“Oh, where’d it go?” the girl said. She jumped up and looked around. “That guy in red took my shiny orb thingy!”

 

She ran/skipped down the path after him.

 

“You big meanie, give it back!”

 

The man turned around and gave her an icy glare.

 

“I’m not afraid of you!” she said, pulling out her Binding Rod. With it, she lassoed the Ultima out of his hands and tossed it to Lightning.

 

“Let’s get’em Light!” she cheered. ”I’ll show them that Oerba Dia Vanille’s not all flowers and sunshine!”

{Dr Cid}

Dr Cid smiles as he hears Genesis's information.

"Excellent." He says. "I'll be right there."

He hangs up. He picks up the orbs of Ultima he has.

"Show me the way." He tells them.

He travels toward Shinra Mansion. As he travels, he tries to discern the way using the vibrations of the orbs.

{Cloud}

Cloud summons his fusion swords. All six of them were fitted together into the complete blade. He points his sword toward Genesis.

"Not nice to follow people, Genesis." Cloud says. "You should really mind your own business."

Genesis looked at Cloud.

"I'm sorry, have we met?" he asked, Cloud thought for a moment.

"Oh yeah... you were the fool with mako poisoning, seems Zack did most of the work then huh?" he asked. Cloud looked down then slashed, Genesis immediatley dicked, then summoend his sword to block the next attack.

-meanwhile-

Zack nodded.

"Let's head out, I know where it is." he said, he formed a portal, they went through.

{Cloud}

Cloud strikes at Genesis a few times to sell the deception. He didn't care what this sorry excuse for a Sephiroth clone said. It was profitable for Genesis to think he had hit a nerve. Cloud kicks Genesis back. He ejects the hollow blade from his fusion sword and caught it in his left hand.

"Want to try that again." Cloud challenges, layering his voice with anger.

Genesis chuckled.

"Hehe, my quarel is not with you." he said, Lightning rolled her eyes.

"Now give the orb." he said. she slashed towards him, he immediately blocked with his sword.

"your a traitor to your cause, Chaos could of destroyed you, yet he gave you a gift... such a letdown." he said mockingly, she slashed towards him, he dissipeared in shadows and appeared at the entrance of the mansion.

"Careful Light." he said.

-mmeanwhile-

Zack and the others appeared in niebleheim, it looked just like it always did. he looked out.

"there's Genesis!" he yelled.

Her mind was burning. "Vanille!" That's right. She was Vanille! Back in one piece, Lightning grasped the piece of Ultima Vanille had given her, the orb vanishing. Genesis wouldn't get another one of these. She would sacrifice her life to be sure of that.

 

"There's Genesis!" Zack shouted behind them. This wasn't good. If they were all here, Cid would be here shortly as well. And the cavalry behind him.

 

"Vanille. Cloud. We have to run." She said gently, trying to keep her voice from Genesis' prying ears. "They'll be swarming the place in a minute. We have our piece; we're ahead. We should just cut our losses and go." It was true that a brave warrior never ran, but a warrior who was going to live knew where to draw the line.

Zack staired at Cloud.

"Cloud?" he asked. Cloud staired at him unexpectingly.

'It really is him.' he thought in his mind. Genesis looked at both of them.

"Aww, it's a reunion.' he said, he looked at lightning.

"Leaving so soon?" he asked.

“Run away, but that’s my line Lightning!” Vanille joked. ”Well, if you say so!”

 

Vanille wrapped the strings of her rod around Genesis, trapping him. She then jammed the rod into a nearby rock mound.

 

“Quick, while he’s restrained, make a break for it!”

Serah was floating through time and space when she heard her beloved’s voice.

 

There’s a boy, Zack. He holds something from my dear friend who has departed, Balthier. This holds a key to Ultima. Find Zack, and pay my respects for Balthier.

When Hope awoke, a girl dressed in blue was standing in front of him. She had wings of white feathers.

 

“Are you, Ultimecia?” he said.

Genesis looked around the binds, he sighed and immediatley cut through them with his sword.

