I am SO pissed off at YouTube now!

Recommended Posts

So I just got on my computer and went to check my email. I see I have one from YouTube saying that a video has been removed due to copywright infringement. So I read it and see it's a vid that I has posted a couple years ago. I shrug it off as YouTube idiocy, since they've done it before, even though I state in all my videos that I don't own any of the content in the videos, which usually gets me off the hook with it. Well, I keep reading and find out that because of it my accound has now been terminated!?!? I am sooooo pissed off right now!

I have 2 strikes now because of the KH remix GMV's I did when I first joined. It's funny because most likely nobody buys the CD anyways.

Yeah. I've had warnings in the past and I've always fought them saying that I state I don't own the content and that it's not for personal gain, just the enjoyment of others, and most of the time it works. However, lately they've just been removing old vids from a few years ago without warning, so I couldn't fight it. And now because of that I no longer have an account. Ever since Google bought them out, YouTube has just sucked.

i think all copyright laws suck. i get that there should be a law so you don't try to pass somebody elses work off as your own, but when it gets to being against the law to remix music and stuff, it's just stupid.

I've had YT tell me that the KH cutscenes I uploaded are owned by Square Enix, but SE has yet to make a move to take them down. I'm good for now, but if they ever decide to file copyright, I'm done.

I have two strikes on my videos due to "copyright infringement" even though I copy and paste the same "I don't own any of the things in my videos all belong to their rightful owners, copyright goes solely to the jksdifjxejcixd" stuff in all my descriptions...

YouTube is just really paranoid with getting sued.

Youtube gave me a strike on several of my 8 bit videos, but they can't tell me who the third party is -.-

And yet they don't strike me for my arrangements. Odd. Youtube really has gotten stupid though. And if that copyright bill passes, 90% of our Youtube accounts will be terminated.

Not only will they be terminated, but the people will also be arrested.

Because of the new bill. If it comes to law, anyone who gets ten strikes from it will get arrested.

That is pretty unfair, if you clearly put in that it didn't belong to you, they have no right to terminate your account. Removing the videos, they do have that right I suppose even though it sucks for people like me who try to stay caught up over the web to not fall totally behind for about 6 months to a year. Now Final Mixes will seriously kill those of us who don't live in Japan because people can't even post the final mix scenes up anymore- stupid law. Nomura should definitely change something now or he will lose fans. I like KH but if I'm going to be continuously denied content legally, and I can't even see extra scenes online, it's not worth it. I've always missed out on game play but I was comforted with the fact that at least I had the cut scenes to view whenever I wanted.

Remember when Youtube used to be cool? You could go there, and maybe find a cool video. Now its a glorified advertisement.

Can't wait until they cut out the middle man, and only give accounts to businesses.

Sights like Facebook and youtube are going down the drain. Youtube is going to be over taken by some other website. Remember when everyone did Myspace. Facebook took most of its users away. I dont post any videos on my account do to the fact that they have craked down on this stuff.

Actually, YouTube did get taken over. Google bought it out a few years ago, which is why things have gone to shit there. It's because of Google that YouTube started cracking down.

No, it's because companies have realized that the internet isn't just a 'phase' and want control over it. It took them a long time for some reason. Basically, lots of companies are forcing Youtube to crack down on this stuff.

I got a strike years ago for putting up a naruto amv, so I stopped editing with that and stuck with kingdom hearts for a while. A second strike was for a utada song and my third that shut my account down was for the content in a slideshow I had but the thing was the company that claimed it I'm pretty sure had no rights over Namine fanart...

Yeah...

So my first account (with my username that's the same on here) got shut down... I had it since 2006. D:

Now I'm on KaiSo06 and I only have advertisements and my videos for the most part are at least blocked in only Germany. But I have no "strikes" so far. o-o

Youtube & the companies doing this are kind of stupid with the copyrights. If it's a video or someone's posting a walkthrough or trailer and it's not to gain some kind of profit they should leave it alone! If anything it's free advertising for their shows/games/music/etc. -- Honestly I've been tempted to buy CD's and some video games or movies because I saw someone's music video or walkthrough on youtube...

I wish they would be more lenient on some things, but if that 10 strikes law passes there's like no hope for the internet anymore...

I find it fine. My current account, KHSora96, has no strikes what so ever. And nearly all my videos can be watched by the entire world. And you've got to remember a lot of it is not YouTube or Google's faults. Sometimes it's just bots, or a company.

Yeah, it sucks, but it's not Youtube's fault. They were bought out, and the site itself isn't the one taking videos and accounts- the companies behind the copyright claims are.

I've got lucky, since I've had my account since... around 2006-2007, and I haven't had any strikes thus far despite uploading videos quite often. I'm frequently blocked in other countries, but I haven't had a video muted or taken in a long while. There's a paragraph on fair use somewhere that you can just copy-paste into the dispute box, and it usually gets you whatever they've taken back- I can't find it, though, although I'm sure it's floating around somewhere.
