Yeah, a new story, but this time it isn’t about kh. Well, it does have some things that can remind you on kh, like a power of friendship, mystical powers, being chosen for something… Story will focus on a normal teenage boy ( how original! ) who lives a normal life. But then something happens and he meets a mysterious girl, who seems to know something….

And that will also be a story where I'll use characters simmilar to some of my kh13 friends! So keep reading if you're my kh13 friend!!!

Chapter One: Flying Through the Memories

Another school day was over and Alex was going home. Boys met up with their gangs, while girls were going towards the shopping centre. Alex wasn’t one of them. And yet, it seemed like none sees him. He was kinda used to that life. You’re in the backstage, all alone, none cares…

For him that was ok, because he liked to be alone. Well, he wasn’t completely invisible. For girls, of course. For them he was “the cutest thing in the school”. And that was true. Unlike his classmates, he had red spiky hair and bright green eyes. Girls were totally crazy about that.

But Alex was still lonely. Even thought girls were crazy about him, he never had an actual friend. All other boys called him a “nerd” or something even weirder. They didn’t like him because, he was different.

Alex loved drawing.

Every day after the school, he went in park and drew in his sketchbook. That was his relaxation after the school. Right now he was sitting under the tree while he was drawing a girl. He didn’t know why, but the thing he most liked to draw were girls. Drawing was almost finished, when he was thinking about girl’s hairstyle.

“Let’s see…”

Pencil was drawing by itself. Soon after, girl had two long ponytails. While looking on her, he thought what kind of personality she would have.

“Cool… creative… never squealing… loyal… an adventurist!”

All those thinking about that girl made his head heavy, so he decided to go home.

“Too bad that kind of girl doesn’t exist…”

He walked towards the small apartment, near the park. This was his home since he was 3. That was the age when he lost his parents in a car accident. Fortunately his uncle raised him into a smart and creative kid. But unfortunately, he was always busy.
Like now, apartment was empty. Alex sighed and looked on the message that was lying on the table.
Hey there Kiddo!
Today I had a bit more work to do, so I’ll be late. I left you some money if you’ll be hungry.

His stomach talked faster than his head. Alex was very hungry duo to his small lunch that he had in school. He took the bike from the garage and rode it towards the shop. It was pretty far away and yet, it started raining.

“Great! Now I’ll have to eat in the shop!”

And that was true. 20 minutes later, he was standing next to the shopkeeper, eating a sandwich and french fries.

“So, how’s school?” shopkeeper asked.
“Like always… nothing new…” Alex said.

Alex came to eat in this shop often, so shopkeeper pretty memorized him. Shopkeeper’s name was Flynn and he had shaved blond hair, with a ring in his ear. He was also the one of Alex’s only friends.

“It’s getting late. I have to go home.”
“Hey, it’s raining outside. Why don’t you wait here until it stops?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“Be careful…”

Alex nearly regretted that he didn’t listen to Flynn. The rain got from bad to worse and road was full of water. His mind was full of memories again.

“Can I play around the puddles, mom?”
“Of course you can, dear. Just be careful!”
“Don’t worry mommy I will.”

A tear drop slipped down to his cheek when he was thinking about it. The last walk with his mom just before she died in that car accident along with his dad…

His thinking was broken by loud lighting in the sky. Alex now realized that he’s getting wetter by every second.

“Man, I need a shower when I come home.”

When he was about to turn in his street, a giant van rushed right into him!

Alex didn’t feel the pain when van crush into him. He only felt the feeling of flying that ended with a pain on the ground. Driver seemed to realize what he had just done. He quickly came out of his car.

“Hey, can you hear me? Are you alright?”

There was no reply. Alex was just laying on the ground, bleeding.

“ Oh, my goodness.” driver said as he looked on Alex’s wounds.

Driver quickly called an ambulance on his cell phone.

“Please come quick… I hit a kid with my car… yes, on the 4^th street… he’s bleeding! Hurry!”

While man was phoning, Alex saw someone in the corner. His sight was foggy, so he couldn’t fully see it. But he did saw a girl, who looked exactly like from his sketchbook.

That was the last thing he saw before passing out.

When the ambulance arrived was already too late. Even thought doctors connected him with many life – saving machines, his heart didn’t beat. His skin turned pale as his eyes stared into the corner where that girl was…

Alex’s life was taken away.

Chapter Two: He’s the One…

 

All he could see was a pitch black, nothing else. A black corridor that never ends… shadows covered by even darker shadows… but what was that? Something was shinning much brighter than anything. He followed it, when something stopped him from doing it.

 

“It’s not your time yet, my boy.” mysterious voice said.

“What do you mean?” Alex asked.

“You still have a purpose… but not in this or your world.”

“I don’t understand.”

“You don’t need to. Just follow the darkness not a light and you’ll see the answer.”

“Wait! What’s goin’ on?”

“You’re the one…”

 

In that moment, place started spinning and rolling like a worst nightmare. His head hurt when he tried to move. Light was disappearing as more darkness covered him…

 

“Doctor! He… is… he’s waking up!”

“Impossible! His heart didn’t beat for an hour.”

“He’s alive! Quick! Call the others! We’ll need help!”

 

Alex slowly opened his eyes, to see a nurse who put a gas mask on him. His eyes soon closed, duo to the strong lights and people who were coming closer. He was in hospital… but why? His mind was too weak to think and he soon fell asleep.

 

Many hours passed while he was sleeping. Doctors haven’t seen such a miracle. They found out who he was from the ID in his wallet and informed his uncle. Now he was waiting in clinic’s waiting room.

Then one of the doctors came.

 

“How is he? Please, tell me if my nephew is ok! I can’t lose him just like my brother!”

“Calm down, Mr. Lander! I think you better come with me and I’ll explain thing to you.”

 

Alex’s uncle nodded and followed the doctor to the one room. There he was, lying on the bed with a gas mask over his face. His breathing was slow, but at least he was breathing. He was also very shocked about Alex’s condition. Cuts, bruisers, burns and many broken bones.

 

“Your nephew was hit by inattentive driver of the van. He quickly inform ambulance about it and we came as fast as we could. We were stabilizing his condition, but when we brought him here his heart didn’t beat anymore…”

“I don’t understand. Why’s he alive then?”

“That the biggest mystery! We thought that he died, so we left him in a room for the dead patients. And right when we were about to inform you, that he died, he suddenly woke up. His condition is stabilized now and he will need to rest for at least a month.”

“I see… Thank you… for everything.”

“Well, he is the lucky one. For now you’ll need to leave. He still needs some time of proper care to fully recover. But you can come visit him.”

“I will, every day.”

 

Weeks pasted and he always kept his promise. Even though he wasn’t awake, uncle talked with him like he was. Sometimes even his classmates came to visit. Mostly because they were worried and they also wanted to say that they miss him. Alex didn’t hear them. He didn’t hear any sounds or feel any warmth. His wounds were healed, but his mind was sleeping. That was also the thread for his doctor.

 

“When he will awake?” uncle asked.

“I don’t know. Physically he’s fine, no more cuts or bruisers, just a few broken bones. The problem is his mind.” doctor said.