"Oh really? are you that cowardly to just run away?" he asked. Vanille was about to go for her rofd, when Genesis im mediaately ppeared and kicked her down. he picked up the rod.

"what a piece of junk." he said, he snapped it in two. the pieces fell to the ground and dissipeared. Zack stared at Cloud then Genesis.

"Cloud, wait!" he called.

Johnny looked around at the village and the other warriors. He knew one, which was Cloud, but the other he'd never seen before. Light had said her name. Vanille? Whatever. More pressing matters where at hand before pleasantries could be passed around. Genesis was here, which meant Cid wasn't too far off. And more than likely, they had a few more shards than the rest.

"C'mon, let's get out of here. We'll be fighting a losing battle."

Vanille glared at Genesis.

 

"I'll show you who's boss! You're lucky my rod was the worse of my weapons," Vanille said. She Paradigm shifted into Sabeteur and stared Genesis down.

 

"IMPERIL! DEPROTECT! DESHELL! FOG! PAIN!" she shouted and cast the spells on Genesis.

 

"Lightning, go get him, now that he's weak!"

Lightning lunged towards him and slashed a couple times, he sighed and fell back, Vanille's magic was very powerful, he sighed, thne noticed her make a paradigm shift into a Ravager. she shot Ice magic towards him, he sliced through a shard, and then dissipeared for a moment, he re-appeared behind Vanille and slashed at her side, she fell to the ground in pain, he then pulled out an Elixer, and drank, his status problems were taken care of for the moment. he then looked at Lightning.

"I'm not even using an orb... C'mon." he said, guesturing his sword.

"DON'T YOU IGNORE ME!" Vanille shouted at Genesis.

 

Somehow, she materialized another rod in her hands. "FIRE, WATER, AERO, BLIZZARD, THUNDER!"

 

Genesis got blasted into a wall. Vanille took this moment to Paradigm Shift to Medic and use Cura.

 

"Orb, what did he mean about orb," she asked Lightning.

 

Genesis dove again. The sword narrowly missed Vanille's head. Vanille jumped to the left and recast her debuffs on Genesis. Genesis slashed his sword, and a red shockwave flew from it. Vanille was thrown into the air.

 

"Nobody's gonna get hurt this time!" she shouted. "DEATH!"

 

Powerful black magic swirled around Genesis like a tornado. Then all the magic focused in on one attack and Genesis took massive damage.

Genesis slowly got up, he had a wound on the side of his face, blood was dripping.

'I will not lose... to this harlet.' he said. Vanille squinted mad.

"did I hurt your feelings? L'cie?" he askes. he pulled his sword up. he then looked at her, Zack was speechless watching.

 

"My friend, the fates are cruel

Genesis recited, Vanille looked at him strangely. he pointed his hand at her and shot powerful fire magic, she fell to the ground. Genesis looked at the others, then spat.

 

"Nothing... shall forstall my return." he said, darkness appeared around him, he dissipeared from the area. Zack staired at where he once was, then looked at Vanille. He looked at the others.

 

"who the hell is she?" he asked.

"Oh, hiya, I'm Vanille," said Vanille. She picked herself up and dusted herself off. "It's VAH-NEE-UL, got it?"

 

She looked around. There were so many strange people, with weapons out of fairy tales. And that orb she gave Lightning, why'd everybody want it?

 

"Well, where are we?"

Johnny walked up to the new chick, "We're in Nibelheim, a quaint little town on a mountain." He reached out his hand to Vanille, "I'm Johnny, this is Jaina, and the guy in red here is Gilgamesh."

Gilgamesh looked at the girl's strange weapon. She had used to try and bind that man. Gil didn't normally take weapons that weren't swords, but he could make an exception. He walked up to the girl and asked, "Where'd ya get that weapon?"

Vanille smiled.

 

"This little thing? I made it myself! If you want one, I'm sure I could make you one sometime!"

 

She looked around.

 

"Nibelheim, wasn't there a castle here just a minute ago. It had gears falling all over the place. It fell down!"

 

She suddenly remembered.

