DChiuch 5,773 Posted February 5, 2009 It was between 2002/2003, when I was 9. I was planning to buy some PS2 game, but they had a deal where it was just as cheap to buy three of them. So, I had to pick two games that I didn't really want. I knew that my friend liked Kingdom Hearts, so I decided to try that out. (My 300th post, btw.) Xhemir 1 Posted February 5, 2009 around 05 i think...a friend of mine was a huge fan and he'd always tell me what was going on in the game and stuff, then some time later i finaly bought the game...so yeah i got into KH because of a friend
Kairi-loves-Sushi 15 Posted February 5, 2009 well, a friend of my brother's got him into KH2 and I always watched my brothers play it. I think that was around...06. So KH2 was the first KH game I played and then I played CoM for the GBA and then I played KH1. So I played the games backwards http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smiley-confuse.png
kairiwilson1 47 Posted February 5, 2009 hmm.... well it all starts with my sister. in 2002 she played kingdom hearts at her friend's house and really liked it (she played on her friend's save). So on my 8th birthday (still in 2002) my mom took me and my sister shopping (since my mom gave up on trying to buy us gifts she'd think we'd like). my sister was really only there to help me pick something out. I however, didn't want anything, so apparently my mom told my sister she could buy something if she wanted. So we headed over to Best Buy and my sister dearest bought Kingdom Hearts. When we got home I started watching t.v and my sister went into the basement to start playing the game. After 3 hours she stormed up the stairs and told me to start a game a figure out how to get off the islands. I told her I didn't want to because I thought the game looked stupid and was boring. She forced me to play anyways (because she's a stupid butmonkey and couldn't figure out how to get off the islands). My sister hovered over me the first few minutes upon my starting of Kingdom Hearts (I'm sorry, but the first time I saw Sora, when he was falling in the opening video, I thought he was girl!!), but quickly decided that watching me play was extremely boring, so she headed out to hang out with some friends (my sister and I are 5 years apart, so she was 13). In her absence I continued to play the game, hating it every minute I was playing. But as I progressed through the game, I found that it was getting hard to hate it. Afterall, Kingdom Hearts was the first RPG game I had ever played, so it was so...different to me. In about an hour to two hours worth of playing I was in Traverse Town, wondering to myself why my sister didn't go up to the mini island thing. My sister had called home and said she was spending the night, so I took that to my advantage and continued playing. When my sister came home I next day, I was already in Agrabah. From then on, I was banned from playing Kingdom Hearts, just because I was ahead of her. So in return, I didn't tell her the obvious answer as to how to get off the islands. Throughout the rest of the year, I played Kingdom Hearts in secret. For about 5 to 10 minutes a day I played, then quickley saved and got off before my sister figured out what i was doing. But pretty soon she noticed that I was saving my game on another save spot down in the 70's (i'm not THAT dumb!!) and complained to my parents that I was playing her game without permission. My parents simply told her that she needed to learn to share (which she has yet to do http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smiley-confuse.png). In her anger and jealousy (I already completed the game 100% by then, including minigames and such. I was a level 99!!!), my sister deleted my saves. I, naturally, was pissed. After that, I never played Kingdom Hearts again. The year wore on and I hadn't thought any of Kingdom Hearts until I saw a commercial for Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for the GameBoy Advance. The first time I saw it I wasn't really paying attention, and by the time I noticed what it was, the commercial was over. I spent hours watching the t.v like I would if it were the super bowl, when the regular show came on I walked away...but when the commercials came on I paid very close attention. About two hours after first seeing the commercial, I saw it again! I was so excited when I saw it that I remembered how much I loved Kingdom Hearts and realized how much I needed that game!!Luckily, it was almost Hanukkah, just a few monthes to go!! I immediatly told my mom the news and she simply said "Okay" and walked away. Hanukkah 2003, I got a red GameBoy Advance, The Sims Urbz, and Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. (Yes, I