KH2 The way to dawn - how riku got it (theory)

Recommended Posts

Hi i believe that somewhere near the end of KH2, but before the events at the world that never was. Riku wandered through the realm of darkness and met aqua! That would explain how he got the way of dawn as it probably could have been aqua whom through talk or something awakened something inside riku which caused him to his keyblade! That would also explain why riku got his hands on the destinys embrace (the keyblade he gave to kairi) Discuss!

...This is definitely not how he got it. Terra is the one who awakened Riku's ability to use the Keyblade when he was just a kid, not Aqua. And why would Riku be in the Realm of Darkness, anyways?

What they said. Also, why would Riku be in the realm of darkness and not mention meeting a fellow keyblade wielder to anyone? Same goes for Mickey.

^ That, and I'm sure he would have taken Aqua with him if he found her.

While Riku was shown to be in the Realm of Darkness in KHII (when he gave Sora and company the box with the picture and ice cream), he definitely did not run into Aqua.

I'm not sure, but Riku seemed to have gotten it somewhere in the middle of Kingdom Hearts 2. At the beginning in the fake twilight town, it looked like he was still using his soul eater, though I wasn't sure. And I found it weird that at the skyscraper battle against Roxas, he never even used his own weapon. But yeah, Riku was doing some behind the scenes work in the other worlds and in the realm of darkness, it seems, so it probably has something to do with that. Probably will be in BBS Volume II or whatever it will be called whenever it comes out.

He got it sometime between Land of Dragons visit two, and The World That Never Was, as the last time he's seen using Soul Eater is the second visit to Land of Dragons, where you're facing him and the Heartless. After that, you don't see him fight again until The World That Never Was, when he has Way to Dawn.

I thought he got it shortly after he duel Roxas and lost his physical form and took on the appearance of ANSem SOD. ISn't that what ANsem says, that giving up so much more for his friend, he obtained a keyblade of his own because of the strength of his heart and sacrifice. iN the Land of Dragons, didn't XIgbar hold the blade instead, not Riku? I don't think that they actually met until The World that Never Was.

No, Xigbar only uses the guns. It is Riku you face in LoD, it's just he leaves and Sora thinks Xigbar is Riku. He doesn't get it until after LoD.

Mickey didn't mention a huge battle between him and five other keyblade wielders ten years ago. He forgot about Ansem. And Xehanort for that matter. Also, Mickey and Riku both don't appear for very long until the end of KH2. Throughout then they're doing ambiguous things in the background. It's entirely possible they meant to tell Sora, but got caught up in the final battle and forgot.

In fact, if I were Riku, I'd be so relieved to be back home with my friends after all he's been through I'd probably not try very hard to remember some random person met a year ago.

Also, keep in mind the average memory span of a KH character:

"Let's get going. To... where again?"

"We've got to board the train!"

"Oh yeah!"

( This is an ad-lib :/ )

Yes, I know, but the situation is different from Terra and Aqua meeting Sora and Riku at the age of 4 and 5 to a 16 year old Riku and Mickey meeting Aqua, then leaving her there to fight for herself in the realm of darkness when he was in there with Sora before leaving(they had a lot to talk about). I don't see how they could have forgot her. Plus, I'm sure Aqua would have knew something about the worlds being in trouble and who's saving it if she met Riku and Mickey for at least 5 minutes without Ansem telling her.

i looove your theory!!! When terra gave to riku the ability he lost it because his heartw wasn't strong enough and the power went to sora. Then when riku was in the ROD he met aqua and she casted a spell on him and then he could use the way to down. But then if riku met aqua why didnt he save her??? And why didnt he mention it to sora?

Because there is a 95% chance that it did not happen. Read other people's posts too, would ya? Not just the first?
