The Unpopular Opinions Thread

Recommended Posts

Some cultures encourage this.

Indians, for example, have a Caste System that allows only people of the same Caste to marry

For example, a Brahmin cannot marry a Kshatriya, and vice versa.

You must understand that people from different countries or cultures grew up under different circumstances, making their views foreign to ours.

It seems wrong to do such a thing in, say, The United States or Canada because we aren't used to it, but others might want to because it is part of their religion or it's simply traditional... That doesn't necessarily make it wrong :)

I'm not bashing you or anything - I'm just pointing it out.

The Caste system isn't there anymore, well for Northern Indians like Punjabi people.

They still have arrange marriage though, but it isn't mandatory. You don't need arrange marriage there but you got to get married and since the indian parents their make their sons/daughters have arrange marriages.

They've tried to rid the Caste system in all of India, but it didn't work. It still exists, and there are still arranged marriages in most of it.

Even if it was outlawed, chances are people would be/are still doing it.

In fact, if you live somewhere where there are abundances of Indian or Indo-American citizens (such as California, for example), there are sometimes ads in the paper asking other Indians to marry their son/daughter. Enclosed in said ads are their Caste to make sure they are marrying one of their own class.

They used to do arranged marriages in other Asian countries such as China as well, but in contrast, China does not follow such traditions that often anymore.

Even England used to do it, but again, English people no longer arrange marriages. Times have changed, after all.

My point was, though; depending on the environment one was raised in, the way they are taught affects their upbringing.

Most Americans embrace gay marriage. But in many Middle-Eastern countries, gay marriage is an abomination, and some homosexuals are even executed.

Americans (and Canadians or other Western countries) think pedophilia is wrong, and someone can be jailed for owning child pornography. In places like Japan, however, things like "lolicon" and "shotacon" are taken much less seriously.

Whoa... Sorry for that wall of text... Again. Lol.

It's alright xD

I know about the ads for arrange marriage.

There was a site called "Punjabi Matrimony" and someone from my dad's family side is getting an arrange marriage and he is getting applied into that site.

I still said people still do it though, mainly talking about Punjab.

I agree with what you are saying 100%.

I know. It's just that some people don't want to get married to the guy/girl they're set up to marry and they end up being miserable cause they don't love each other(happened to my friend)

I hate people who complain all the time over Facebook and the internet about how sucky their life is because of breaking up with their boyfriend/girlfriend and then two days later, they're professing their love to someone else, and then a few days later, the cycle starts anew. Seriously, if you weren't bitching half the time, you'd actually have a decent relationship.

People like that are just searching out for some attention.

They feel insecure when they don't get all the attention they think they deserve and do that kind of stuff on Facebook.

In other words, the're called Drama Queens.

I hate when people misgender others and don't use their preferred pronouns purposely.

It's one thing to slip up and another to not care.

So firetruck you to everyone who doesn't know how to respect someone's gender identity.

You don't know how shitty that feels.

I cant imagine living my whole life feeling like that so i empathize completely and try to respect your preferred pronouns.

I don't understand why people can't anymore push dislike button in youtube without getting hated to oblivion. If I think that some video wasn't entertaining then I push that, to give my opnion.

Sometimes, people get hate for pressing dislike because they comment saying the subject is stupid or something, knowing that was the subject when they clicked to watch the video. In short, the dislike something cause they just feel like it.

Andrew Garfield is not a good Peter Parker. I'm not hating on him, I simply think he is too hot to be Peter. Peter is supposed to be a nerd, he's not supposed to be good looking.

I love you so much. Even tho he played the role right on. Peter should be a nerd.

I really don't understand why there is TV shows, magazines + other stuff which are "only for boys/girls". Surely I can understand that there is somethings that just intrest other gender more, but still.

It is just plain annoying when people complain about me reading/watching something which is "girls" stuff.

and how is romance just girls thing, lol

Children's beauty pageants should be banned forever. i mean, these moms are basically living through their kid's life and teaching them the physical beauty and winning is the only thing that matters in life. not only that but they force these poor, innocent girls to put on big dresses, heavy makeup, puff-up hair, and even spray tan them!! oh and these pageants are really expensive to attend to and so are the dresses, trainers, etc. costing them around $5,000! Seriously, this is just ridiculous!!!!

Except lol, SOME GIRLS ENJOY PAGEANTS

I think it's a good thing to build self confidence for girls who enjoy doing them.

I don't like when mom's force them to, but there are some girls who legit enjoy them and it would be unfair to keep them from enjoying it. Assuming all girls in pageants are forced to be in them is a silly thing. My little cousin has always wanted to be in one and has never had the chance.

Also, some people ENJOY spending time and money on big dresses and make up and puffed up hair. You just described my favourite fashion actually: Lolita

Some people enjoy that sort of glamour and there's nothing wrong with it.

-I hate it when people call other people stupid. That's a broad and rather arrogant assumption to make, especially when you don't know them.

-I hate how some people have absoutely no sense of tact. It's all well and good to have an opinion, but you don't need to act like an ass while saying it and bring other people down. This goes triple when you have internet anonymity.

-I hate how I'm sometimes guilty of the above two.

-I don't mind Kingdom Hearts's confusing plot.

-I hate how most people only like Aqua because she can fight.

-I don't think Kairi should burn in hell for being useless.

-I don't think Xion is a Mary Sue. Still doesn't mean I like her.

-I don't like any Kingdom Hearts pairings, I only tolerate them for the sake of reading about one or more characters I like. I think all KH pairings are boring, shallow, creepy, can be taken as just good friendship, crack pairings that got way too popular for their own good, or some combination of the above. And no, I can't just ignore them. Shipping is everywhere.

-I love Alternate Universe fanfiction. I like seeing what you can do with the characters and the setting in different circumstances.

-I hate how most AU fanfiction (especially KH fanfiction) has nothing to do with the source material beyond the characters. Seriously, guys, you can write a high school AU without getting rid of Disney and magic.

-I hate how most fanfiction focuses on romance. There are other things to write about.

-I like Donald and Goofy, though maybe not as in-game battle partners.

-I enjoy the Disney part of Kingdom Hearts. Some more than others, granted.

-I hate how Bronies get such a poor reputation.

-I hate that I'm a Brony.

-I hate how sex-obsessed our society is. You see sex and romance everywhere, especially in the media, and you can't ignore it.

-I don't think you need a boyfriend/girlfriend to feel fulfilled and adequate.

-I don't care what your gender or orientation is--get a room.

-I hate my current avatar, but I'm working on drawing a better one.

-I like ghosts more than vampires. I never thought vampires were cool, and this was before Twilight.

-Scary things are awesome. Go horror movies! :D

They often go hand-in-hand, though. And society does place a high value on sex and romance, especially the media. I should've been clear on that.

there's nothing wrong w/ sex and romance imo

however PDA gets slightly annoying in the sense that i don't want school hallways blocked by couples making out :u