was already a sims fan before kingdom hearts came around) I was so excited I started playing it as soon as I opened it. Finally! I finally had a kingdom hearts game all to myself!! I could play it whenever I wanted and my sister couldn't stop me!! However, it took me forever to finish that game, for I got stuck on Hades, Captain Hook, and Repliku. Even a few times I was nice and stopped playing and let my sister play it a few times. Sometime in June 2004, I finally got to the 13th floor. After many attempts against Repliku, I finally beat him!! I thought floor 13 was just like all the others, So I ran to the other side of the hall in hopes of quickly saving my game and moving on!!! But Larxene stopped me. As I was engaged in half panicking, half trying-to-focus battle against Larxene (because I did NOT want to fight Repliku again!!!) I was almost about to beat her when...my sister came home. She came bursting through the door shouting into her cell phone. Startled, I quickley paused the game and waited for her to shut up. When she finally did I went back to playing my game, only to be interupted once again by my sister. Apparently she had it in her mind that I actually cared what happened in her social life, so she started going into great detail about her problems and whatnot. Desperatly wanting to continue my game, I told my sister to go tell someone who cares. She gave me an evil glare and stomped upstairs, and made various loud noises, knowing that would disturb me. I tried to ignore her and continued my battle with Larxene. Since my fingers had a nice long rest, I was quick to select my cards and throw the final blow! At long last, I had finally defeated Larxene (in this time period, I hated Larxene!!). I sighed a sigh of relif and did a little happy victory dance, which mainly consisted of me stretching out on the couch. My sister came stomping down the stairs and started yelling for no apparent reason. I was currently collecting my expirence points at the time, but when she came down I look towards her...and when I looked back down at the screen I noticed I had a pearly looking point still roaming around. I quickly went to grab it...but then the screen went black. Then, I'm back in the hallway, and Larxene is disappearing (it didn't occur to me how violent kingdom hearts actually was until kingdom hearts 2, "^-^). With my OCD kicking in (I NEED to get ALL the experience things!!! @.o) I furiously stood up and threw my GBA at the front door screaming something along the lines of: "DARN YOU, SHERI!! YOU MADE ME MESS UP!!!!!!" It wasn't until I heard the loud CRAAACK that I realized what I had done. All my anger suddenly flushed away and in came all the worry. Was Kingdom Hearts okay? What the GBA okay??? Hopefully it's not broken.... I ran to the door and picked up my GBA, while my sister silently ran upstairs, avoiding another outburst. The GBA was fine, except for one little scratch on the side. But the game was frozen. I panicked. I went back to couch and started pressing random buttons, hoping the game would resume. It never did. It was frozen at the part right before Larxene completely faded. The realization and regret hit me, followed by many angry tears. Why would I sacrifice my beloved game!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?? Why?!!?!?! Reluctantly, I turned the game off and restarted it, making sure it still worked. It did, but I was back in the Destiny Islands, right before my battle with Repliku. Upset, angry, and depressed, I turned the GBA off and put it away on the shelf where I always put it after playing. Only this time, it would stay there for a long two years. Again, I let my mind drift away from my obsession with Kingdom Hearts. I focused on my studies and worked towards becoming the best at everything: acedemics, reading skills, writing skills, blah blah blah. Pretty soon I was no longer interested in video games. For so long I stayed away from electronics, finding my books and studies much more interesting. I became it all. I was the smartest person in my grade, I was in the top three for smartest person in the school, I had excellent grades and I even started hanging out with my friends rather than waste away in my house. Sure, by then the Sims 2 was already out, so if I wasn't already doing something, I was playing the sims. It always amused the crap out of me how they would respond to different situations and such... Anyways, In 2005 I heard a rumor that Kingdom Hearts 2 was being released. At first, I shrugged it off. but one faithful day as I was going to EB Games to buy one of the new sims 2 expansion packs, I saw Kingdom Hearts 2 sitting on the