always with him. However, the boy, named Felipe, soon would have to take up to the responsibility of being the commander of Gito’s Army, which was an army that had the duty of protecting the city and everyone that lived there. His mother, named Atin, was not sure if he was already prepared to take after Math, the current commander of Gito’s Army.

 

An old woman had been seen in an area near the town, and according to a man that lived in the town and had met the old woman, she looked suspicious. So, Felipe, and the girl, which was one year older than him, his best friend, and was named Naula, went to the area to see this old woman. However, as soon as they arrived, they saw her being attacked by some squirrels. Both of them stood to face the wild animals and so the old woman hide herself in a safe place.

 

Soon, there could no longer be seen any of the squirrels alive. Felipe and Naula had fought bravely, and managed to defeat the enemies quickly. The old woman noticed a mark on Felipe’s arm, and asked if he had gotten hurt during the battle, but he replied that he had that since he was born.

 

Then, the old woman said that she was exploring the area to see if there was something valuable around. Felipe and Naula left the place and went back to the town. They told Math that the old woman did not seem dangerous, nor so suspicious as the man had told them.

 

To perform special attacks, people needed a magical source, which they’ve had recently found in a mine, which was a little far away from the town. Some miners have gone there days ago, but they had not yet returned, and so Math was worried.

 

They went with a few members of the Gito’s Army, just in case if any monster showed up. Unfortunately, some monsters with wings, that of course, could speak and use magic, showed up. Math went to the forest near the mine, and saw one member of the Gito’s Army injured. He took him to the town, where Celia treated him. Thankfully, it had not been life-threatening.

 

After treating him, Celia stood talking to Math in a private room. Math called Naula and the other members of the Gito’s Army to head to the main square of the town, where they would talk about their next mission. Felipe told Celia that he would also join the fray. However, when he appeared there, Math forbid him from going with them, saying that the city’s defense will be highly lowered now. So, Felipe and a few members that were left in the city would be responsible for protecting it.

 

Felipe did not trust that, and so he went to talk with his mother, Celia. She told him that she ordered Math to forbid him from joining this battle, because he would only fight with feelings of hatred and anger. Felipe stood furious and decided to take a walk around the town.

Chapter 2 - A New Friend

 

Felipe then decided to find a way to go to the battle. While walking around the town, he found a boy, named Otiop, who asked him if he and his friends could play in the castle’s ruins. The castle’s ruins where just after the town, and were connected thanks to a big gate.

 

However, a member of Gito’s Army, Yuri, had locked it because a strange and wild monster had been stealing food from the town -- and they had found out that this monster comes from the Castle’s ruins. Felipe went to the door, and from there he heard a voice that came from the other side.

 

It was familiar. After some seconds, Felipe managed to recognize the voice; it was that old woman that had been saved by Felipe and Naula. Strangely, this time she seemed to be ordering, rather than asking him to open the gate so she could stay at an inn for a while. She couldn’t get to the town because the entrance was full of guards, who did not let her in.

 

Felipe then asked Yuri if he could give him the key because he would get rid of the monkey monster -- and also go to where the other members of Gito’s army had gone.

 

Then, he managed to open the door, where the old woman thanked him and said that her name was Domitília. Felipe also thanked her -- but she stood wondering why he did so, because she did not help him. Felipe headed to the forest, where he heard a voice.

 

“Leave now, or die.,” the voice said.

“Show yourself. I will destroy you!,” Felipe replied.

 

Then, an arrow fell near Felipe. He saw that it had came from a tree, and threw it back. The monkey monster then fell on the ground, and Felipe noticed that it was not a monster, but a person wearing a mask. However, before they could talk, some monsters appeared.

 

One of them was to big, and the person with the mask was frightened of it. Felipe then asked how that person could live in a forest and be frightened of a monster. Then they decided to fight the monsters together.

 

In less than twenty minutes, all of the monsters had been defeated. If they didn’t decide to work together, no one could tell if they would have defeated the monsters. The person wearing the mask removed it, and so Felipe found out that it was a boy.

 

The boy’s name was Pedro, and so Pedro asked if he could go with Felipe to wherever he was going to.

 

“I love being alone and all, but could I join you?” Pedro asked.

“What? Don’t you love this style of living?” Felipe replied with a question.

“I do... But I’ve been alone for so much time... I wanted to have a friend to be with sometimes...” Pedro asked.

“Okay, I think I’m fine with it... Do you know where’s a mine named Plumb Canyon?” Felipe replied.

“Yes, I’ll take you there... but before... do you see this crown in my neck? I’m a prince, and even though we’re friends -- I’m still your superior, right?” Pedro replied.

From the Plumb Canyon -- a mine near the forest. Also, the forest is full of monsters, but it's too big -- that's why they don't face them all the time.