“You mean he’s in coma?”

“It would appear so… I’m sorry.”

“It’s… alright. I think he only needs some time to wake up.” uncle said and left the room.

 

Doctor noticed the water in his eyes. Why did that happened to him? When he was about to leave as well, someone else came. It was a girl in grey jeans and light green jacket.

 

“Can I help you dear?”

“I came to visit my classmate, Alex Lander.”

“I haven’t seen you… with others.”

“I’m a new transfer student and I only wanted to see if he’s ok.”

“Well, the visiting hours are almost over, so don’t be there too long.”

“I won’t.”

When she made sure she’s alone, she stepped closer to Alex’s bed. Her tiny hand gently touched his pale forehand and chest, as she showed her triangle necklace.

 

“Listen… I know that you’re tired, but you can’t just sleep like that. You came here to survive.”

 

With those words he slowly opened his eyes. At first he wasn’t exactly sure what is going on. Her voice sound so familiar and gentle. He took a closer look on her. She seemed about 15 years old, just like him. But the thing most special about her was the hairstyle. Two long blond pony tails. The same girl he drew just before the accident.

 

“Who are you?” he asked with a weak voice.

“I’m Roxy, one of your classmates.”

“I haven’t seen you before…”

“That’s because I’m a transfer student.”

“Right… why did you come?”

“I can’t talk about this here and now. One day you’ll know everything.” she said when she was leaving.

“Wait! Don’t leave me here!”

 

Axel even tried to stand up.

 

“Don’t! You’ll just gonna hurt yourself.”

“But I wanna know!”

“Listen you’ll hear the story, when you’ll be ready. For now just try to rest. You may woke up, but your body is still weak.”

 

After that she left.

 

“Roxy…” he whispered as he stared in the ceiling.

Chapter Three: Answers?

 

When Alex finally got home, school was coming to the end. He did miss a lot, but he didn’t care. All he could think of was Roxy. What does she know about him? Is she normal?

Unfortunately it was the Friday when he came home. So he will need to wait the whole weekend until he’ll saw her. Alex sighted and began looking for his sketchbook. While looking for it, he remembered one important thing. The sketchbook was in his schoolbag when he had that accident!

 

“Uncle? Have you seen my sketchbook? I can’t find it.” he asked his uncle.

“Alex… I’m sorry, but… your drawings were destroyed by rain. I know it meant a lot to you… so, I bought you a new one.”

 

Alex didn’t know what to say. All those drawings were gone just like that. He sadly took the new one and went to his room. While he was trying to write that girl again, it started to rain.

 

“Just like that day…”

 

Suddenly he heard knocking on his window. On the sill was a bird with light feathers that remind on Roxy’s hair. Bird was all wet and it was shivering from the cold. Alex felt sorry for it so, he let it in. Bird happily flew around him, rubbing its head on Alex’s arm.

 

“Well hello there birdie! Glad to know that you’re alright.”

“Alex! I’m going on that business trip. I left you some grilled chicken if you’ll be hungry. ” uncle shouted.

“Ok.”

 

Bird was still inside his room, looking at his drawing.

 

“Do you like it? I’m trying to meet up with this girl, but I just don’t find a way to do it.”

 

His stomach ended the talking. He was as hungry as a wolf.

 

“Are you hungry too? Come with me, I’ll give you something.”

 

Golden bird happily nodded and flew to his shoulder. Alex felt cool, having a bird on his shoulder. When he came in the living room, he turned on the tv. It was almost the time for the news.

 

“Welcome to the 1 Channel News! Today are politicians discussing about…”

 

While tv was on, Alex went to the kitchen for grilled chicken. When he got back, bird was on the couch, watching tv with an interest.

 

“A now for the breaking news. Mr. Jack Wale was recording missing since the last week. He used to drive a van for his job, but was fired when he accidently hit the kid with it…”

 

Wait a sec! That’s the same guy, who almost killed him.

 

“… man was last seen at his working place, on the same day he was fired.”

 

Weird, why was that man missing? Did he runaway? His thinking was broken by that bird again. Now it started eating piece of the grilled chicken.

 

“You sure are the smart bird.” he said while stroking it.

 

After news was over, movie started. It didn’t seem interesting, so he decided to go in bed after the first commercials. But something else made him get up just after that. He heard knocking on the door. Who the hell would come at nine o’clock in night?

Alex sighted and went open it. But he didn’t regret that he did that. The person, who was knocking, was the girl who was trying so hard to meet up with. Girl with two long pony tails.

 

“Hi there! I’m looking for my hawk. Have you seen her?” she asked.

“The… bird… he… I mean… she… living room…” he tried to say.

 

He was a way more confused to give a proper answer. Luckily that golden bird came to look in the hall.

 

“Spark! There you are! Don’t you ever do anything like that again!” she said to the bird with some sorta angry voice.

“Spark? Is that his… I mean her name?” Alex asked.

“Yeah, she’s my hawk. Thank you so much for finding her. I was looking for her for about four hours already.”

 

While she was talking, Spark flew on her shoulder. They both seem awfully similar, duo to Spark’s golden feathers and girl’s blonde hair.

 

“Well, guess I should be going then, bye.” she said when she was about to leave.

“No, wait!” Alex shouted.

 

Girl confusedly stood still.

 

“Please, come in. It’s very cold and rainy outside.” he quietly said.

 

She carefully went in, removing her grey coat.

 

“You’re Roxy, aren’t you? You where there when that van hit me.”

“Yeah, that’s my name.”

“What is that you’re trying to tell me? Anytime I want to ask you that, something breaks the conversation. I wanna know!”

 

Roxy sighted and along with Spark sited on the couch.

 

“You need to listen very carefully, but before that I need to do one test.”

“What kind of test?”

“Just sit and you’ll see.”

 

Alex sited next to her, looking directly into her beautiful bright blue eyes. She took some kind necklace from her neck. It was really weird, in a shape of triangle. Higher part of triangle had a hawk with spread wings on it. Lower part had a straight snake and in the middle of it was a wolf’s head. Roxy touched Alex’s chest, using that necklace. He felt a little weird, but cool too.

After a few minutes passed, Roxy removed it.

 

“You’re ready…”

“For what?”

“For hearing the whole story…”

“Oh, right.”

“As you may know, you are different. Just like me. Since that accident, weird things are happening to you…”

“Yeah, why?”

“It’s because, you died. In that car accident, you were dead for one hour. But you got the second chance to live, just before passing out. You don’t belong in this world anymore.”

“Why not? I have an uncle who cares about me, school that I need to finish… I do belong here.”

“You do now, but soon everyone will forget you. Even your own uncle. You’ll fade away, just like I did when I died.”

 

Alex couldn’t believe any of it. He will be forgotten just like that? All those words kept bugging his head for some time.

 

“Where do I belong then?”

“In the second part of this world, Realm of Spirites. There are many of us there. We do visit Earth sometimes, but nobody actually knows that we’re there.”

“You become invisible?”

“No, we become so uninteresting and boring that nobody cares about us. We’re just strangers to them.”

