All but one person was actually in the room, since someone skipped breakfast to wait in the Battle Room. Which should be self-explanatory who it might be. Bani was first to finish her food, lazily leaning on the back of her seat and awaiting everyone else to finish. She finally laid eyes on Kat, giving her a dull stare. "Good luck." She said dryly, though not kindly. Her tone dark, she continued. "...You're gonna need it."

 

~Bel straightened up his knives, polishing them to perfection while humming a deadly tune to himself. It's been a while since a proper one on one battle with someone. And the fun part was that he had an advantage, making it a 90 percent possible victory for him. Waiting for the others was a pain, but it'd be worth it.

Kat glanced at Bani, nodding as she slipped on her fingerless gloves again. Xanxus' crimson eyes followed the motion carefully, analyzing the fabric. He still couldn't believe he had seen this girl summon almost exact replicas of the gloves that had destroyed him at the Varia Ring Battle. He didn't like the idea of her learning the full power of those gloves either. Kat sighed combing her fingers through her hair before heading in the direction of the Battle Area. She could see Belphegor in the distance across the floor.

 

"Hey."

 

Squalo followed after her with the others as always and growled dangerously at bel as he passed him, his eyes narrowed to darken his eyes marvelously.

 

"Don't do anything stupid brat." He muttered before going to his viewing station.

Bel simply grinned at Squalo's remark. "Shishi. I make no promises." He went back to finishing up his knives, finally standing up and giving a brief stretch before putting his arms behind his head. He turned to Kat, who looked nervous to say the least. "Shall we start~?"

 

Mammon narrowed his eyes. Bel had that 'you'll be lucky if you live through this' look. And he didn't trust him. One reckless move, and she'll be sliced into a million pieces or shredded to bits. This couldn't end well.

"Of course I'm ready." Kat responded, clenching her fists tightly. She focused on gathering the energy within the palms of her hands like yesterday and swallowed. She was nervous, no doubt about it, but she knew why she had to do this time. Focus only on the battle, not the impression she was making. And she also had to figure out how to have enough time to light her gloves. Last night she deterred that it needed the utmost concentration of just a few moments. That or quite a large feeling of desperation to not die. She just hope that the opportunity present her self in these terms. But it was unlikely. Especially with how swift Bel seemed to move. She could only pray.

 

Squalo watched as they took their positions and nudge Levi who was deep in thought. The darker male only snickered.

 

"She should get in just for surviving this. If she survives anyway."

Bel and Kat just stared at each other for a while, making him quite impatient. He realized she was finding he strategy, but she should be figuring that out when they were fighting to develop a style. He was the first to say something. "Are you gonna come at me?" He asked, questioning whether she was really ready or not. "I wanna see what you can do." With that, he licked his lips in a sadistic manner, showing his raw excitement of the fight.

Kat blinked, slightly riled by Bel's comment. She needed concentration to actually summon the gloves in the first place. A moment of silence was all she asked for. Ignoring him momentarily, she slid her eyes shut. The heat grew more intense in her hand as she spoke cooly, doing he best to block out the break in her concentration due to his voice. She looked at Bel after a few more minutes and frowned.

 

"What? To afraid to make the first move?" Squalo heard Levi whistle. Taunting Bel wasn't the smartest move to make in a battle.

((Sorry. I forgot to put it at the bottom. My answer is proooobably not likely. Especially since she's only at the point where she develops strong flames when she's about to die. Lol.))

 

Bel wasn't phased by her comment in the least. He knew he could win this. "Muzukashii ne~" (Hardly~) Bel replied, making a small movement of his fingers (hardly noticable from his position), making a wire thinly cut her cheek, some blood trickling down her face. It was almost too easy. His invisible weapons were definitely of advantage.

 

"Ushishi."

Kat's eyes widened slightly as cool liquid dripped down her cheek from a cut that she otherwise wouldn't have noticed. He had hardly moved though. So how..? She reached up to touch the small slice, just to make sure she wasn't imagining things. Yet when she pulled her hand away there it was. Red liquid staining her fingertips. The blind glanced at Bel in utter shock.

 

"H-How..?" Squalo scoffed. The brat was already using his mind-firetruckery on her. No surprise there. But perhaps Bel's intentions weren't on playing. Hopefully the blond prince had the goal of bringing out more spark in the girl instead of fear and more blood to be spilt. Kat, still a bit jostled from the near impossible to perform cut, backed up just a bit, eyes scanning her surroundings. Nothing. Nothing there to support any reasoning that something had definitely cut her. Bel had barely snapped his fingers. What on Earth was going on? Shaking her head, she tried again sweat gathering now from the intensity burning on her hands. If she could just manage to get the damn gloves to appear then maybe, just maybe, she could actually begin worrying about whatever trickery that was being used on her.

She was already baffled by his tricks... This was going well. "Surprised?" He asked, spinning a knife between his fingers. He flinged it skillfully, cutting along the base of her jawline. With more knives between his fingers, he was well-prepared indeed.

