Dave 5,715 Posted April 8, 2013 If it's not in the story presented within the game, it might as well have never happened.

NO_HEART_XIII 312 Posted June 21, 2013 I love Vanitas.
PieLuvah 317 Posted October 30, 2014 14th paragraph: "He could feel Ventus' heart, meaning he could feel good and positive things from Ventus. According to the novel, he very well understood what positive emotions like love, happiness and friendship are." Xehanort's Report XII: The time has come. I have received word from Eraqus that his pupils are to become true Keyblade Masters. Terra and Aqua...They will be easy now to lure into the outside world. But Ventus! I will get nowhere without him. Vanitas can feel some of what Ventus feels, and he says Terra is the key. Ventus has loved Terra like a real brother ever since he let him keep his old wooden Keyblade. It seems we have found a loose thread at which we can tug to unravel Ventus's heart. The first step is to get Terra alone; then we need to plant the seeds of doubt in Ventus. Let him carry his faint light as he chases his brother into the darkness. Let the darkness make his light stronger, then let the light deepen the darkness. And where the two finally meet is where the stuff of legends will become real. All of this is really sad and interesting and all, but It would be sadder more interesting if this was canon.
Aros 670 Posted October 30, 2014 heck what a backstory! so while i'll enjoy destroy unversed all around the world for exp, munny, item and missions of the arena.... poor vanitas was in agony? even if he's a sadist (and try to kill aqua ) i don't thing he deserve all this pains PS: this resolve a question i had: if he command all the unversed why he didn't use them on the battles with him? Maybe It's because Van thinks of the unverse as his weakness as stated in the story, and that's why he fights with his own strength.

KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted October 31, 2014 Interesting, however, there is one little problem here, anyone who has fallen to darkness sympathizes with no one. Remember Vanitas in BbS? He was so willing to eliminate Aqua and make Ventus part of himself. Master Xehanort, who has let darkness take him, had no regret killing Eraqus. I find some issues with this "back story". Isn't that the whole reason for his back story? so we can see how Vanitas ended up the way he is now? Master Xehanort, true that he let the darkness take him, though in the beginning of BbS where he leaves behind Ventus to die on Destiny Islands, show indications of him having sympathy thinking that Ven will have his last dying moments in peace there. so Master Xehanort has some sympathy. He has always been that way. Vanitas is pure darkness of Ventus's heart. Remember Master Xehanort said "He is an abomination beyond hope of salvation" so how can he have any light at all to feel sympathy? Master Xehanort only wanted Ventus for the X-blade. He left Ven to die in an empty world (Destiny Islands), leaving him to pass away peacefully in the small world that does not offer much. Besides, Xehanort did not exactly seem too kind nor sympathetic leaving Ven to die in "an empty world, like a prison".

Now we don't know that for sure, at the beginning of BbS Ven was a zombie 4 years later he became the sweet, cheerful boy we can play as. Ven changed during those 4 years, Who's to say that's not the same case for Vanitas? though in the game we didn't really get any insight as to how Vanitas acted after his creation and the following 4 years, given the thought that this novel isn't canon the player can conclude that Vanitas has always been the way he is in the game. Maybe that can change though if KH 3 sheds some light onto the subject of Vanitas' backstory. True that MX isn't nice and that he is a cold man. When Ven was about to die he could just left him in the keyblade graveyard not caring whatever happens to him, but he brought Ven to Destiny Islands so he can at least pass peacefully. In the entire kingdom hearts series this is the only time where Xehanort exhibits slight sympathy and nowhere else in the entire series.
Ibrahim Gamal 5 Posted November 5, 2014 I do think Vanitas will be back because: #1 I always loved him from the start, I even made a penguin in "Club penguin" called Vanitas99 #2 That does sound the same as a character who turned & had a major part with good. "Gaara of the sand"