 

Alex was quiet. Nothing was making any sense.

 

“Will you go with me then?”

“It would appear so... When do we leave?”

“Just give a sec.” she said and pulled some sorta cell phone from her pocket.

 

She went into the kitchen while phoning. Alex only heard some words like “yes”, “in two days” and “take care”. Then she returned.

 

“We’re leaving two days… from now.” she said while opening the door.

“No, wait! Don’t go already. Why wouldn’t you… crash here for tonight? My uncle is on business trip and he won’t mind. After all… he’ll forget me soon, right?”

“Yeah, he will.”

“I’ll make you an air bag, where can you sleep.”

“Ok, I’ll have to make one important call to make. I’ll wait in kitchen.”

 

While Roxy was in kitchen, Alex looked for the air bag on the attic. It was pretty messy, but still usable. When he was filling it with the air, Spark came to look again.

 

“Something’s telling me, that you’re not just her pet.”

 

Spark only ruffled his hair.

 

“Hey, quit fixing my hair.”

 

Air bag was finally filled with air, cleaned and ready for someone to sleep in. Roxy still didn’t show of.

Alex quietly went down, eavesdropping. He knew that isn’t right, but he had some many questions. Roxy didn’t seem to have an important call. She was crying while talking.

 

“Yeah I’m ok… It’s just… I been here for four weeks… and I was alone… Spark doesn’t count… It’s not the same… I miss you… both of you… Think I gotta finish now or he’ll suspect something… Tell Nikki, I love her… Yeah, I love you too bro… Bye…”

 

Alex acted like he just came down.

 

“Oh… air bag is finished… you can come up. Hey, are you ok?”

“Yeah, just… I’m fine, don’t worry.”

 

Now he saw what she was wearing duo to the strong light. Grey shirt with long sleeves, jacket with short sleeves, green skirt and thin grey pants. She was also carrying silver backpack and another small bag for her weird cell phone.

Together they went into his room, ready to sleep.

Chapter Four: Sleep Over

 

Roxy have already went to the room, when Alex was about to turn off the tv. But just before he did, breaking news appeared again. This time it wasn’t about missing persons.

 

“People from Canada keep reporting about weird wolf which’s appearing in vicinity of smaller cities. It doesn’t seem to cause damage or hurting people, but it’s still terrifying for the ones who saw it. Now we’re moving to journalist, who’s in Canada right now, talking with a forest ranger who saw that wolf for about ten times.”

 

Alex sat down, to hear more.

 

“Yeah, I saw over ten times near the spot where I’m usually working. It didn’t seem dangerous or something. If you ask me, it’s just looking for something.” forest ranger replied

“But, why does this wolf look so weird?” journalist asked.

“Well, maybe because of its looks. It looks a way bigger than usual wolves and its fur is black. One day I even managed to get closer and it didn’t run away. Usually wolves do that, because they’re scared.”

“Did it attack you?”

“No, it just stared and after some time, it walked away. But when I look at it, it felt like I’m watching a human. Its eyes were very realistic.”

“That’s sure is an interesting news, but it’s time to move forward. Thank you for sharing your thoughts…” Alex turned off the tv, before he even finished.

 

Weird, since that accident, everything went crazy around here. He went to his room and saw Roxy who was combing her hair. She looked so beautiful with her hair loosed.

 

“Is something wrong?” she asked.

“No, it’s nothing. You… just… em…”

“What?”

“ You look cute… without your ponytails…”

 

Roxy blushed as Spark look weirdly on Alex.

 

“Well… thanks. Are you going to bed soon?”

“Maybe, I’ll read a bit. What about you and Spark?”

“Spark is already sleeping. Hawks usually sleep with one eye closed. As for me… I think I’m gonna fall asleep right now.”

 

And she fell asleep. Alex did bring out the book, but it didn’t actually read it. All that he could watch was Roxy. The way she slept, the way she braved… everything about her seemed so gentle and pure. He turned off the lights soon, trying to fall asleep.

His dreams didn’t seem interesting or something, but in the middle of them he woke up. Spark flinched as he nearly jumped from the bed.

 

“Sorry…” he apologized

“Man… I’m talking to a bird…”

 

While looking at it he tried to remember his dream. It was about him and Roxy running through the white corridor. Suddenly she said something and ran into different direction. He tried to follow her, but floor under him disappeared. Feeling of falling woke him up.

Alex couldn’t sleep back, so he decided to take a glass of water. That usually helped him sleep. With silent steps he went to the kitchen, trying not to wake up Roxy.

While filling glass with water something in the living room broke the silence. Alex looked around and completely freaked out when he saw something… or… somebody on the stairs.

 

It was a black wolf from the news. Fur black as night…sharp claws… and those brown eyes that look so realistic…

Alex took a few steps away as the wolf stared straight into his eyes. He felt weird, like somebody just took his clothes off. But then it stopped. Wolf only went to the opened window…

 

“Hey, what the heck are you doing in here?”

 

There was no reply, only a silent word.

 

“Dimi…”

 

As those words came out of wolf’s mouth, it disappeared in night.

 

“The hell was that about?!”

 

Next morning did come fast. As he woke up, air bag was empty. Roxy already woke up. He found her in the living room, doing something with her weird cell phone.

“Morning, sleep well?” she asked.

“Not exactly. Giant dog… I mean wolf distracted my beauty sleep.”

“What do you mean? Did you have a nightmare?”

“No, it came in the house… just like that… big black one with almost human’s eyes.”

 

Roxy was quiet for the moment.

 

“So, you met Leo…”

“Wait, who’s Leo?”

“A friend of mine… actually his name is Leon, but we all call him Leo and…”

“Hold on a sec! You mean to tell me that wolf is your friend?”

“Yeah, just like me, he’s a human… with certain powers…”

“What kind?”

 

She took a torch from the table and lighted room a bit.

 

“Don’t doesn’t seem special.”

“Oh really?”

 

He looked on torch in detail. It didn’t have any batteries in it.

 

“Wow!” he said excited.

“Maybe you know now why is Spark the name of my hawk. That’s my special ability.”

“Does it work any time?”

“No, we have to be together to make that magic trick.”

“Cool! Can you tell me more about this guy?”

“Leo? Do you really wanna know things about him?”

“Well, it would be nice to know something about the guy who broke into the house last night.”

 

Roxy started laughing with a laugh that made Alex laugh. For some time they were just laughing.

 

“Did anyone tell you that you have a cute laugh?” Alex said when he finally stopped laughing.

“No, just a few friends...”

“Will I hear that story about that Leo guy?”

“Yeah, after all you’re one of us.”

 

She drowned a deep breath.

 

“I met him about two years ago. Along with some other friends I befriended him, cuz he was such a nice guy. Plus he was a talented writer. But about four months ago he went back on earth, searching for…

“Wait… just before he left he said something… something about Dimi, but I don’t know what that is.”

“Dimi is his younger brother and he’s also the reason why he came back on Earth.”

“What do you mean?”