shelf. The cover was so shiny...I walked over and saw it was the last one in stock. Curious, I grabbed it and looked at the back. The second game seemed more deep than the first game. I put back the sims 2 game a decided to try out Kingdom Hearts 2. One thing I definatly didn't expect was Roxas!! At first I was wondering why I was playing this Roxas guy and not Sora. It had been two years since I played Chain of Memories, but I didn't think they connected. But nonetheless, Roxas became one of my favorite characters and I was very upset when I had to play as Sora again. I was a bit reluctant to play Kingdom Hearts 2, as I don't like challenges that much...nor did I like losing. For the first few monthes after getting the game, I rarely played. But then I got the the Olympus Colieseum and met Demyx. Then I became aware that the Organization might be a positive addition to the game. After that I played more often, quickly breezing through the game without any trouble. My only real problems with kingdom hearts 2 were Space Paranoids (Light Cycle, grr!! I lost that game EVERY time!!), Demyx (I dn't care what Jimminey's Journal has to say, Demyx was HARD the first time through!!), and The Grim Reaper (From Port Royal, the second time I had to fight that thing I kept losing because of those cursed coins!!). By the end of Kingdom Hearts 2, I remembered why I loved the kingdom hearts games: because of the boss battles. I love the boss battles. Especially the challenging boss battles. Like Xaldin, that was a challenge!! I finished Kingdom Hearts 2 on a happier note than the other two games. After that, I was always thinking about kingdom hearts. In the middle of conversations, random words would remind me of kingdom hearts. I replayed the game over and over again, loving it more and more. I became the gamer I never was, and even took on more challenges, like Hitman and God of War. My brother and I became closer, as we both desired a life full of video games. It wasn't until late 2008 that I decided I wanted to express my fandom for Kingdom Hearts in more than just thoughts. At first I made extremely cruddy videos, and later took on AMVs. I started reading fanfictions and grew likings for certain pairings. And now I'm here, on an kingdom hearts fansite expressing my history and fandom for kingdom hearts.   any questions? EDIT: lol, i just noticed i used random semi-formality when typing this! "^-^
Kaiso 2,764 Posted February 5, 2009 I asked for it for christmas when it first came out in the U.S., Then I got it, screamed and ran into the room with a PS2 ignoring all the other presents, turning on the TV and playing it for hours. 8D I have been an addict ever since. Bought every game, even pre-ordered them. =DDD
Inuzukagirl77 7 Posted February 5, 2009 Hmmm.... Well I guess it started when my friend, Kain, was talking about Kingdom Hearts II in school and wouldn't stop. Then when I went to one of my best friends house that weekend she played it and I thought it was awesome! So when I went back to school I talk with Kain about it and then my other friend, Howard, (most my friends are guys) said that he would let me borrow his. I was all like "YES! O.O". So this all happened in March of 2008 and I played 3 times before I gave it back to him. (he didn't get it until the last day of school ) So it was a combination of three people. ^w^ So there is my story!
Fansunu 0 Posted February 6, 2009 Mine all started some time before Christmas in late 2006. I was obsessed with Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch) at the time, and my brother and I went into GAME (European videogame shop) in our nearest town to have a look. I saw Kingdom Hearts II at the back of the room and went to go look at it (at first I thought Sora looked kinda like a girl o.o) and looked at the back, which had Stitch on it. So then I went, "OMG I HAVE TO HAVE THIS!" and I begged my parents for it for Christmas. I played it for 10 hours on Christmas day. I did once joke that it was the "worst game ever", because after Roxas's time was over I stupidly thought the game was over in just three hours for some reason... Anyway, that's how I became obsessed with it...I only had one game at the time, but now I have all the games, Final Mixes, plushies, an action figure, manga, art books and more to do with Kingdom Hearts. YourUnknownColor 0 Posted February 10, 2009 I actually only got the game last year, but I remembered that I desperately wanted it when it came out in the US. I couldn't get it then because we didn't have a PS. I got it over the summer and then quickly got KHII the same year. I'm still obsessed with it even though it's almost a year into how long I've had the game.

