RoxSox 3,593 Posted May 23, 2011 We all know that Terra had the potential for darkness. That's why he was targeted by Xehanort. And we should all know that it was Terra who chose Riku for the keyblade... But, then Riku went dark just the same. Was Riku influenced by Terra? If it had been Aqua, or Ventus, who chose Riku for the keyblade, would RIku still go dark? Or was it because, Terra, he who already had the potential for evil, passed that on just the same along with the keyblade?
DarkmoonTenshi 22 Posted May 23, 2011 I think it was all Riku. I don't think anyone influenced his hunger for darkness. It just... happened.
Rob 5,571 Posted May 23, 2011 What does someone passing a keyblade have to do with someone going to the darkside? As you should know, it was Riku's choice. So I guess Xehanort somehow passed on the quote to Riku saying "this world is just too small," right? Also, their name is suppose to show a connection: Riku means land, Terra means Earth. deathrebirthsenshi 279 Posted May 23, 2011 Well, it is pretty uncanny that both Riku and Terra fell to the darkness, but they both fell for very different reasons. In the end, Terra was trying to do good, being tricked into doing some of the things he did. In the end, he gave in to his anger and darkness to defeat Xehanort. Riku, on the other hand, was a little power hungry. As I see it, finding Kairi's heart was really only an excuse; he wanted to become more powerful, and let Ansem posses him so that he would have enough power to defeat Sora. So really, I wouldn't say it was something Terra passed down. Although the similarities between Riku and Xehanort are just plain creepy.
Axtwyt 500 Posted May 23, 2011 It's all in your head. Riku went to the darkness for power and freedom. Terra kinda did it unknowingly at first, then just went along with it. Terra had absolutely nothing to do with Riku's fall into darkness.

What you said about Riku is true, though his motive for wanting power was to protect the things that mattered to him. Terra, I believe is the same way. He wants power, but, like Riku, to protect the the things that matter. On the main subject, I don't think that Terra's darkness effected Riku. I think they were just alike. Most likely that did influenced Terra's decision to pass the keyblade on.
Razorwind Keyblade 304 Posted May 23, 2011 I think it's all just Riku. If Aqua passed the power of the Keyblade to Riku do you thiunk he would go light? Riku was always meant to be a dark protaginists.
hatok 6,413 Posted May 24, 2011 Terra did have an effect on him. He talked about other worlds, making Riku want to see them, which started the whole thing in KH1.
Slicer9875 27 Posted May 26, 2011 I think Riku would have been discontent on Destiny ISlands no matter waht. What Terra said probably just confirmed what he already suspected and he made his own choices. Riku fell to the dark on his own just like Terra. While that's true, Riku would have sought the outside world anyway. He had heard stories of a boy who left the islands and became stronger (believed to be Xehanort). I dunno. It seems more likely that the weird looking guy who can summon a key sword with data spirals, who recited a strange ritual and swearing you to secrecy before never appearing again would have more impact on him than a rumour. I agree. I'm just saying that Riku most likely wanted to leave the islands before Terra showed up and probably still would have even if Terra had never come. Riku was already interested in the outside world. Seeing Terra made him interested even more.
