Disney's Dislike of KH?

From another thread about Oswald the unlucky Rabbit (Check the game Epic Mickey for a better idea of who he is if you haven't heard of him, or google) about being in a KH, I saw a number of other gamers saying how Disney dislikes the KH series. To the thread at hand, what are some of your thoughts about Disney not liking the KH series. To me, if a company doesn't like the series, why continue to do it outside of money based reasons? I understand that people have their own thoughts and opinions about stuff, and that's fine, but Disney could just as easily now allow the use of their characters so that Square has total control over the series, in the same manner with Final Fantasy. (Though it's hard to picture now without Disney characters) I, along with everyone else who comes to this site, loves the series one way or another. From hearing about how Disney dislikes the KH series seems kind of like Square saying they dislike the FF series. What is everyone else's thought about Disney disliking the KH series?

this is probably untrue why would disney say they dont like a game that thier characters are in? i dont get it and personally dont believe the rumors

Disney's 'hate' is grossly exaggerated.

Basically, when Square was making KH1, they didn't like the direction the game was taking, and voiced complaints. Then the game became a hit and that shut them up.

Disney has become a scapegoat for every KH problem ever since.

Square-enix pretty much already has control over development of the games, disney just reviews it to make sure they arent be portrayed poorly. aside from that the only thing disney has a problem with these days is DLC. Disney's original hate for KH has mellowed out.

because like all companies all they care about is $$$, thats why kh is sticking around and they get most of the money cause they OWN the rights to it. you can check some of your official Kh merchandise, most likely it will say 'Disney ©'

Disney would never explicitly say that. Most likely it just meant kh is off-track of disney story or such so they have something against it. Maybe not all kh, just several kh they particularly dislike (dunno why). Isn't it more like SE bought disney's licence of characters so it doesn't really matter they dislike it or not, the SE would still make it. (Except maybe if something really horrible done by SE that damage disney image, like putting something inappropriate for them, they'll struggle to drop off the license) But if just minor opinion it won't do/affect much

I heard about Nomura having to explain the plot for the disney staff. that's so annyoing, just let square enix use them freely. I hated disney but started liking it because of KH. disney may not complain about anything

I don't think it's entirely true...if they did hate it they would limit the number of disney worlds in the game and have square make most of the worlds original...at least that's what I would've done if I was Disney and didn't like Kh.

You can't just give some other company complete creative freedom with your well loved, well known characters. If you don't want your characters being associated with things. Besides, implying Disney has no right to affect the story of a Disney game is preposterous.

It doesn't make them MUCH money. Less than pocket change to them, really. So Disney may hate it because what little money they make doesn't balance out any 'damage' they think the game is doing to their image.

tutti frutti. Not everything that's introduced to people, despite whatever it is let alone a brand new video game series, may not make a lot of money until people start liking that product more. If the KH series didn't sell, then I can understand Disney, let alone Square, not liking the series because it failed, which is understandable. If it's more so about money, they should more so give people what they want. For example, those of us in America may have KH1 and KH2 in English, and there are those who are willing and able to buy the Japanese final mix versions of these game. But if they offered the Square (Japan) offered the final mix versions in other regions, then Square in turn could make money off of of those games through those who are willing and able to buy them. I find making any amount of money, or even breaking even, on a product is far much better than losing money, if that's what Disney is so worried about.

The reason KH gets delayed all the time is because of last-minute changes-of-mind, which for example turned BBS into a PSP game rather than a PS2 game. Square is just being perfectionistic about it, and that's fine by me. Stop blaming Disney.

I more or less agree, but I feel the need to clarify two things:

1- Disney is not a person. Disney is a collection of millions of people. It can't as a whole hate something. The only person who's hate of KH could lad to its cancelation is Walt Disney himself, and he's dead.

2- KH gets delayed all the time because Square Enix is very inefficient. They don't start localizing most of their games until the Japanese version is practically done. Lately they've been doing a bit better though...

tutti frutti. I agree with Hatok and Earth_Angel. I can understand if a couple of people, who play video games, didn't care for the series or a specific game of the series, but for the entire company to dislike the series altogether is ridiculous. If Disney was absolutely against the series, then they would stop allowing Square to use their characters in the games, like Earth_Angel said. But hopefully this thread clears up any ideas about Disney disliking the KH series in any major way.