“There’s one secret group or more like an organization who’s chasing us for more than six years. They capture us and treats with us like test subjects. Four months ago they captured Dimi and since then none had ever seen him. Leo is looking for him using telepathy which is his special ability. It uses it for reading people’s minds.”

“That’s why I felt, like he took my clothes off. He was looking in me!” Alex thought.

“And I was also sent here to protect you from that group. I don’t want you to end up like Dimi.”

“But, do they know that I’m here?”

“Not yet, but I bet they soon will. That’s why we’re leaving tomorrow.”

“What should I suppose to do then?”

 

Suddenly Roxy’s cell phone started ringing.

Chapter Five: Men In Gray

 

Roxy quickly picked her cell phone. She talked very quickly and in the end she cursed a lot. When the call ended, she threw her backpack to Alex.

 

“Put your most important things in! We’re leaving in ten minutes!”

 

Alex was confused. Why do they have to leave all the sudden? But he trusted her and ran upstairs. He took his new sketchbook, some small matters and his favorite book. There was nothing else that he could take, so he went down the stairs. Roxy put her finger on lips, showing him to be quiet.

 

“Listen. I don’t know why, but those guys know that you’re here.” she whispered.

“You mean, right here in this house?” he whispered back.

“No, they know that you live somewhere in this city. They also know that you have red short hair.”

“What’s the plan then?”

“We’ll go out of that city. There’s an abandoned mansion, somewhere much away from here. We’re gonna go there and hide, until portal will appear. I just have one question for you.”

“And that is?”

“Do you trust me and are you up for this?”

“Absolutely.”

“Then wear this.” she said while putting a necklace around his neck. “Maybe it will bring luck.”

 

Alex looked at it. It was in a shape of the moon, made from wood.

 

“And one more thing. Put your hood on and try to act normal. I’m sure they’re everywhere.”

“What should I do if they appear? And how exactly do they look like?”

“Leo said that they’re wearing normal jeans and grey coats with sunglasses. If they appear, just hold my hand. You’ll become uninterested just like me.”

“Ok, but what about Spark? Speaking of which where she is?”

“In air, flying towards the mansion. It’s safer for her and me. Now, let’s go already.”

“Ok.”

 

Roxy took a backpack and along with Alex left the house. While going out, Alex felt sad and thought a lot about message he left on the table.

 

Thank you so much uncle, to spend all those years with you. I know you’ll forget me, but I won’t. You were like a dad for me and even if you remember about me, don’t be sad. I met a really good friend and I’m sure for where I’m going is better place.

His thinking was broken by a train station where they both just arrived. Roxy bought tickets and they both went on train.

 

“We’ll get out of the train in about half of hour. That’s the last station.” she whispered.

 

Train was full, but they still managed to find two free seats. When train left the station, Alex looked around the train. There weren’t any men, wearing jeans and grey coats or even sunglasses. By each station some of the people went out, leaving more space on train.

After twenty minutes, the only station left was the last one. Almost everyone got off the train. Only one woman stayed, reading a newspaper in the end of the railcar. Alex felt nervous about her, so he grabbed Roxy’s hand. Roxy looked deeply on woman with sunglasses who starred on them, like she seen ghost. Woman got up and went closer.

 

“Excuse me young man, but do you know where library is? I’ve been searching for it the whole morning.” she asked.

“Answer her.” Roxy whispered.

“It’s back in the city, right in front of the high school.”

“Well thank you… Alex!” woman said loudly, when she took off Alex’s hood.

 

Alex freaked out, when woman was about to hit him. Roxy downed him and took a hit instead. Woman only laughed and removed her hat to reveal her dirty blond hair.

 

“Nice to see you Roxy. It’s been a long time since we met.”

“Shut up you freak!” Roxy yelled while kicking her.

“Now let me remember that time, hm. I know! When we took that friend of yours! We’re really taking good care of him.” woman laughed while dodging.

“Alex, go to the exit and wait there until the train stops. I’ll make her busy.”

“Ok…” Alex said frightened.

 

Woman suddenly took metal stick from her pocked, pointing it at him. But Roxy reacted quickly, knocking it from the hand. Then she got closer, hitting woman in the chest and stomach.

 

“Have you heard about reserves, my dear?” woman said while bringing another metal stick.

 

With it, she punched Roxy away. Girl landed on two sits with a huge bruise on her chest.

 

“Fine, you’re leaving me with no other choice.” Roxy said and took her triangle necklace off.

 

For a moment she held necklace, but in the next one she held the bow. Bow was silver with a green snake around it.

 

“So, you finally summoned your Arrowblade. How nice.”

“I’ll show you nice!” Roxy yelled.

 

She ran towards her, holding her bow like a sword. Woman defended herself with two metal sticks, while Roxy was attacking her very quickly.

 

“Alex, when does the train stops?”

“In about three minutes.”

“You hear that? You have a time limit.”

“Shut up Lam!!!” Roxy yelled.

 

Woman with name Lam only smiled and looked straight in Alex’s eyes.

 

“Play time is over. I’ll show you the right fight!”

 

In that moment she put both of the metal sticks together, making one long one. When they both clashed together, unknown force hit both Alex and Roxy on the ground.

 

“Now which one should I defeat first? I know!” Lam said and hit Roxy so hard that she flew through the window off the train.

“No! Roxy!” Alex screamed.

“Don’t worry. I won’t be that hard with you.” Lam said sweetly.

“Get away from me!” Alex protested.

 

Lam strongly held his arm and took her cell phone.

 

“Sat! I got the kid…. There was another one, but I already took care of it… If he... just give me a sec.”

 

Alex still tried to get off her grip, but the woman was incredibly strong. She took off his jacket, looking on Roxy’s necklace.

 

“Yeah, there’s something, but it’s not a Trinity… Spirit Mate? I don’t think he haves one… wait there’s something…”

“Spark!”

 

Hawk broke the window, rushing directly in the woman. Lam screamed while Alex managed to get off of her grip. Spark look at him, like she asked: Are you ok?

 

“Yeah, I’m ok. Thank you so much.”

 

But there was something different about her. She was bigger and her eyes looked like… Roxy’s? In the same moment she started glowing. Alex covered his eyes from the glow and after it… Spark and Roxy were there!

 

“Roxy! You’re alright! But how did you get here?” he said while hugging her.

“I can infuse with Spark. When I fell from the train, she came in the right moment to merge with me. I nearly hit the ground.” she smiled.

“I’m not done with you two!” Lam shouted while standing up.

“Alex! Train will stop right now. You get out and follow Spark. She’ll lead you to the mansion where you’ll wait. I’ll buy you some time. Got it?”

“Got it! But what about you?”

“I can take care of myself, don’t worry.”

 

In the moment train stopped, Alex jumped from it along with Spark. Roxy summoned her Arrowblade again.

 

“Let’s dance.” Roxy smiled.

“No this time!” Lam said angrily.

 

Lam quickly ran right in front of her, grabbing her collar.

 

“How do you like that?” Lam laughed.

 

Roxy only smiled and snapped with her fingers. Her entire body was covered by electricity. Lam yelled as electricity burned her hand and released Roxy. Girl started attacking her and woman was unable to do anything. But she still laughed.