saixs-littleangel 2 Posted February 13, 2009 i acutally saw one of my friends play the 2nd Kingdom Hearts for PS2. she beat it in 5 minutes (she was already at the end anyway). i told her it looked interesting so she let me borrow it and id didn't give it back for an entire year (i beat it 10 times!). ever since i've been a fan of Kingdom Hearts and of course, Organization XIII!!!!! i still have yet to play Chain of Memories and the first one. but they both look so much harder than Kingdom Hearts 2! e-no91 0 Posted February 25, 2009 i start to know the first Kingdom Hearts from a local mag GEMPAK around the year it was released..by that time,i only have PSone and i really love FFVIII and FFVII...Square-soft developed FF,and i read that KH is developed by Square-Enix and Disney! and i thought ,wow, this game is going to be great and i bet the graphics will be awesome~~so yeah,i've been hoping to play KH ever since!..but PS2 is sooo expensive by that time... Late last year(that's years of waiting), my mother finally bought a PS2 from my uncle for my sister bcoz of her good results in an exam..and when we go to the game store to buy cds..the first thing i seached for is KH,FF and DMC..i got KH and KHII ,but then i couldn't just play coz i also hv exams and for some reason i don't play even after the exam's over..(that's so not like me--i'm crazy with video games!) Then i found out that my sister is already ahead of me (in KH,she's already fighting against Riku-Ansem in Hollow Bastion, but always lost, that even my younger brother remembers the script for that cutscene..) n i got totally pissed off! It's my cd,so i should finish it first!! So I played and its sooo cool and i also finished KHII! but my sister is still stuck there..i helped, but now she's stuck in another fight..hehe..she finished KHII though. I have no idea that there's Re:CoM for PS2,i've always thought its for GBA only..i found the cd in a game store but i didn't bought it coz i think the graphics not going to be good if its a remake from GBA(sooooo silly of me to underestimate SQUARE!!). then i searched the internet and find out that CoM is the bridge between KH and KHII and i must have it!!! i also knew about the yet to be released Coded,358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep from the same mag, wayyyyy before we have a PS2. Thank you GEMPAK for introducing me Kingdom Hearts!!! http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smiley-confuse.png
SleepingRoxas 0 Posted March 31, 2009 Well, let's see....I remember knowing about Kingdom Hearts but not really paying attention. It looked cool, but I just didn't really pay attention...then one day I was over at a friend's house playing PS2 and she told me about this "AWESOME game" called Kingdom Hearts. Later I was at Blockbuster and saw KH2. I was stupid.....-___- I didn't even notice the II behind "Kingdom Hearts" so, following my friend's advice, I rented it. I didn't have a clue about what was going on at first but it got much clearer, and I fell in love with the game. I bought my own copy of KH2, and the original KH1. Now it's been almost 2 years...wow...well, I've come a long way and now I'm like a total Kingdom Hearts geek I've got all the games except KH1 FM and the original GBA COM, and I make AMVs and gush about it and so on.... Mayu 2 Posted April 2, 2009 Got the game for Christmas I think the year it came out and had no idea what it was or why my parents got it for me. That night I tried all the video games I got. One game was fun, the other hard and boring, the other very hard, and Kingdom Hearts was last. I enjoyed Destiny Islands a lot but once in Traverse Town, I was totally lost. I could not beat a single thing and, after already being frustrated about the other 2 useless games my parents wasted money on, took the game out and threw it on my shelf, where it would stay for 5 years (yes, 5 years!). Then one day after school I was really bored so looked at all my games and especially at the ones that I didn't already beat a million times and found Kingdom Hearts, said why not, and played it from the beginning again. I finally got past Traverse Town and loved the lands that followed and the whole story of the heartless, keyblade/keyblade master, and the power of hearts. Beat it about a year later (my gameplay at the beginning was probably 10 minutes at a time but increased later on) and was totally hooked on the game. By this time KH 2 had already been out for years so I asked for it for Christmas and when I got it I started ASAP. Before getting it, however, I watched the opening tons of times (I loved the theme song as in KH1) and thought Sora cut and dyed his hair. But began playing and fell 10x more in love with this game (I loved Organization 13 and liked the different worlds, especially Twilight Town, and they also had my favorite Disney movie in it: The Lion King) and finished it within a few weeks. Had to get Re:CoM to see more of Organization 13 (AXEL! hehe) and clear some confused points. Now everyone I know knows I am addicted to KH!
