Amon 4,279 Posted September 8, 2011 Several websites confirm that firefox is now faster than chrome. The main reason for this is due to chrome using up more computing power than firefox as each tab is sort of like a mini browser window while firefox is all one program. The time differences are hardly noticable if your internet is fast anyway but if your running slower internet speeds than it could make a difference. superbanana 230 Posted September 8, 2011 But shouldn't chrome still be faster if you only have one tab open?
Amon 4,279 Posted September 8, 2011 But shouldn't chrome still be faster if you only have one tab open? Nope, not sure how that works but start-up times are faster on firefox which is technically 1 tab (unless it's changed, but browsers are tested on default settings)
ssceles 134 Posted September 9, 2011 ......the separate RAM usage for each tab I find to be a good thing. It's more efficient and runs faster. My experience with Firefox was having one tab freeze and having to close the entire program. And, not only is it frozen, it just keeps sucking more and more RAM into a blackhole until the whole browser is shut down. If something goes wrong with a tab I'd rather just close one than the whole browser. My vote is on Chrome. Always. I just got my gf to convert to using Chrome after using Firefox for years. It doesn't lag down her old Windows nearly as much. I use Chrome on Windows 7 and previously on Vista. I just didn't like having to wait for Firefox to start up and even when it was open it ran slower than Chrome. Maybe I'll try Firefox again if it really isn't as slow as it definitely used to be. People can write these articles on speed tests all they like but in the end, they're just biased. And, really, people can like whatever browser they want. They should test them all out and find one that works with their computer the best. 1 Godot reacted to this

EpiXauce 19 Posted September 14, 2011 Meh, it doesn't really matter that it's faster to me, I just like the way it works better than Firefox.
