Balthier shakes his head.

"No." He answers Zack. "Johnny is still back where you left us."

Balthier looks back the way he had come.

"Best rejoin our friend. Hopefully he's feeling better."

OOC: My keyboard broke (spacebar not working), so my posts will be less frequent for a bit. I give AnsemtheWise, rikunobodyxiii, and SKLEKGF permission to use Hope and Serah in my absence.

OOC: And lol about Dr. Cid seeing Lightning's brand. You know where it is, right?

 

Serah sat watching over Johnny.

 

"How does it feel, to lose control?" she asked him.

 

Johnny looked up at her questioningly.

 

"Do you know what you're doing? Do you feel what you're hurting? Do you care about..." Serah started to cry. Warm tears landed on Johnny. Tears for Snow.

 

"I've just lost someone very special to me," She said between her tears. "To a boy out of control. The world didn't seem to agree with him at all. He killed my Snow, but Snow told me to take it easy on him. Was he in control? Did he know he was hurting a friend? Can I trust him? Or should I put an end to him? Hope!" she shouted into the air.

 

"But then, he'd be just as well off as you," she said. "You're a good person, but are capable of terrible things..."

 

Just then, three Manakins appeared.

 

Serah jumped up, wiped her tears away and steadied an arrow.

 

"I promise to protect you, no matter what happens," she said to Johnny.

 

The manakins charged.

Dr. Cid held up his paper to the sun. Suddenly, a boomerang flew from the sea and grabbed the paper from him. It circled back to the sea and a boy caught it. Lightning snapped around.

 

Standing in the water (surprisingly dry, but that's video game logic for you) was Hope holding Nue in the air, paper in his hands.

 

"Come on Lightning! Let's go!" he shouted.

 

Dr. Cid stared at him.

 

"That's how you propose to save the world, by destroying the forces that sustain our lives!" Hope shouted at him. He was reminded of his plight against the fal'cie, but this was a different story. Or was it? This nagging question made him ponder what the right path was, but he needed to act.

 

"I'm through listening to you!" Hope shouted again.

 

Lightning, who had been standing in surprise, didn't seem ready to move. Hope lunged forward and grabbed her on the shoulder. The two of them teleported.

 

Hope and Lightning were plunging through darkness to their unknown destination. As Hope held onto Lightning, he felt a strange feeling. It was the same one that he felt when he shook Dr. Cid's hand, but it hadn't been their when she had touched him earlier. Was it, no it couldn't be. Darkness? Or Chaos?

{Dr Cid}

Dr Cid curses as he tries to follow Hope and Lightning, but fails.

"Curse that boy!" He yells in frustration.

He stops a moment to compose himself.

"How much did we lose?" Venat asks.

"Nothing." Dr Cid says, his voice clam once again. "I have copies of everything and that book was coded. They might break the code, but by then, we should be ahead of them."

"Giving up on Lightning?" Venat inquires.

Dr Cid thinks a moment.

"She would not have gone with our main plan anyway, but she could still be helpful in ending this war."

Dr Cid sighs.

"The problem is Hope. He could ruin everything."

"True." Venat agrees. "But we should give him a chance to hear us out before we brand him an enemy."

Dr Cid nods.

"Agreed."

Dr Cid looks around.

"Can you track them, Venat?"

"Yes. I will guide you to them."

Dr Cid follows after Venat, searching for Hope and Lightning.

Hope and Lightning were soaring through Darkness. Where they would wind up was anyone's guess (OOC: or AnsemtheWise's decision); Hope hadn't had any destination in mind when they warped.

 

Hope heard a woman's voice in his head.

 

Come to me my warrior.

 

What could the voice mean?

OOC: And Oblivion's back (kinda). Yay!

 

"Hope." The two of them hurtled through the darkness. They say that you can feel the darkness eating away at your heart when you travel like this, but Lightning didn't feel anything. "What are you doing? What do you plan to do to stop all of this?" The darkness around them broke, Hope looking at her as if in shock.

 

"Wh-What do you mean?" Her armor glinted in the earthlight of the Lunar Subteranne. (OOC: Earthlight is a word.)

 

"This war has to end. Even Chaos said so." There was no softness in her tone. "I'm going to find Ultima, and then I'm going to... I don't know, but I won't wait for anyone else to get hurt." Hope caught the implication: she still hated him for what he did to Snow.

 

"I'm sorry Hope, but there are two choices at this point." Her brand burned red through the armor, the shield and sword appearing in a flash of dark light. "You're either with me... or against me."

Zack nodded.

"alright." he said, they quickly headed down to where Johnny and Serah were, Manikins were attacking, Zack hurried forward and slashed through one, and then stabbed another, they fell appart and faded away, he breathed.

"You guys alright?" he asked, they nodded.

"Good." Zack said, relieved... he looked at Serah.

"Did something happen?" he asked, she had tear marks around her eyes.

{Balthier}

Balthier follows Zack to Johnny and Serah. He thinks about helping Zack, but Zack didn't seem to need it.