 

"If I were you, I wouldn't move." He suggested with a chuckle, tossing his knives, and making thin cuts around her, but not serious injuries. His weapons landed on the wall behind her, each of them in a different place.

Kat was in complete bafflement as more non life-threatening cuts where made, splitting the delicate flesh. As much as she distasted this she wasn't going to listen to him though. Don't move? Was he serious about such a request? How could he even fathom that when she was getting injured like this she wouldn't try to get out of the area. Rolling her eyes, she made a move to start running to the left but halted when more mysterious cuts appeared. Same for running to th right, forward, and backwards. What ha he done? She was glancing around frequently trying to see the catch in his technique. No such luck. Her will only grew though. She had the sense to know that much in terms of focusing and whatnot.

 

Despite it being just a few minute in, Squalo was already semi-interested with her technique. Or attempt at one anyway. She was building up power. Which was a good idea but the time factor alone was to much for her to just sit there and not make any movement or attempts to dodge. If this kept on going Be'd win for sure...

 

"She's still inexperienced."

Bel was disappointed. Didn't she ever listen? When a skilled assassin told you not to move, why would you firetrucking move? He made a small 'mm' of displeasure, as if he were resisting or mocking her defiance. "It disappoints me that you blatantly mocked me before, but your pride went to waste..." He grinned even wider. "No matter." He seperated his hands, a line of knives neatly positioned between them. They appeared to be floating in mid-air. "Little girls like you should learn not to be so hasty." Clearly amused, he spread out his hands wider, the assembly of blades growing bigger and much more intimidating.

Kat stilled at the sight of those knives, blinking repeatedly. There was no way that was possible. Knives didn't just float and things didn't just magically cut you. There had to be some trick to it. Trying not to hyperventilate at the thought of all those blades coming straight at her, she gulped, starting to feel desperate all over again. She didn't want to die, she didn't want to die, I don't want to die.

 

Squalo narrowed his eyes dangerously at Bel and the knives dancing like lethal fairies all around him, his scowl deepening with every passing moment. He wanted to say something but as an onlookers he wasn't allowed. It'd be considered an interference of the sort. Even so. He had warned the stubborn prince-so hopefully, if by some chance Kat survived this, he didn't go all out like he had with that bomb kid. Hayato Gokudera he thought it was....

 

Kat was shaking at this point when her gloves finally appeared on her spasming hands, relief almost flooding through her veins. But even still, as she tried to move and get out of the way, she couldn't get out of range of the knives to buy herself time. She was going to die here via sharp, point objects.

Bel frowned. He at least wanted her to fight back. Sure, he liked his prey helpless, but she was too helpless for her own good. He had already set up his trap though, so there wasn't any backing out now... And he really wanted to win. So he would. "You make for a boring show." He sighed. Disappointed, Bel was hoping for some struggling or even some effort to actually fight him. "Killing you would be pointless... Doesn't mean I'm not still gonna win this." He threw his knives, this time aiming to cut a little deeper and to draw more blood. She'd be passing out of blood loss pretty soon.

Kat bit her lip, the knives coming straight at her. And they were aimed to cut deep. Reflexively she placed her hands in front of her body to defend herself, thoughts racing through her mind. She would lose. She'd lose and she would be hurt even more in the process. She couldn't afford to be hurt more with upcoming battles following this the next day. Don't let this happen. C'mon girl you can do this! Kat anticipated the injuries, she really did but when the knives points only pressed ever so slightly into her gloves, not even ripping that fabric, she was appalled. And when she looked she knew why. Her Hail flames had come forth, finally, and had halted the sharp utensils. She wasn't sure how to use them but she had done it.

 

Squalo couldn't help but shake his head and laugh slightly. This girl was sitting down, not using her potential that they he knew she had, and yet she had just blocked what would have been a fatal attack. Whether it was an accident or not it was a bit unbelievable in the way that made Squalo want to laugh. She ws getting it. But not fast enough.

 

"Good God she's a tough bitch isn't she?" Levi muttered, obviously not wanting to believe this match would be even longer now.

Unimpressed, and actually more relieved, he set up his weapon some more. Although that prooobably wasn't the best idea and she should've just let herself get knocked out. Why? Because now that she had shown Bel that she could fight, he'd have more of a drive to kill her. "Ahh, I see you're catching on~" He praised, his voice taking on that low and deadly octive that meant certain death was afoot. "Then allow me." He glanced around before, with barely a flick of his wrist, he had set up his most deadly attack. As a circle of knives appeared around her, literally hundreds of them set to kill, Bel couldn't help but purr in content. His insanity was showing.

 

"Aren't they pretty~?" He boasted, having them point towards her, his flurry of weapons ready to be used.

 

Bani, a spectator, was surprised with how... Weird this was getting. Bel was making one of those faces and using one of those voices that led her to believe that he could really kill her now. She was so firetrucking glad she didn't have to fight this kook to get in. She would've gotten her ass kicked for sure. She sighed. "Tough, but it wasthe wrong time to let it show. It was one of those rare moments where he wasn't feeling up to killing, and now she's gonna regret it..."