 

"Lightning, Hope and Serah must be in the wreck!"

"Serah?" Lightning grabbed Vanille's shoulders, loosening her grip. "Sorry. I didn't mean to be so hard." She looked around to the others. This Gilgamesh wa a new arrival, but he didn't seem to be a threat. At least, not now. She turned abck to her fellow l'Cie.

 

"Vanille. Where are Hope and Serah? Where exactly were you before you came here?"

Gilgamesh was intrigued by the girl's proposition. A rare weapon made by an even rarer weaponsmaster. This was an offer he couldn't let up. Same with the keysword Johnny had promised him.

Johnny thought for a moment about where Hope and Serah could have been.

"I think I might know," Johnny said to Lightning. "Gears and castles can only mean one place. Ultimecia's castle."

Vanille looked at Johnny.

 

“That sounds about right, but wouldn’t it be Ultimecia’s Rubble now?” the girl joked. ”Hey, Lightning, could I speak to you alone?”

 

Vanille naively pulled Lightning to where she thought they were out of earshot of the others (they weren’t; the others could hear her).

 

“Lightning, I’m confused. I wound up here after we saved Cocoon, but I just wandered and battled crystallike monsters. Then I heard a really scary voice in my head, telling me something about discord. Then I can’t remember anything until a few minutes ago. But I know I felt rage that I don’t know where it came from.”

{Cloud}

Cloud was silent as the others talked. Zack was here, alive. That didn't make sense...

"Enough." Cloud mumbles to himself.

It was useless to think about the hows.

"Looks like we are mostly all here." He says so everybody can hear him. "How many piece of Ultima do we have?"

{Dr Cid}

Cid was making great time to the mansion. He was about to enter the mansion when he felt Genesis leave.

"How many are in there?" Cid asks Venat.

"Too many." Venat answers.

Dr Cid curses.

"We need to follow Genesis." He spat.

Venat's eyes glow as he teleports both of them to Genesis.

Genesis breathed.

"Doc... sorry." he said, Cid nodded. he looked out.

"Lightning has the orb." he said. Cid nodded, and grabbed some binoculars.

Zack sighed.

"Hm... we have... three." he said, forming his orb.

"And cosmos said we each have an orb, a piece within us, mine already appeared." Zack said holding his.

{Dr Cid}

"How many of Cosmos's pawns showed up?" Dr Cid inquires.

{Cloud}

Cloud replaces the hollow blade back onto the fusion sword, then dismissed it.

"Four" Cloud says, holding up the one he stole from the Emperor.

He puts the orb back in his pocket.

"So we all have a piece in us?" Cloud questions. "Good security plan."

"Saved Cocoon?" Unlike other memories, the words didn't stir anything up. Snow had said the same thing too. "Apparently, we're all pulled form different times. Zack is already dead in Cloud's time. And... " She sighed. "Serah's here. The last thing I remember from our world is Orphan's Cradle. We stepped through the gateway with the white halls, and..." She shifted uncomfortably.

 

"And the voice was Chaos, the God of Discord. He's manipulating you, trying to summon Ragnarok. Hope and I already ran into that problem with Barthandelus." She stopped, remembering what Vanille had said earlier. Claire's face twisted in confusion. "Wait. You said Serah and Hope were in the castle? That's not possible. He's..."

Zack sighed.

"Genesis and Cid have four, and not to mention two of those are from Chaos on Cosmos, so probably more powerful." Zack said sighing. he then looked at Cloud.

"It's been a long time... how have you been?" he asked.

-meanwhile-

Genesis breathed, they wer einside the mansion.

"Let's see... three... four, six pawns of cosmos." Genesis said sighing, he felt weak.

"One of them had strange L'cie magic." he said. they walked farther down into the mansion and reached the basement.

"this is where Sephiroth... where the nightmare began." he said. Cid looked to him, he walked over to a tank, it had something bright in it, Genesis immediatley punched his fist into it, Mako material went straight out the hole, he breathed, then pulled his hand out, a shiny yellow stone was in his hand. Cid smiled.

"Seems we have our next piece." he said.