Balthier starts to walk over to Johnny, when Zack asks Serah if something happened. Balthier stops next to Zack.

"Her betrothed recently died." Balthier says softly to Zack. "Help, but don't press."

Balthier walks over to Johnny and crouches.

"Still laying down on the job?" Balthier asks Johnny, his voice back to normal volume, with a hint of humor in his voice.

Balthier pulls a Remedy from his poach and gets Johnny to drink it.

"Let's see if that gets you back on your feet."

Johnny started his check with his arms, hands and fingers. They could move. He then got back up on his feet. He then looked over at Serah, "I am truely sorry. When that happens, I can't do anything. I'm stuck looking out behind those fiery eyes." It took a second before Johnny realized fully what Serah said, "WAITAMINUTE... Hope killed Snow? That boy..." He began to run off when he realized his anger. Something that someone told him before began to ring in his head, "Fear leads to anger... anger leads to hate... hate leads to suffering..." He stopped in his tracks, put his hands together and took a few deep breaths. He turned back to his allies, "We should get going."

{Balthier}

Balthier smiles.

"I couldn't agree more." Balthier says in a causal voice.

He looks over at Zack.

"Where are we taking your prize?"

Zack shrugged.

"Dunno,, I still have no clue what to do with it." Zack said, forming the object in his hand, Johnny looked at it, Zack then made it dissipear.

"I guess I'll keep it with me." he said, Balthier nodded.

'So Hope killed Snow huh... i always felt there was something wrong with that kid.' he thought to himself, they started moving north, farther into Chaos Territory.

Vicente continued to pace when he sensed the conflict between Lightning and Hope. The warrior and the traitor. These could be pawns worth looking into. He opened a portal to the Lunar Subterrane and saw Lightning holding her weapon at Hope. He walked up to them casually, "Hello, my fellow warriors."

As the group ventured towards the volcano, Johnny began to let go of more and more. He keep telling himself not to summon the x-Blade, to keep in tune with the calm. He was angry about Hope, but he did know that he would see him again soon enough.

Lightning's attention snapped to the side, her blade following. "Another warrior of Chaos, I assume." She stole a glance at Hope, still unsure of him. "What do you want?"

Sec paced the lab, the solutions in the tubes before him glowing. Magicite, nethicite... it seemed to work, but would it be of any use? This meritted further investigation. However, fresh samples would be required.

 

He opened a dark portal, stepping through into Ivalice. This world would do...

Vicente approached Lightning, "What do I want? You mean besides revenge on Johnny Madman? Simple. I want help finding Madman so I can use him as an insurance policy for Ultima. After all, he doesn't know that either of you fight for Chaos now. You're perfect for my little plan."

{Dr Cid}

Dr Cid waits a moment as Venat scouts ahead. He racks his brain with what he will say to convince Hope and Lightning to help him. He fears that they are a lost cause, but he can't give up just yet.

Dr Cid suddenly had a doubt. Was he right in his plan? The goal was right, but had he thought through his plan enough. Dr Cid breaths in heavily. To make his plan work, it was going to take more time to address every problem. But first thing was first.

"Stop Chaos." Dr Cid says aloud.

That is what needs to happen. He can worry about removing Cosmos and Chaos when he had time to consider all the angles first.

Venat appears in front of Dr Cid.

"Change off plans, my friend." Dr Cid says, before Venat could speak. "Let us finish this war, then set about taking control of our fate."

"The boy got to you?" The Occurian asks.

Dr Cid reluctantly nods.

"He reminded me of certain dangers that I had dismissed." Dr Cid sighs. "I'm a man of science. If I am going to free man from the petty 'gods,' I must do it with more thought then brashly forming a weapon to destroy them."

Venat was silent for a moment, then it moves slightly. Dr Cid recognizes the move as a nod.

"Thank you, my friend." Dr Cid says.

Dr Cid clears his throat.

"What did you learn?"

"They are not alone." Venat reports. "We should go quickly."

Venat opens a portal to Lunar Subterrane. Dr Cid steels himself and steps through.

joe was surrounded by a bright light unshore as to where he was images of joes past began to fade out of his mind "no no i wont forget i cant" joe tried to fight back against what was ever trying to make him forget his home the light then faded and joe was out cold on the floor still remembering parts of his home

Zack looked to Johnny, he put his hand on his shoulder.

"It's okay." he said, Johnny sighed. Genesis was dealt with, shouldn't be anymore problems... Zakc still felt unsure about the girl Genesis kille,d somethign seemed a bit... off. he looked out and saw Manikins, Zack summoned his sword.

"C'mon, let's get this over with." he said, he slashed through one.

when joe finally came throw he slowly sat up and looked around he put his hand to his head as he had a huge head ache joe then shoke his head he then slowly stud up and looked around "where the hell am i" joe then drew his sword unshore if this place was safe or not joe looked around and began to walk around nobody in sight

The new arrival startled Hope. Hope drew out Nue and turned to face him.