 

“Your friend won’t make it.”

“Just what do you mean by that?”

“Sat and his men are chasing him as we speak. I called some backup.”

 

Roxy was frightened. What if they’ll catch him? She quickly summoned ice arrow and shot Lam with it. Arrow stabbed her in arm and girl used that moment to get off the train, trying to find Alex.

 

Lam wasn’t kidding. Soon after Alex left the train, at least six men appear, chasing him. One of them stood out. He was a way taller than others, wearing black coat instead of grey. Spark managed to knock out two of them, but that didn’t helped much. Mansion that he was heading was deep in the forest. The moment they enter the forest, men took metal sticks, pointing them at him.

 

“Oh, great!” he said.

 

Metal sticks seemed to have ropes, cuz they were shooting him with the ropes. After some time passed, forest seemed like a giant spider net. Alex really needed to dodge them. Suddenly, one moment changed everything. Man in black coat took a gun and shoot Spark. Hawk sadly fell on floor, with wounded wing. Alex completely frightened, stood still. Spark was lying on ground with closed eyes and wing, covered by blood.

Suddenly ropes rushed into him, tying him on the tree. Soon after, two other ropes rushed, tying him even more. His body couldn’t move. He even breathed heavily.

Man in black coat came closer, looking straight in his eyes.

 

“We finally caught you Alex. How does it fell, to be all alone, unable to do anything?” man said laughably.

 

Two other men came closer, looking at his neck, eyes and arm.

 

“No Trinity or Change.” one man said.

“This bird isn’t his Spirit Mate either.” other one said.

“Great, we caught a Rookie. Bring the helicopter here and you there… give me the case.”

“Right away, Mr. Sat.”

 

Man named Sat, opened the case that was brought by one of his men. Case was awfully similar to scientist’s or doctor’s. It was full of disgusting liquids, scissors, sharp things and weird instruments. Sat took an injection, filled it with white liquid and slowly drew it near to Alex’s arm.

 

“Don’t worry, it will hurt little on begging, but then it will become worse.” man laughed.

 

Alex never liked injections and that one seemed ten times sharper than usual one. Pain appeared at begging and became worse by any minute. Boy felt like his body is burning and freezing at once. He also felt dizzy as he collapsed.

Soon after that helicopter arrived. Men already took off the ropes from him and cleaned the sights of battle. They threw unconsciousness Alex on helicopter and disappeared without a trace.

 

Roxy hardly walked through the forest. Her arm was bleeding like a worst horror movie. She was looking for Alex, when she saw a helicopter. It didn’t bring any bells that Alex was there. Her legs moved her deeper in the forest. Spark was there, still bleeding.

 

“What happened? Where’s Alex?”

“They… got him… I’m so sorry.” Spark said quietly.

“It’s alright… we’ll find him. It’s my fault… I should realize that Lam called backup.”

“What… are we… gonna do?”

“First we’ll rest… then we’ll save Alex.” Roxy said as she collapsed on the ground.

 

PS: Names of the bad guys - Lam and Sat are taken from words Lamia, which means vampire in latin and Satanas which means enemy of god in greek.

Chapter Six: Abby

 

Memory of the past seemed like a long lost dream. Even thought it already happened once, it seemed like something entirely new.

Girl with two long pony tails, black haired boy and smaller brown haired boy were running through the rainforest along with three hawks who were flying above their heads. They were chased by at least fifteen men, led by a woman named Lam. She laughed, while shooting at them with gun. Suddenly one of the hawks was shot in the leg. Smaller boy screamed from the pain, when his hawk fell on the floor unconscious. Black haired boy quickly placed him on the back, while his hawk changed into wolf and picked wounded hawk.

 

“Get Dimi out of here! I’ll buy you some time” girl said.

“Are you sure about that?” boy asked.

“Definitely!” girl shouted while running towards the men.

 

That was the last time, when she saw black haired boy, carrying his younger brother. After that she managed to beat up all the men. But that woman, Lam disappeared without the trace. Girl had no idea that Lam followed black haired boy in secret. Without a warning she attacked both of the boys and totally beat them off. But in the end she only took younger one along with his hawk. Lam’s evil laugh was the last thing that black haired boy saw, before passing out.

 

Roxy loudly woke up from her memory dream. She was in abandoned mansion, not in forest like she remembered. Spark was also there, sleeping with bandaged wing. Girl’s arm was bandaged too.

 

“Glad to see, that you’re ok.” boy’s voice said.

“Leo? What are you doing here? I thought you were looking for Dimi.”

“A simple thank you would be enough, you know. Taking a bullet from Spark wasn’t exactly easy.”

“Oh, sorry… I mean thank you for helping me. What were you doing here anyway?”

“I was about to leave this city, when I heard a gunshot. I followed it and found you, bleeding like torrent. And while bringing you here… I saw your memory dream….”

 

Girl was quiet. She knew that was Leo’s saddest memory. But she wanted to change subject.

 

“Where’s Cloud?” she asked.

“Outside, checking the area. He said that he senses men in gray. Are they the ones who shot you? And why?”

“I was here on mission… to protect new Rookie. But… I failed… they captured him.” she said sadly.

“I know how you feel… but you must know… accidents do happen.” he said while sighing.

 

Spark suddenly woke up. She happily went to girl who gave her a big hug. Soon after, black wolf came whispering something on Leo’s ear.

 

“By the way… did you check your cell phone by any chance?” he asked.

 

Roxy quickly looked in her little bag where she always kept her cell phone. Cell phone wasn’t there. When she was about to panic, Leo took it from his pocket with a smile.

 

“Hey! Give it back!” she said kinda angrily.

“It rang for like five times. I answered once and guess who called… Os.”

“Jeez! He’s gonna kill me!” she said and quickly typed phone number.

 

Person on the other side sure picked quick.

“What the hell happened to you? I called you for like five times and the only time it was picked up was by a guy who left four months ago!!! Plus he didn’t want to tell anything! What were you thinking!!!!” boy’s voice shouted from the phone.

“Os… I… didn’t know you called… and… sorry… it’s kinda hard to explain.”

 

Boy’s voice sighed.

 

“Sorry… I was just worried. Since that last call yesterday... and then when Nai sensed men in gray… I didn’t want you to get hurt.”

“I know how you feel… but the things didn’t turn out as we thought… “

“Please just talk… I’ll listen.”

“Men in grey knew who the next Rookie is. I tried to hide him until that portal appears. But Lam appeared on the train. I fought with her while Spark led him to the hiding place. But I didn’t realize Lam called backup. So, they captured him and shot Spark.”

“Holy Jesus!!! Are you ok?”

“I’m alright now, really. Soon after Leo appeared and treaded my and her wounds.”

“Can you give him on the phone?”

 

She passed it to Leo.

 

“Eh Leo? I’m really sorry for…”

“… yelling on me because of your worried mind? No problem.”

“Do you really mean it?”

“Yes, you worry head. Is there anything else?”

“Well… what are you planning for now?”

“I found out about new abby. Dimi might be there.”

“And how is Roxy planning to save Rookie?”

