Kittenz 4,281 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) People want the zombie apocalypse but it's already here in the form of "Normal people" In other words, every reality tv show and advert makes me want to punch something or vomit(Theoretically, of course) "They're all zombies, delusional and selfish and festering, destroying this world" I think Sure, maybe I'm nuts, but normal people bore me, it's like they can't think for themselves and just believe all the propaganda on Tv. Think Pink 1,967 Posted January 17, 2014 ObamaCare did fail so I think this is almost a fact. in addition I hate the phrase obamacare it's the Affordable Care Act, and obamacare was used by Republicans to mock Obama. It's used so much that we all say it even though it's annoying and pretty inaccurate. He tried to reclaim it and use it as a positive thing, but calling it obamacare instead of the ACA just sounds really awful and self-centered. He should have stuck to calling it the ACA. Please don't say it's because she used the word mainstream... I mean idk to me it sounded like you were almost talking down to her for expressing her completely acceptable and somewhat agreeable opinion on society. I'm not saying you were I just wanna clear that up to see what you meant. Since it's been brought up, my opinion is that hipsters no longer exist. Now it's just a label given to people who listen to underground music and shop at UO. And that in itself has become mainstream, which is against what this whole hipster mentality is about. A true hipster for lack of a better word doesn't care. They do what they want, wear what they want, listen to the want, act and speak how they want. What they do just so happens to be not very popular. People who try to be hipster are not. They think that by wearing high waisted galaxy printed shorts and a floral button up shirt with some old looking shoes that they're so unique and "don't conform to the oppressive nature of mainstream clothing". Lol no you just have a horrible taste in fashion. There is no set look to it at all! You cannot classify a true hipster, and it's a shame that these people are shoved into the same category as those obnoxious posers. All it is now is a trend. 1 RoxSox reacted to this

Lalalablah 1,538 Posted January 17, 2014 Being a misanthrope doesn't make you sound any more intelligent or profound. It doesn't make her any less intelligent or profound either. Your perception is your reality. What you are exposed to defines how you see the world. If she does truly dislike society--which, although I can see why I don't necessarily agree--it could be because she has grown up in a crappy environment with nasty-personality people around her. If she's always watching the news or reading pop-culture magazines, she sees how awful the media can be. Then again I shouldn't speak for her, I will let her say something before I go back to standing behind her opinion.

Dave 5,715 Posted January 18, 2014 I find that the "cool, calculating" villain archtype has become overdone. This isn't to say that villains shouldn't be smart or capable, but they should be capable of showing some personality, and giving a more memorable performance. I think the problem is that people have interpreted showing emotion or daring to speak in something other than monotone is a sign of weakness, but if anything, it makes the character more interesting and adds more elements to their interactions with other characters. What made most of the famous Disney villains famous (Hades, Maleficent, Captain Hook, Jafar, Ursula, etc) is because they let their egos shine through and offer a more colorful and energetic role. When people write their villains to be flat and unshakeable, they are just that: flat, and unshakeable. Conflict breeds interest, and if a character is capable of having something rustle their feathers, or something that can make them angry, it just makes them more entertaining to watch. 3 RoxSox, Shana09 and Paranoia reacted to this

Amon 4,279 Posted January 21, 2014 I like the Colbert Report more than the Daily Show. Stephen Colbert is a hilarious guy with an awesome character. Jon Stewart is just a liberal douche. Dracozombie 4,554 Posted January 21, 2014 For some reason, I hate the adjective "cute" when applied to clothing. Puppies are cute. Birdies are cute. A person can be cute, I suppose. A pair of shoes are not. Sure, they can be "pretty" or "nice" or "fashionable," but why "cute" of all descriptors? It's even weirder when grown women use the term... I feel like it's only passable on a kid or a teen. Maybe it's because I don't think older people should want to look "cute." "Pretty," "classy," or "feminine" or what have you is fine. "Cute" sounds like you're trying to be a teen again. 1 DaxtotheMax reacted to this