 

"Can't we get a moment alone without any of you Chaos goons butting in? You're swarming like insects!" the boy shouted.

 

Before Vicente could reply, Hope tossed Nue at a nearby pillar, crumbling it. Hope turned to Lightning.

 

"It's been proven, we cannot trust anybody," Hope said before the dust had cleared. "Not even each other. I plan on finding Ultima, but first, I need to have a word with Cosmos. Join me, or protect your goddess. Come with me either way and don't trust that guy."

Hope didn't have the energy to summon another portal, but he turned to run.

"Protect your goddess? That kid is ill-informed as ever," Vicente laughed as Hope ran off. "So, you're as devious as the boy. Turning against your friends AND family for an end to the war." It appeared as if Lightning wasn't getting the message, so Vicente turned to a more desperate measure, "Now that your sister's involved in this war, I should tell you something. Johnny is unstable in the mind and almost took off her head. I saw it with my own eyes. You can even ask your 'allies'."

Jaina awakened in her mind. She looked out of her eyes and saw a monster. A horrible red monster sitting at a throne. If this was Chaos, she was very afraid. But why was she here? For what purpose did Chaos need her?

Johnny, instead of using weapons, decided a different approach to these manikins. He rushed one and slammed its head into the ground, shattering part of it. He threw the body of it into another, disabling it for the time being. Johnny grabbed an arm of one of the manikins and used it as a boomerang to disable several others.

'This is working just fine, and no emotions getting in the way,' he thought.

Zack slashed through another, it fell to the ground. he breathed, after a couple minutes they finished, he breathed.

"Yeesh." he said, he dissumoned his sword.

"Now that that's dealt with." he said breathing. he looked to the others.

"Are we just gonna head into chaos territory? I think we'll need a plan." Zack said.

-meanwhile-

Genesis heard a voice.

"Awaken my warrior." it said. th enext thing he knows, he slowly got up, infront of Chaos.

'So this is Chaos.' he thought in his mind.

"What is your name?" he aske,d Genesis sighed.

"Genesis, I come from Gaia." he said, the demon nodded.

"Like Sephiroth it seems." he said, Genesis stared at him.

"you know Sephiroth?" he asked, there was a young woman on the ground. she looked like the manikin Genesis killed.

Lightning dropped the weapons, grabbing Vicente by the collar. "I don't care about your war. I don't care about the gods. I'll send every one of these people to hell myself if it means saving Serah!" She eyed Dr. Cid behind the man.

 

"Tell me where Ultima is. I'm ending this war now." She addressed both of the men. She wouldn't run like Hope had. No more running...

These samples were exquisite. Sec examined the stone in his hand. Pure magicite. It glowed with an unearthly radiance, the man dropping it into a pouch tethered to his waist. These gems were a weak substitute for hearts, but they would do the job until he could prepare to execute his true plans.

 

He remained in the Lhusu Mines for a few more hours, collecting samples.

Ooc: Sorry I've been so busy guys. Now both my characters are alone.....I'm so SOL I'll just do my own thing fire for a bit I guess.

Rinoa hadn't been able to do anything as things escalated but she hasn't been able to say very much so.... She should probably try and find Ultima or mabye talk to the Goddess of Harmony and see what she could do help her and the others.

 

Rinoa looked to where Serah, Johnny, and Zack had been standing to find them gone and a black feather in their place. "Oh no! Is..... she here? I better look for her and make sure she doesn't hurt anyone... Rinoa drew out her wings and jumped out at the feather taking flight. She began to follow it determined to keep an eye out for her friends.

the monster chuckled.

"Yes... unfortunately he's not here at the moment." he said, Genesis sighed. the demon then looked to him.

"You were defeated... then I found you drifting through the lifestream of this world." he said, Genesis nodded.

"I think you...er"

"Chaos." Chaos said, he stood up, he looekd at Jaina.

"She's a pawn I found... seems my warriors don't like letting me know." he said, Genesis sighed.

"there's somethign you should know of them." he said, Chaos nodded.

"Tell me." he said.

{Dr Cid}

Dr Cid shook his head and marks Hope off as a possible ally. Lightning? Still to be decided.

"Finding Ultima is not like a child's tresure hunt." He says, incredulous that Lightning didn't get. "To find its hiding place, you need to get part of the description from each world. The information on its hiding place has been woven into each worlds legends."

He holds up a notebook.

"I have part of the the 'map,' but there are others I don't have."

He stares into Lightning's eye.

"If you help me find these legends, I can tell where Ultima is."

Dr Cid's eyes narrow.

"Now, what will you do with it?"

Did she trust him? No. But did she have anything else?

 

Lightning released Vicente, shoving him to the side. She stood slightly taller than the doctor, looking down on him. Was she still a warrior of Cosmos, was she now a pawn of Chaos... or something in-between? The thought burned along with the brand on her chest.

 

"Fine. I'll do it. Just tell me where to start..." Those words hurt her more than any blade possibly could.