 

Roxy already had a plan.

 

“Just before we left I gave him Searcher. It was hidden in that necklace around his neck. Maybe I can found a signal… but I don’t have Quick Think Do set.”

“Don’t worry, I brought some reserves.” Leo said while showing on little bag, next to the door. “I broke into three different abbies. You can easily go in if you know how to meddle with cameras.”

“Then I’ll go… oh, what about you Leo?”

“I already found the signal of Rookie. But I was there about three weeks ago… Dimi wasn’t there. I’ll go to the new abby.”

“Ok, be very careful… both of you! And especially you Roxy! This is your second time mission!!!!”

“Cut the worries! I’ll be ok!”

“Well, I’ll go now. Cloud is very nervous you know!”

“Right! Bye Leo!”

 

In that moment Leo merged with Cloud. Black wolf was now bigger, darker and had Leo’s eyes.

 

“Farewell Roxy, good luck. You’ll need it.”

“You too Leo. Hope you’ll found your brother.”

“I will.” wolf said and ran from the house.

 

Roxy said good bye and took Quick Think Do set.

 

“Are you up for this Spark?”

“You bet I’m!”

 

 

 

After being injected by weird liquid, Alex lost consciousness. Now he was slowly waking up.

 

“Where the heck am I?” he asked himself.

 

He was lying on metal bed covered by sheets. Someone took his clothes off and replaced them by bright white shirt and pants. He also noticed steel rings on his both wrists and ankles. While looking around the room he almost completely freaked out when he saw another person on another bed.

 

“So, finally decided to wake up… that’s nice.” boy’s voice said.

 

Alex took a deeper look on the boy, sitting there. He seemed around thirteen years old with messy brown hair and brown eyes. Boy also wore the same clothes and steel rings.

 

“Who are you?” Alex asked.

“I’m Dimi. You?” boy answered.

“I’m Alex and… wait… you’re Leo’s brother!”

“You met Leo?”

“Sort of… he was a wolf when I saw him…”

“Then he’s still looking for me…” Dimi said sadly.

“What are we doing here anyway?”

“We were both captured to be test subjects. Men in gray are doing terrible experiments just to get some certain answers. I’ve been captured for about four months and… as you can see… they didn’t actually tread with me nice…”

 

Alex could now see what Dimi meant. Dimi’s face was full of bruisers as well as his both arms had several deep cuts and wounds from injects. But the worst part of his body, were his eyes. They seem so empty with only a bit brown color that proved he’s still alive.

 

“What did they do to you?” Alex said shocked.

“Experiments… if I struggle, they punish me.”

“What kind of people are they anyway?”

“I don’t know for sure…” Dimi said while sighing “I miss Whirl.”

“Who’s that?”

“My Spirit Mate… don’t you have it too?”

“You mean hawk or wolf or something? No…”

“Then you’re still Rookie… that’s not good…”

“Why?”

“Cuz you still didn’t receive your powers. Without them you’re weak... they will overpower you in second. Also without your spirit mate… you’ll...”

“Could you at least tell about that spirit thing? Is that bird or something?”

 

Boy took a deep breath.

 

“When you die your soul leaves your body. But ‘cept disappearing, it goes to the Realm of Spirits. There it waits until it’s reunited with its person, receives powers and gets a name by it. Mine was Whirl and I could use… ahhh… chu!”

 

Dimi sneezed so much that he totally trashed the whole room. Wind from his sneeze was incredibly strong!

 

“Jeez! Guess your powers are oversized sneezes.”

 

Boy started laughing as well as Alex did.

 

“You could say that but… I’m not that strong to run away. They took Whirl much away from me and I’m weak without him.”

 

Suddenly door opened. The man, who injected Alex, was there along with three men dressed in lab coats. Dimi started shaking when that man look at him laughably. But his eyes were soon pointed into Alex.

 

“Bring him into lab number six.” he said to the men, while pressing on button.

 

Alex’s rings suddenly stuck together like magnet. He was unable to move while two man carried him towards the lab.

 

 

 

PS: Word abby, which is the place where men in grey keep captured ones, is taken from the word Abaddon that means destruction in Greek.

Chapter Seven: Experiments

 

Two men dressed in lab coats kept carrying Alex through an endless white corridor. The third man was talking with Sat, while showing him some papers.

 

“Are you really sure you want to do that test on him? We still don’t know much about Rookies.” man asked.

“Then we’ll found out now. By the way, how’s the other sample doing?” Sat said.

“If you mean the other kid... well, I think you should let him rest for a week or two. His cuts and bruises still haven’t healed up and…”

“Then I’ll focus on this one.” he said while looking on Alex.

 

After some time passed, they finally came to the huge lab. Everything was there, from liquids and normal science stuff to weird instruments and sharp things. Alex was thrown on the metal table mobbed by several smaller ones with freaky instruments on it. Sat started pressing different buttons while other men went preparing things. Steel rings on Alex’s wrists and ankles separated, but only for a second. Next moment they were all stuck on the table, locking him completely. Sat pressed some more buttons and red light appeared from the machine. That light scanned him for more than ten times in different positions. Boy could feel slightly burning pain on the every part of his body.

Scanning was followed by much scarier looking machine. One of the men pulled bunch of cables and wires, while other put them on different parts of boy’s body.

Alex was freaked out when most of the cables were put on his chest, right on the part where his heart was. He also got a lot of cables on his forehead and arms. Just before Sat pressed the button that other man came.

 

“Why if he’s too weak for this? What if he dies?” man asked nervously.

 

Sat only laughed.

 

“Are you more stupid than you look? They can’t die, because they already died once! He’ll stay like that forever.”

 

When Sat said that sentence, Alex finally plucked up the courage to ask the thing he wanted to know the most.

 

“What are you gonna do with me? Why me and how did you found me?” Alex said almost yelling.

 

Sat went closer to him, touching his face and hair.

 

“Don’t tell me you still don’t know who you are. And isn’t it oblivious what are we gonna do with you? But I can answer on your third question. That man Jackie sure isn’t a pushover. He struggled a lot more than we thought he will.”

“What are you talking about? That doesn’t make any sense!”

“Oh, you don’t know Jackie? Well, that’s too bad, cuz he’s a reason why are you here. Jack Wale was driving van that killed you. It was kind of hard to find any data about you on police computer so, we went him ask personally.”

“What did you do with him?”

“If I’m not mistaken, he’s laying peacefully… at the bottom of the river!” Sat laughed.

“No…” Alex whispered.

 

Just what kinds of people are killing others just for data? They actually killed someone just to get him. More and more people get hurt because of him. His uncle who will forget him, man who wanted to protect him, but ended up killed and… Roxy. Alex could clearly remember how she cried while phoning, how she was protecting him from that woman, how she was getting hurt by her… Suddenly, picture of wounded Spark rushed into his head. Didn’t Dimi said that spirit mates and persons are connected? Which means Roxy could me seriously wounded as well!

His thinking was broken by one of the man who had tape in his hands.

 

“Should I put tape around his mouth? He may scream during the process.”

