Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) Well, as annoying as I find it when grammar is tossed out the window, everyone's gotta start from somewhere, right? Instead of writing them off as a failure, it's best to tell them where to improve so that their writing can be more interesting, and get better. As a beginning writer myself, I've found that constructive criticism has helped out a lot with some of my stories. Also, I doubt that anything on here is even a quarter as bad as Half Life: Full Life Consequences was. ( hopes this doesn't concern HIS fan fics. ) ON TOPIC: I get pissed when some one see's me reading Twilight and tells me that, as a guy, I shouldn't like/read it, unless I'm gay. WTF??? STFU, you moron's! A. Me likie de boobies too much to be gay ( no offense what so ever meant to actual gay people, I might add ) and B. it's a book: you don't like me reading it, DON'T FRIGGING LOOK! :x Edited October 20, 2013 by TheTimidLight
Shulk 8,623 Posted October 20, 2013 ( hopes this doesn't concern HIS fan fics. ) Who's? ._. Also, something else. I kinda hate the idea that boys can't choose girl characters, or that it's not socially accepted anyway. I mean, you never see a girl get made fun of or questioned for choosing the boy character... People should just be able to play as whoever they want, as long as they're happy, it's fine. Especially in games where different characters have different playstyles. I'm best with Aqua in Birth by Sleep, so I really can't play to my best ability if I use one of the other two. 1 EpiXauce reacted to this

Ghost 1,857 Posted October 22, 2013 I must say, the majority of the stories on this site's writing section are...not that great, to put it nicely. I mean, I'm not a novel-writier myself, but I at least studied what makes a good story and know how to properly form sentences. What annoys me the most is people placing in music from the actual Kingdom Hearts games! That's pretty much saying, "I don't know how to provoke emotions in writing, so maybe this music I didn't make can!" Unless you do it very well (Lu Xun, I believe, does it well), don't do it at all! I'm not saying people aren't allowed to write, but at the very least learn some grammar. And if you are doing fanfiction, make sure you keep the characters in character! And don't do boring stuff! Develop the characters we love and know even more than we thought possible or something. Just don't follow the crap that's currently on this site! I'm not the best in the world, but (and I'm probably gonna sound dickish), but my KH3 story I have hear is better than what I have seen so far. Mystics Apprentice, Lu Xun, and Think Pink are one of the best that most likely exceed me.I don't write or read stories for the section on here so I have no idea what people are writing, but people are going to suck at first. We just gotta face it. If people ask for constructive criticism on their stories, give it to them - that's one way people learn and grow and improve. Of course don't just barge in a thread and tell people what to do without having been asked for it. That, yeah, is rude, but if asked for constructive criticism, you could be helping out a person a lot by giving it. You're obviously not obligated to help everyone out, I mean hell none of us are (I'm sure you've seen some stuff on Fanfiction.net) but look, you have to remember that a lot of people are growing and learning, through trial and error and you can't expect a Best Seller on a website, with fanfictions, of all things. Yes there are a lot of amazing stories and there are also some not, but take the ages into account. Actually, scratch that, not even that; people are just different anyways, and for some people writing comes more naturally to some than others. Don't call it "crap", most of us were/are there at some point. I'd post my old, crappy, Ouran and Naruto crossovers to proove that if I hadn't figuatively burned them already, lmao.I do not think that English dubs should exist.I literally want to write a book compiled of all of your opinions in this thread 3 Jilly Shears, Hei and mosokisa reacted to this

Varnish 319 Posted October 23, 2013 Nah, I just meant it as a joke. I find them funny is all. It'd sure be a book to cheer me up when I'm sad, haha. The saga must continue. Very well. As I was saying, I do not think that English dubs should exist. Not only can it come off as extremely awkward when lip-sync is clearly out-of-place, but it encourages the misconception that Anime is for children. Dubbing Anime is what 4Kids Entertainment did, and it made plenty of other undesired alterations in the process, so most Anime enthusiasts dislike the company for what it did. Most Anime enthusiasts would prefer to watch Anime in its original Japanese form, but with subtitles, so this adds to the fact that dubbing Anime is not a necessity I think that it would be much better if non-televised un-dubbed Anime with English subtitles would be the closest that dubs would come to existing. Hei 3,233 Posted October 23, 2013 I do not think that English dubs should exist. I think it's a good thing they exist. You don't get distracted by reading the subtitles, you can just watch it and enjoy the animation. Plus, I have seen quite a few dubs that are on par/possibly even better than the original Japanese dub. (Gurren Lagann, Darker Than Black, Redline, Cowboy Bebop, ect.) 5 Shulk, Godot, RoxSox and 2 others reacted to this

Varnish 319 Posted October 24, 2013 Rats, cats and rabbits are better than dogs. Even if they are not as intelligent, at least they care enough to regularly clean themselves. They are also not as noisy.

Except I'll admit I'm pretty biased towards certain breeds of dogs because they have either bitten or barked at me in the past. I love most dogs though, but I'm still wary around larger ones, and the ones with a "reputation" for being more aggressive. 1 Varnish reacted to this
Dracozombie 4,554 Posted October 25, 2013 I tune out discussions/fights over consoles. To me, they're boring as hell because damn it, I just wanna play a game and if [X console] supports it, good enough for me. I don't even know what they're talking about half the time. I look at discussions about specs and I'm all uhhhh wat. 4 Jilly Shears, Ghost, Col.Random and 1 other reacted to this
Shulk 8,623 Posted October 25, 2013 I do not think that English dubs should exist. Let's just ignore everyone who loves dubs, such as myself... I honestly prefer dubs over subs in every anime I watch. Not only do I not have to switch between reading and watching at the same time, but the lines make more sense to me, and I enjoy the voices more when I know what they're actually saying. Sure, 4Kids made some crappy dubs, but those shouldn't define such a wide spectrum. For example, Disney XD's censors for the Naruto Shippuden dub sucked, but the unedited version is probably my favorite dub of all time. I think people should just be more open-minded to dubs. Hey I never even said "weeaboo" once in there.
Saber Lily 1,543 Posted October 26, 2013 I think english dub have ers should stop hating on all dubs for one company's screwups. But how can we dub lovers compete with Japanese Dub hardone fanboys? *sarcasm* Not all dubs suck. Code Geass and most Gundam Dubs are fantastic, as well as Strike Witches and Aria the Scarlet Ammo. Personally, I can't stand trying to read the words and keep up with the action. I tried watching some Space Battleship Yamato, but after the first episode I coulcouldn't. Im not really wired to listen to words I don't understand and forced to read what I can. I'm wired to read books out of necessity. I'm not wired to read my TV just to know what's going on, commercials nonwithstanding.

Dubs should not exist because not only are they not the original show, they bring problems such as misplaced lip-sync and cultural misunderstanding. Regular audiences will not be able to understand some components of dubs. They ARE the original if you watch the uncut ones, that's what I JUST said. I'm not losing ANYTHING by choosing dub over subs. In fact, when I've seen the English and Japanese dubs of something, I usually prefer the dub. It's just weeaboos giving dubs a bad name. Also, who gives a crap about lip sync? I've never cared. There's not really cultural misunderstanding in them either, I can understand everything from a dub. Pangoro "Sen" 445 Posted October 26, 2013 I actually think FFX-2 was a great FF game. I swear, everyone just thinks it sucks because it's fanservice or whatever. I think bacon doesn't make EVERYTHING better...only most things. I do NOT like Mario Galaxy 2 And this is a bit more of a confession, but I've never been good at 2D Platformers...or FPS games for that matter!
