Godot 513 Posted December 2, 2012 I was thinking of responding to the last comment, but this pretty much hit the nail on the head. Besides, when I've seen people 'modernizing' churches or stuff like that, it usually just ends up causing problems. but if the rules and expectations of religion don't change, then we end up with a bunch of things that don't apply anymore and that can set back and possibly damage usmay i ask what you mean by modernizing churches? like in what ways are they modernized

Like, I've heard of "Christian" churches that are now trying to say that Jesus isn't the only way to heaven, which is false biblically, and some aren't trying to promote a Godly lifestyle. Stuff like that.
Amon 4,279 Posted December 2, 2012 Part of the point of religion is to maintain tradition. As far as I can tell, it's not supposed to change. It's the people who should. The primary purpose of Religion is to provide explanations for things that are difficult for us humans to comprehend and to provide spiritual comfort. Many religions are not centered on upholding tradition. 2 Koko and Godot reacted to this

hatok 6,413 Posted December 3, 2012 People must sure love Penis if they name they're kids Dick.Really why would you name your kid Dick? The name dick predates the slang term by quite some time though and it was slang for police officer before that did you know what when you call someone a dick, you're actually calling them a fun-ruining-cop, not a genital? Kaiso 2,764 Posted December 4, 2012 People must sure love Penis if they name they're kids Dick. Really why would you name your kid Dick? Another question you should consider asking is why would people name their children Richard? Although I do love the name Richard... Hatok pretty much summed it up but Dick can also be the nickname for a guy named Richard. C:

Think Pink 1,967 Posted December 5, 2012 I don't think it's fair when people think they can control you just because you're friends. Like, when they realize you have the power to do something (like get them promoted or given ribbons they don't deserve) for them, and they try to convince you that they deserve it, when in reality they haven't earned it. Friendship is really important, but it shouldn't get in the way of someone's job. One of my friends won't stop pestering me to give him a meritorious achievement ribbon, but he just hasn't earned it. He's trying to guilt trip me into it, not realizing that I really can't just give him things because of my job. 3 Kaiso, Weiss and dusk reacted to this
Dracozombie 4,554 Posted December 7, 2012 A part of me regrets having such high standards for fanfiction, because I can't enjoy it like I used to anymore. I've been mulling over it for a while now, since I started to take my writing seriously (and not just for fanfiction), and it's recently been brought to conscious thought after I went to the KH section on fanfiction.net and ignored everything except for the tiny handful of fics there I'm following--and even then, I'm only following them because they're interesting, not because of notable writing quality. I miss the days when I didn't know any better and I was able to enjoy all but the shittiest fics, but I'd also never want to go back to those days of ignorance since what little pride I have would never allow it. It's pretty much a no-win situation, except regarding the blessed few fics that are actually good. Or it's just because the KH section's standards for quality is too low. But I've seen worse sections on fanfiction.net. *shudder* 2 Oishii and wayfinder823 reacted to this

Kaiso 2,764 Posted December 8, 2012 Just because you are rooming with someone does not mean you have to spend your entire day with those people. They may be your close friends, or they may just be acquaintances, but you can still grow tired of them either way. You do not have to go out with them when they go out, you do not have to go eat lunch/dinner/whatever with them, you do not have to watch TV when they watch TV, and you do not have to drive them around everywhere because they are your roommates. Everyone is an individual, and sometimes as individuals we need time away from each other (and that doesn't include breaks where everyone goes home). Just because someone goes out to eat or does something and leaves their roommates behind does not make them a bad person. There are other friends out there than just your roommates. If they ever make you feel down because you don't always include them then punch them in the face because they are not being fair roommates. Also, they are pretty horrible people if they try to play the victim in any of these situations. 3 Weiss, axele and Shana09 reacted to this

Ruran 481 Posted December 8, 2012 Aqua's an over rated and boring character who's writing isn't that great. Her characterization is bipolar bouncing from believing in Terra to panicking over him falling to darkness for no reason then believing in him with all her heart again to busting his balls. The only character development she has is going from disliking the darkness to disliking it even more by the end thus making her an even more ignorant person, her main characteristics are holier than thou, self righteous bitch and overbearing "mom", almost all her other attributes are the same as every protagonist only not as well executed, she had the most unengaging and unnecessary of the scenarios and her whole story and character ark could have been wrapped up in a few cutscenes, she's supposed to be the smartest and most responsible one in the group but only shows that she's just as naive and irresponsible as Terra and Ven and not really ready to be a master, she fails at almost everything she set out to do after her initial goal of becoming master, and her sacrifice was a Diabolus Ex Machina so the universe could be thrown into chaos in the hopes that Terra might be okay despite the fact he utterly failed at resisting the darkness and MX and she put the safety of billions at risk by essentially saving MX just so she could save Terra. I have no sympathy for her and can't for the life of me figure out why she's the series darling. Even Nomura was surprised that so many people like her. Oh, and her design looks like a discount costume store threw up an her.

Oh, and her design looks like a discount costume store threw up an her. H'oh boy, here we go. Before I say anything, yes, sometimes her character was inconsistent. Even her fans can call her out as a bitch when she called Terra out after the Trinity Armor fight--also keep in mind Ventus called her out for it as well. Her "unengaging and unnecessary" scenario is essentially her wrapping up the storylines for the Disney films. She helped out the princes so they could help our their respective princesses (okay, so in the unnamed Dwarf Woodlands one, it was pretty much Aqua telling him "Hey, Snow White's asleep over there--attend to her, she's your ho'!"). She's the one who teamed up with Prince Phillip to take down Maleficent, which, even though she failed, is not a problem of her character but one of the game's nature as a prequel because you know she's gonna come back. She took down Hades and the Ice Titan after Ventus and Terra were busy running around/playing into Hades's schemes. She got Stitch out of trouble by helping to take down Gantu and asking the Grand Councilwoman to spare Stitch's life. She took down both Ventus-Vanitas and Terranort, foiling Xehanort's X-blade plan (but this being Xehanort, it wouldn't stop him forever). She may not be the deepest character, but that wasn't the appeal. People like her because out of Terra and Ventus, who were busy killing off Unversed or whatnot, Aqua actually plays the role as the hero, wrapping up the stories of most of the Disney worlds and BBS's story itself. There's a reason I've seen her compared to a female Sora. She had no idea what rescuing Terra would have done for the rest of the world. As far as she saw, Terra was fighting from the inside--and winning, which was the only reason a calculating guy like Xehanort would ever resort to such a drastic measure like stabbing himself with his keyblade. To her, saving Terra was a valid decision, which wound up becoming tragic because she got screwed over for her sacrifice. She wanted to protect her friends, and she paid for it. So there, that's my defense. Take it or leave it. 5 _The Door To Light_, FireRubies1, Kishira and 2 others reacted to this