“Nah, just leave him. Plus I like when they scream.” Sat said with a smile.

Instead of tying his mouth, he put tape around his eyes. Everything was now even worse. He couldn’t even see what they are going to do with him.

Sat turn on number of buttons along with the other man, who was sadly looking at Alex. Cables started doing creepy sounds as electricity – like energy ran directly in the parts of boy’s body. Alex had the feeling like he’s swimming in fire. Pain was so terrible that he couldn’t even scream. Electricity would continue hurting him if one other man wouldn’t ran into lab. He was holding bunch of folders with a worried look on his face.

 

“Mr. Sat!” he yelled.

“What is it!? Can’t you see I’m busy with this one!?” Sat said angrily.

“It’s the other kid! He… his condition is bad!”

“Darn it! Finish the test on this one. I need to check condition on the other one!”

“Yes sir!”

 

Burning pain stop and tape was taken from Alex’s eyes. He could felt weakness deep inside him as steel rings locked him again. One of the men carried him back into the room where he was in the begging. But just before he left, he could clearly hear conversation between Sat and his men.

 

“What the hell is wrong with him?” Sat asked.

“It’s the connection between him and his Spirit Mate. They were both separated for too long.”

“So, you’re saying that we need to transport him to the abby where that animal is?!”

“If we won’t, his condition will turn from bad to worse.”

“But they can’t die…”

“… and we can’t do tests on weak ones!”

“Fine I get it! Everyone! Let’s…”

 

And that was all what he could hear. In the next moment he was back in that room. Man threw him on bed and locked the door. Alex slowly went to the other bed where Dimi was laying. That man wasn’t kidding. Dimi was heavily breathing and one of his several cuts opened, covering his shoulder by blood.

 

“Dimi? Can you hear me?” he asked barely consciousness boy.

“Yeah… it’s just… I need Whirl.”

“Why?”

“I and he are connected. Without him I feel emptiness, like someone takes your heart away.”

“Try to calm down. I heard that they’re going to transport you to Whirl.”

“No, that’s bad!” Dimi panicked.

“Why’s that? Aren’t you happy about it?”

“Every time I get transported, they inject me with a horrible thing!!! Because of it I’m unconscious for three days and then I finally wake up with a terrible fever!!! Why should I be happy about it?” Dimi yelled

“Sorry I… I didn’t know about it.”

 

Both boys were quiet for some time. Then Alex ripped his white shirt and covered Dimi’s wound. Bleeding soon stopped, which made him feel better.

 

“Thank you… Alex… I shouldn’t yell at you before… I’m so sorry.”

“Hey it’s ok. Speaking of which, I should be the one who’s apologizing. I can’t even imagine how you spent all those months here.”

“It was scary… but, now that you came… I don’t feel so alone.”

“Kinda good to hear that from you… since I haven’t had any friends.”

“You didn’t? How did you die by the way?”

“Well, I was riding my bike during the rainy night. Then suddenly a van crashed in me.”

“Ouch, that gotta hurt!”

“Actually no… I felt more like flying through the sky… that ended with a pain on the ground… How did you die?”

“I was at home when my older brother went in city with grant parents. We had a house on country, much away from the cities. That day I didn’t feel good so I waited home. Then suddenly I heard news on the radio: Tornado is approaching!!! I quickly ran to the shelter, but I didn’t know it was that fast. It caught me just before I entered the shelter.”

“Wait what about your brother? Didn’t he die along with you?”

“You mean Leo. No, he died three months later… from sadness and despair.”

“What happened?”

“After I died he couldn’t accept it. He wanted to bring me back at any cost. Nothing else was important for him. He even stopped going in school and started writing stories with sad endings. And after three months he met someone who gave him unknown drug. Drug supposed to bring him back in past, so he could save me from that tornado, but man was lying. It only killed him in process.”

“But at least you were together in the end.”

“Yeah, I even received my powers and my Spirit Mate, Whirl. I have powers of wind. That’s also why I messed up the room with only one sneeze.”

“Too bad you didn’t sneeze in those men.”

Dimi turned pale.

 

“Hey I was just kidding.”

“I… I did that once and it wasn’t exactly funny… because of it… they did this to me.”

 

He removed his collar a bit, to reveal completely red scar on his neck.

 

“Those men are sick!!! Why are they doing all this?!” Alex said angrily.

“Wish I would know… “

 

In that moment that man, Sat entered along with some others. He pressed button which locked Alex back on his bed. Dimi started shaking when Sat did the same thing to him. Both of his hands and ankles were stuck on the bed, prevent him from moving.

 

“It’s time to go kid.” Sat said laughably.

“No, I don’t want to!” Dimi protested.

 

Sat only smiled and removed Dimi’s shirt. Alex watched in horror, how crazy scientist took huge injection and stacked it right into the part of the chest where Dimi’s heart was. Dimi was crying from the pain until he became unconscious. Men took him from the bed and carried him out of the room.

When all left Alex felt loneliness again. Now they even took his only friend, leaving him alone completely. He had so many questions to ask, so many answers to seek.

But his thinking was soon broken by something in ventilation system. He carefully pointed his eyes into something that was coming from it. It was something long in shiny golden color… snake! Alex quickly jumped on the bed, trying to get away from it. But snake only raised its head and revealed shiny blue eyes. He did see those eyes once…

 

“Roxy?”

 

Snake smiled and started shining, until it turned into two lights. From one girl appeared and from the other much smaller golden snake appeared.

 

“Glide to see that you ok... but breaking into abby isn’t exactly easy you know.” she said.

Chapter Eight: Breaking Out

 

After seeing Roxy, Alex couldn’t help himself. He happily hugged her.

 

“Oh, Roxy. I’m so glad to see you!”

“Yeah me too. Did they hurt you or do any experiments on you?”

“They did use some kind of red light lasers and freaky burning cables.”

“Phew, then we can go out without problems.”

“You have a plan?”

“Course I have silly! But it’s not exactly easy, so you’ll need to listen to me every second. Understood?”

“Yeah…”

“Good then show me your arms for start.”

 

Alex carefully set his both arms. Roxy took weird pocked knife from the bag around her waist and cut the steel rings with a single cut. She did the same with the rings on his ankles.

 

“What the…” Alex said confusedly.

“Acid of the Sunrise flower, it can cut every piece of metal.”

“What do we do next?”

“I broke into security computer with a help of my powers. When I’ll snap with my fingers those door will open, but only for ten seconds. We’ll run to the broom’s room and there I’ll tell the rest of the plan. Got it?”

“Got it… but what about the cameras?”

“Already take care of it. Security guards will watch records from the past week.”

“Okay, I’m ready.”

 

As she snapped with her fingers, door opened high and wide. Spark took a form of hawk and flew above their heads. Roxy held Alex’s hand tight and lead him to the room with a sign of broom on it. Room wasn’t exactly big duo to the number of brooms, mops and buckets. But either way Alex was happy to be finally out.

 

“Now listen. I disabled two of the scientists who kinda look like us. Here I had their clothes and business cards. Now put those on while I tell the rest.”

