Ivan 969 Posted September 5, 2011 The following post is based on how the forum is now and how it was when the poster first joined. She hopes that no one is offended because she's been keeping this inside of her for a while. So, I haven't rated the site yet. But I'm going to list out what I like and don't like about the site before I rank it. Here are the things I like about it: The awesome friends I made. This is the first time I ever talked to my online friends outside of the forum. It's probably what kept me on kh13 for so long, because I kept contact with these friends. These friends opened my eyes to some new things. ...No Koko, not those things. I know you were thinking of that when reading the last sentence -shot-. I've grown out of that obsessive-yaoi-loving-anime-fan-phase and have matured a bit. They're also fun to vent to. When I first join a forum, if I don't make friends within the first few days, I usually leave. But, unfortunately, two little devils in disguise converted me to the dark side before I could reach the exit. The cutscene quality. The newer cutscenes are of awesome quality. Probably some of the best online. Pretty much all of the clips used in my videos are from this site. Cutscenes is what brought me to kh13 in the first place, so it deserves some recognition. This site is on top of kh-related news. We get news up pretty fast, thanks to all of the members when no staff is online. The staff is awesome. The mods and admins are great. They don't abuse their powers in anyway, they just do their job to keep the forum a good experience for everyone. I'm not just saying this because I am one. I'm saying this because they haven't changed that attitude from when I first joined. They don't ban/kick people easily, they give chances. A person can totally yell and swear shit at a mod and they'll still be given a chance. Try that on any other site and be banned until a week past eternity. The statuses. Even though it gives the site a 'facebook-ey' feel, the statuses have helped clean up a bit. People can post little updates, or random tidbits instead of making a thread about it that probably wouldn't be very active. It saves people from spamming the personal and random thread. And now for what I don't like about the site: Alot of members that I liked (or wish that I could've met) are gone. This is kind of a personal one. When I first joined there were some pretty awesome members. But they were growing up and had to move on with their lives. They post occasionally, but I never really got to talk to them often. And then there are members I hear stories about, and I just wish I either joined earlier or they stuck around longer. The lack of usage on the report button. Before becoming a mod, I tried to report stuff as often as possible, to help the mods out a bit. But now whenever I browse the threads, I see a bunch of double and triple posts. This obviously isn't allowed, but I don't see anyone reporting it. Which makes me wonder how many other threads there are that have double posts. Obviously, I don't have all the time in the world to check every thread on the site (neither do the other mods). That's what the report button is for. Report the post as being a double post and we'll get rid of it. Some people do report double posts, but it's usually when they make one on accident. There's also the repeated thread issue. People like to point out "Oh, there's already a thread about this" on a thread. By doing that, you're going to get in trouble --not big trouble if it's just that one time, but if you have a history of it, you'll get in big trouble. Instead of posting saying that there's already, just report the thread. I can't stress this enough. By posting, nothing will get done. Nobody is going to look for the new thread. People probably just expect the mods to find the thread themselves, then go on the search for the original. We might not notice the thread, and let people continue on posting in a repeated thread. Lack of updated rules page. This one is currently being worked on, but I have to say it. With changing to the new forum, we've lost some of the rules posted on the rules page (or it's just always been like that and we haven't updated? idk). Things that people don't really know about (which I don't understand because it's common sense) until either me or one of the other mods talk to them about it. But we're working on updating the rules page so it shouldn't be a problem for much longer. I feel like I'm too old for the site. Before you say anything, I'm not even that old. I'm 17. Still pretty young, last year of high school, going to be turning 18 within 7 or so months. But like, it seems that the majority of the site has the age range of 9-14. And I'm pretty shocked by some of the things people in that age range say. I definitely don't remember swearing or worried about dating when I was 11 or 14. And I can't exactly talk to 9-14 year old's,. I'm just gonna say it: preteen angst. That seems to be the majority of what I see from that age group (I can't exactly relate to that, my childhood wasn't exactly traumatic like the ones on here). Also, when the younger members and older members clash talk about serious stuff, it ends up in a huge argument. Plus, I don't even know if I'll be here next year once I go off to college. I'm going to be busy this year getting into college, and doing everything I can to make my senior year awesome. Once I go to college, I'm going into this new part of my life, and I doubt I'll have much time for kh13. Like I said, I feel like I'm too old for this site. I've grown out of Kingdom Hearts. Ever since joining kh13 I've been slowly loosing my interest in the series. After kh3 I'll most likely stop keeping up with the games. To be honest (which I think I've been doing alot in this post), the only games I really like in the series is Kingdom Hearts and Birth by Sleep. Pretty much everyone on this site seems to have a favor for Kingdom Hearts 2, and I'm just sitting here in my corner sipping my cup of hot chocolate. This also ties in with the friends thing. My friends on here introduced me to new things. New shows, new games, new music, new comics. I've gotten into new fandoms. And this also ties in with the 'too old for the site' thing. In the fandoms I've joined, there are more people around my age, while the majority of people in the Kingdom Hearts fandom are young. I just can't get into it like I could when I was in 2nd grade and the game first came out. Joining this site made me realize that. And that's pretty much all I can think of at the moment. If I think of something else I'll come back and edit. Because of that, I'll rate the site a 5, mainly because there's basically an even amount of stuff I like and dislike. There you have it, my honest opinion. Come at me, bro. (I actually debated with myself a ton about posting this. Mostly because I didn't want people to be upset by anything I said.) 4 Razorwind Keyblade, Koko, Amon and 1 other reacted to this
Rob 5,571 Posted September 5, 2011 I say this because KH news is few and far between. It's always a good thing to cover other things if there's a KH news drought, which there is for about 75% of the year. Then you could just find a FF site in the meantime. Just saying. Razorwind Keyblade 304 Posted September 5, 2011 Wow uhm well.... The forum is better than the one at kh2.co.uk and khinsider but kh2.co.uk is a better place to go to if you want KH info. So I'll give it... a 0? Nah just kidding I'll give it a 8.
animemylove 439 Posted September 5, 2011 I'd have to say 8 .. the home page seems a little plain to me and same goes for the background of the forums, otherwise it's a great site!
