Not-with-a-whimper 144 Posted November 26, 2011 Well that's unfortunate. Most parents disown their kids if they don't go to college. I'm rooting for you! 1 Queen Tery reacted to this

Kingdom Sora 464 Posted November 26, 2011 Disowning you for college? What ever happened to "Go to college to have a better life"? Not "GO TO COLLEGE AND I'LL DISOWN YOU!" O_O 1 Queen Tery reacted to this

Grimmjow 839 Posted November 26, 2011 May I ask what their reason is to not wanting you to go to college? But I think you do the right thing.

Most surveys say that they don't want to deal with any more school work.... Oh..and... I wouldn't call them my own parents in my book; Disowning if you don't go? Really? I was in the same boat my mom didn't want to hear the word college economy is tough parents don't want to be tied down to the finanacial obligations(most loans need a cosigner due to lack credit on students behalf). Guidance counselers get students hyped for college but fail to prepare them on how to get money to after high school (luckily i found multiple ways for it to work out with no loans) I wish you the best of luck and if anything you can add me to your support list. Remember you want something in life take it.

That's how parents see it anyway. My Mom and Dad see me as their child, not their adult lol If you become a parent someday, you won't care how old your child gets. They're still going to be your child.
Oishii 3,987 Posted November 26, 2011 Are they doing it for financial reasons so that when you file you don't have to record their income? I know my father considered disowning me so I can have financial aid.

That's how my dad is with my sister. She went to college once but got into the drinking life, dropped out, got pregnant... really he has reason not to trust her going back to school. But for your parents to not believe in you is ridiculous. You should take advantage of the financial aid and prove them wrong 2 shadowblade and spenskh89 reacted to this

You're like in your 20s right spens? IMO You should've been planning to move out already and shouldn't really care if they 'disown' you or not since you're legally an adult and they really don't have any power over you so do whatever you want. Also you're using the world bastard incorrectly, you're only a bastard child if you were born out of wedlock.