 

Alex took off white clothes and replaced by blue jeans, black shirt and lab coat. Clothes were a little too big duo to the person who actually wore them.

 

“With those business cards we will be able to enter the room that is usually empty. Portal will be opened there, so we will be able to escape. Any questions?”

“Yeah, but it has nothing to do with it…”

“What it is?”

“I’ve been just wondering… into how many animals can Spark change?”

“Three, hawk, snake and wolf. All those animals represent three different parts of earth, sky, sea and land.”

“Oh, right.”

“Could you now turn away?”

“Why’s that?”

“For goodness sakes! I need to change too, you know! Normally boys don’t watch girls when they’re changing clothes.”

“Guess I’m not normal.” Alex said with a smile.

“Shut up!” Roxy said while slapping his face.

 

Alex only smiled again and turned away. He didn’t peep like he wanted at first, but patiently waited until she was done. Roxy now wore grey jeans, white shirt and lab coat. She also loosed her hair and put glasses on.

 

“Are we going out already?” Alex asked.

“Not yet.” Roxy said while taking spray like thing from her belt bag.

 

With it she sprayed Alex’s hair. After minute of spraying, hair turned completely black.

 

“What the…”

“The guy who looks like you has black hair, plus you will be harder to be recognized. Don’t worry it will stay on only for one day. Then you’ll be able to wash them out.”

 

Suddenly her cell phone started ringing. She quickly picked it up.

 

“What is it?”

“We have problem…” boy’s voice said.

“What kind?”

“We’ll need to change location. At least twenty men in gray are in.”

“Blast! What are we gonna do now?”

“I found another room, but it’s pretty far away. Will you be able to get there?”

“How much time do we have?”

“About an hour or two… maybe less.”

“Then we have to move on. Stay on line. Perhaps I’ll need your help.”

“Good luck then.”

 

Roxy started pressing buttons different buttons on cell phone, while weird sounds were coming from it.

 

“No offense, but what are you doing?”

“I’m meddling with security cameras in the part of the building that we are headed to. Most of them are easy to meddle but… oh no… four cameras have voice password. We’ll have to use upper ventilation system.”

 

Suddenly Spark started panicking around the room. Roxy quickly opened her backpack when Spark took a form of a snake and quickly hid in it. She also held Alex’s hand, protecting him with uninteresting effect. Younger man entered the room, taking one of the brooms. He did saw a boy and a girl in it, but they weren’t important for him duo to the uninteresting effect.

Soon after man left, girl lead boy through endless corridors and doors until she stopped and pushed him into another broom room.

 

“Here’s the corridor with cameras that aren’t disabled. After half an hour I’ll make a short blackout, so we will be able to enter the upper ventilation system. Got it?”

“Got it!” Alex nodded.

 

Stuck in the room full of brooms and mops, made him kinda weird. The last time when he was like that, was back in school, when he was hiding from the school bully. But this time it was different. Now there was a girl hiding alongside him.

 

“Eh, Roxy? Can I ask you something?”

“Sure, what is it?”

“Why are helping me, when I’m just a stranger to you?”

“You’re not a stranger. You’re one of us and we have to help each other. We’re like family.”

“Oh, I see… could you at least tell me more about yourself?”

“What do you mean?”

“You know… things like… how you died and all that.”

“Do you really want to know? It’s not exactly nice, you know.”

“I won’t force you if you don’t want to tell.”

“I died in a plane crash… somewhere in Atlantic ocean. When I finally realized that I got the second chance I was already in a Realm of Spirits where I met Spark and got my powers.”

“Wow, did it hurt?”

“Not quite… luckily I fell asleep on the plane and kinda didn’t realize that I died… jeez!”

 

Bandage from her arm unrolled, revealing her gunshot wound. Alex realized that was from the bullet that Spark got on the day he was captured. Like everyone was saying from the beginning, Spirit Mates are connected with their original selves, feeling every thought and pain the get.

 

“Let me help you.” Alex said while gently wrapping bandage around her wound.

 

In the end he managed to stop wound from bleeding. Roxy smiled and hugged him.

 

“See? One more reason why I’m helping you! The first moment I saw you, I knew that I can trust you. I could feel warmth and friendship coming straight from your heart.”

“You really mean it? Cuz I felt the same thing before I even met you. Look!” Alex said while taking his sketchbook from her backpack.

 

He showed on a foggy sketch with a girl with two pony tails. Roxy surprisingly drew a breath.

 

“That’s… this is me! But how did you know how I look like? You even drew my outfit!”

“Beats me… I drew this at the same day I died. Like… I knew you’ll come.”

“Maybe you already unlocked some of your powers… or it was just instinct.”

 

While Roxy talked Axel looked straight into her bright blue eyes. Alex gently removed glasses from her face and moved locks of hair from her face. Soon after her bright blue eyes met his shiny green eyes, unexpected moment happened:

 

Alex gently kissed her on her lips. Roxy was a bit surprised, but she didn’t move away. His kissed calm her down, giving her a feeling of safety. Boy continued kissing her as she put her hands around his neck and chest, giving him another hug.

 

For some time they were just kissing. And they would probably continue if Spark wouldn’t tug Roxy’s jeans.

 

“Only twenty minutes left. We better prepare ourselves.” snake whispered.

“Right… when the blackout will take up, we’ll climb to the ceiling where ventilation system is. There may be some traps and security stuff, so just follow my lead and be prepared for anything.”

“Okay, but… jeez how could I forgot!” Alex said when he suddenly remembered about important thing. “What about Dimi!”

“Dimi? What do you mean?”

“There was another boy locked alongside me. He… he said that his name is Dimi!”

 

Roxy turned pale as Spark changed into hawk flying around the room.

 

“You mean to tell me… that Dimi is here?”

“Yeah, he was in the same room just before you came.”

“Jeez… now I have to change the plan… again.”

 

Girl threw backpack to Alex along with her belt bag. She quickly took the cell phone, typing the number.

 

“Os, we’ll need to change plan… again!”

“What it is this time?”

“Alex found out that Dimi is held in this same abby as we’re now.”

“You’re kidding!”

“No, I’m completely serious. I’m going to find him and you lead Alex to the room where that portal will appear.”

“You mean through the ventilation system? Through all those traps?”

“Yeah and don’t worry, I gave him Quick Think Do Set, so that won’t be a problem for you and him.”

“Alright… just be careful.”

“I will. Now I’m passing you to Alex.” she said while passing the cell phone to the red haired boy. “Alex listen… I know that you’re terrified about the whole thing, but now you need to be brave. Os, boy on the phone will lead you through the traps. When you’ll arrive at room you’ll see portal, but don’t enter it until I return with Dimi. The moment you’ll step in it will disappear.”

“What about you?”

“Don’t worry I can take care of myself. You should be the one who’s careful.”

“Right, hurry then.”

 

Roxy kissed him one more time and fused with Spark, turning into a beautiful golden wolf. Alex watched her until she disappeared in endless white corridors.

 

 

 

PS: Picture was drawn by me about three monhts ago, when I was still colectting ideas for the story. I knew I should put some kissing scenes... but I kinda didn't know where.