Chapter 3 - Just in Time

 

Felipe and his newest friend kept heading to Plum Canyon. Some minutes later, they had finally arrived. The situation for Gito’s Army was not good; Math and the other soldier could not flee because three monsters, which had wings, and could use magics, were blocking the way.

 

Naula was in serious danger as well. She had been left alone, and soon was surrounded by two monsters of that same kind and two monster like dragons -- but that could not fly. Pedro was the one that saw that Naula is in danger.

 

“That girl’s in trouble!” he said.

“Girl? Where?” Felipe replied.

“There! She’s surrounded -- but the other guys are with some troubles as well.” he said.

“Math -- I’m sorry -- but I need to help Naula -- your daughter, first! Let’s go Pedro!” Felipe said.

 

Some seconds later, Naula saw her friend approaching, and now with hope, she said his name -- in a calm, happy way.

 

“Felipe...” Naula said.

 

Now, the battle started. Felipe picked his sword, Naula used a weapon that was a knife with a rope, that way she could throw it in a high distance, and kill enemies easier. Pedro picked his bow, and started to use some arrows at the monsters that resembled dragons.

 

They decided to split up. While Pedro was going to fight the ‘dragons’, Naula and Felipe were going to fight the monster that could use magic.

 

“Binding Arrows!” Pedro said and managed to paralyze the dragons. Meanwhile, Naula threw her knife and managed to kill one of the three monster. Felipe also used his sword and destroyed another. But the third and last one used a tornado on Felipe, and he fell unconscious on the ground.

 

Naula threw her knife -- and she also used a special attack where the knife could burn the enemy once it touched it -- and managed to kill the last one. She quickly approached Felipe, and tried to wake him up -- but she just was not able to.

 

Then, she decided to help Pedro. They used a combined attack -- while Pedro was using thirty arrows, Naula threw her knife with fire five times... The enemy did not stand the smallest chance of surviving. They quickly disappeared from this world.

 

Now that all of the enemies had been defeated, Naula and Pedro approached Felipe, and thankfully, managed to wake him up. But just then, before they could talk about anything, Math and the other soldiers had managed to defeat their enemies, and so Math came to Felipe.

 

“What is this, Mr. Felipe? You can’t risk yourself like this -- After all, you and your mother are the only ones from the royal family -- We should be protecting you, and not you rescuing us.” Math said.

“I don’t care about that -- The monarchy was abolished years ago, and I can take of myself --” Felipe said.

“And dad, if he did not come, we would probably be dead right now -- I was about to lose all the hope I had --” Naula said.

“Even so, I would prefer to die than to see him dying -- He got hurt -- what if he had got seriously injured, and say, lost an arm or an leg? Or even died? We’re going back to the town. Come with us, Naula.” Math said this and left the area with Naula. He left the soldiers at Plumb Canyon to help the miners.

 

Pedro and Felipe asked the soldiers which route did Math and Naula take to go to the town, and they replied that he went from Tuyo Forest -- the opposite way from the one both of them had taken to go there.

 

So, they went to Tuyo Forest, and as soon as they arrived, they saw two monsters -- apparently a mother and a son, but the of them had been seriously injured, and died a few seconds after they were seen by Pedro and Felipe.

 

They walked a bit more, and saw Math and Naula facing a very strong monster, which seemed to be husband and dad of the ones that had died.

 

“You humans -- I’ll kill you both -- I’ll never forgive you for killing my family!” the monster said.

 

Then, Pedro and Felipe picked their weapons and approached the monster. Now, surrounded by four humans, he decided to retreat, since there was only a very small possibility that he would be the one left alive once the battle was over.

 

After the monster retreated, Naula approached Felipe and Pedro. But Math remained where he was.

 

“So, who’s the kid?” Naula asked.

“I’m not a kid.. My name’s Pedro! And I’m a prince... See the crown?” Pedro replied.

“Let’s leave it for later. So Naula, how did you find that monster?” Felipe asked.

“Well.. As soon as we arrived here, we split up, and then, when I returned here.. dad was already fighting that monster, and then I joined him...” Naula replied.

“So, is your dad hurt?” Pedro asked.

“I don’t think so...” Naula.

 

Then, Felipe looked to Math, who seemed to be very injured -- he almost could not stay up.

 

“Math..?” Felipe said.

 

Suddenly, Math fell on the ground. Naula hurried to her dad, but when she touched his arm, she noticed that he was dead.

 

“Father? Father? FATHEEEEEEEEEEEER, please!!!!!!!” Naula screamed.

 

In the next day, after they buried Math, Naula kneel down to Atin -- Felipe’s mother.

 

“I’ll never forgive them! I’ll never forgive the monsters...! Queen Nafia... I’ll protect this country with Felipe.” Naula said while crying.

 

“That’s enough... There will be no more victims... I’ll protect everyone until the end! You’ll see monsters -- The Humans will be victorious in the end!” Felipe thought this to himself, while watching how sad his best friend was because of the monsters.