 

"Yeah," Mammon agreed quietly, though he didn't want to believe she was gonna lose at this rate. "If she's only able to catch what's in front of her... Her dexterity isn't great enough to catch those at her blind spots..."

Squalo gave a nod.

 

"She should have just gave the surrender. That way she wouldn't have to suffer so much. She hardly knows how to use those things yet..." He drifted off, cringing at how the knives glittered around her. Now he wasn't one to intervene but he had warned Bel not to kill her so hastily. Even if it dawned upon him that she'd have to beat the others, like Mammon and himself (which was unlikely) the blond girl didn't deserve to die so quickly. Was Squalo showing sympathy? Oh no, just trying to give a valid point really. He didn't care one bit about her singular well-being. Just the overall well-being of the Varia.

 

Kat scanned the area quickly. She had to get out of that area. She was completely surrounded by knives and if she couldn't find a gap she'd be skewered. That or if she could find a counter-attack that'd be great. As her mind raced, she caught sight of the other member and tried to see their reactions. They all seemed to look grim. Clearly this attack was meant to kill her. She gulped. If the flames were strong enough to deflect the knives directly and seemed to move with her hands she had to wonder. She looked around at the knives surrounding her in a full circle. It..it'd be a risky move to try and pull, especially since she didn't know if this would work but she had to try something.

 

Keeping her cool and hiding her anxiety from the fact that if this went wrong she'd die, she met what she could guess was Bel's gaze (damn fringe) and spoke in response, attempting to make the flames a bit denser.

 

"Pretty? More deadly than attractive to be honest."

Bel barely changed in expression. "Same thing." He replied, giving forth a small hand movement, as if he were waving, to begin his final attack. He chuckled as his weapons glittered, making them look simply beautiful in his opinion. They darted towards her, and Bel watched in amusement. "Ushishi..." She'll be lucky if she makes it out of this, but Bel doubted she would win even if she managed to dodge some of them. With the speed they were going, you'd either get very badly injured or you'd die. "Bye-bye."

 

Bani waited to see the result of the battle, with Bel basking in his pride, Mammon in his worry and Kat in her fear.

Kat braced herself and quickly spun around, the flames beginning to encircle her like a barrier of protection. She was pleased to find that they held up against the knives and deflected most of them.

 

"Holy crap that actually worked." She muttered, not expecting it to actually have any effect. A few knives had managed to scrabe her, but nothing critical or life ending. She gave a slight smile as the flames died down. She was finally getting somewhere with this. Good. Now if she could use offensive attacks that'd be great. Squalo blinked and Levi seemed taken aback completely, in disbelief. How exactly had that runt done that?

 

"Boss..."

 

"I know." Squalo spared him a glance. "It's similar to Sawada." The silver haired man couldn't decide if Xanxus was mad or amused by this.

((Just so you know, Bel still has to win. I did that last move to finish it, so I really don't know what else to do...))

 

Bel gave an impatient growl, muttering 'firetruck' under his breath. He let out a low 'feh,' frowning in slight irritance. "I refuse to lose," He persisted, being blunt and drawing in his wires to cut her more deeply. They were invisible and he knew she couldn't see them, so it was the only technique he could rely on. His cutting mechanism was supposed to be flawless.

 

Bani felt her eyes narrow. "What a joke."

((Well I kind of hinted throughout my posts she was going to do something so maybe you should have planned a back up just in case. Bel has other moves, I don't think it'll kill you to use them. Besides, weren't you saying she needed to do something to advance her talent? I wasn't gonna make her sit there and do nothing.))

 

Kat flinched as sharp pain dug deeper into her skin and she looked down incredulously. How was this happening and why? This is bad...She thought quickly, her head already growing a bit dizzier as blood slid from her wounds like careless fountains. Looking around, Kat could have sworn she had seen a few glimmers but knives couldn't travel that fast and Bel had hardly flinched. What was she supposed to do? She only had enough arm room to do a few things and even still she cut. She could have cried to be truthful.

 

Levi glanced down at Bani, whirling an eyebrow.

 

"A joke?"

((=\ Yeah I know. I knew she'd at least further her power, but I didn't expect this much. Stopping the knives was one thing that I expected. What else does he have besides Mink? Visone Tempesta would be cheating, so I tried to stay away from using box animals and what not. I don't know what my backup would be since all of his moves are pretty much the same, and if she figured it out, Bel would be screwed... I didn't mean for you to get mad at me.))

 

Bel almost let out a sigh of relief. He sort of had this problem where if he didn't win a battle, he'd get really testy. If he sees that he's losing a fight, he flees. But it's not like he could've retreated in a battle like this one. So his grin returned, gladly waiting for her to either die or get left unconscious. All went better than expected. "Hurts, right?" He taunted, cutting just a bit deeper. He just wanted to call it a day; he won, that's that.

 

Bani nodded slowly. "It's just a ripoff of Tsuna's technique."
