Sorry if there's already a thread for this, but what do you think Kairi's role should become? As of now, she's sort of fading into the background, and losing her standings as a main character. I'm sure Nomura has something planned for her, but what do you want that to be? Do you think she should (if possible) pick up Destiny's Embrace and join the good fight? Should she maybe strengthen her Princess of Heart powers? Or will she attain Namin

as much as i hate her,I do agree that Kairi really needs to do more,it's better she does something stupid and we hate her than just fade away as that girl that Sora could have liked.

I say in the next time we see her,have a more punk kind of attitude and let her join the battle,not as girly glitter and too short skirts*that's over in FF * Inside of swinging a keyblade twice and then hiding behind Riku then glomping Sora,let's let her have times were she charges into battle and kicks a whole boss battle worth of heartless,ever since Larxene died,we lacked a kickass girl.

I like Kairi and I was pretty annoyed that there was no Kairi in Kingdom Hearts Coded, except for one scene in a memory.

She does need to do more. To me, she should have a lot more power now since she now has Namine, who was made up of Sora's body as well as Kairi's. She also has her keyblade and heartless shouldn't be a problem if she used her light powers in an offence manor, but to me I would link her to Orihime from Bleach. Where she isn't a very offencive person, but yet very powerful and it is these powers and her link to the hero that makes her a prime subject for kidnapping.

i honestly think its gonna stay that way. i have a feeling we wont even see her much in KH3. from the secret ending in BBS, sora tells kairi the worlds need him cuz they're all connected & he wouldnt be him without them. it seems to be kairi is just gonna be left at the island waiting again..

While I doubt she would be as good as the other Keyblade wielders, Kairi needs to become a more of a fighter. I think that it would be cool if she used her abilities as a Princess of Heart against the Heartless. DenizenofTwilight, your idea of Kairi using Namine's special abilities would be interesting.

 

I just hope she gets a new Keyblade. Destiny's Embrace isn't my favorite.

I do think she will regain some momentum even if shes not experienced enough to take the Mark of Mastery. Some good reasons are

 

1. Nomura said he wants more romance between Sora and Kairi in the future.

 

and

 

2. In KHII if you talk to her before enter the final battles she says "Don't tell me 'It's to dangerous". I'm going. From now on wherever one of us goes the other follows. Got it?"

 

And some personal reasons are

 

1. The classic Disney romance/save the Princess story was what I loved about the FIRST KH. (But not enough emotion to justify the 2nd time)

 

2. I am gonna be so PISSED if those two don't kiss by the end of KH3. What's the big deal Disney couples ALWAYS kiss at the end of the movies anyway.

 

3. In the closing FMV in KH Sora shouted something we couldn't hear to Kairi. I think it was "Kairi...I love you.

Hmm, I agree with the others, she would not be able to do much. Plus she can't technically wield the keyblade [well she can't summon it anyways] as well as fightning with the others, Sora probably wouldn't allow her to get hurt since I also have a feeling things are gonna get tougher coming to a close of the Xahanort saga and no offence but she wouldn't have the fighting skills the other Keybladers have. Although I have a feeling she will somehow worm her way into a part in the next KH [KH3 im talking about]. We don't really see her much anymore...

I don't know about the KH future but it would be better off if everyone stayed friends to keep all pairing fans happy, maybe she might learn to use the keyblade more

Hmmm well i know that she will not be powerful as sora, but i got a feeling that some how she is gonna do this huge power of light am guessing and then she will kick butt! and ill be eating popcorn watching them kill the mark of mastery

lol, maybe what nomura meant by "you will not grow with sora, but another character" is that after everything sora and riku do, kairi will pass the mark of mastery after saving them both roflmao, just kiddin, we'll see what he has in store for kairi, i'm sure it'll be good.

I would definitely love it if Kairi became a fully developed Keyblade wielder and character like Aqua. It would make the game series so much better and less sexist in my opinion.

 

I don't understand why people hate her so much. I've loved her from the beginning even when she didn't get involved in the action like Aqua or Xion. I really like Kairi and my liking for her increases over time because I want Kairi to do something as memorable or as cool as Sora instead of being the distressed damsel. If Kairi became as superhuman and full-fledged as Sora and Riku, it would be freaking badass and I'll love her all the more for it.

Nomura never said that.

 

The only slightly arguable thing to go against her becoming a wielder is the "strength of her heart;" if she has the strength of heart, there should be nothing holding her back.

 

As far as I know, strength of heart is determined by things such as how much you want to protect your friends, and could be shown by urging off dark temtations. In kh2 Axel admits to kairi that "you have a lot of guts, jumping into the darkness like that," if that isn't strength of heart what is; also, if we compare this to Olette who when kairi is being dragged away by axel, she just panics just panics, we can see that kairi is definately stronger than the average person.

 

Of all the games in the kh series the whole Roxas being in the jornal but not kairi is the absolute most infuriating plot whole in the series. There's no way this was due to Kair's new role (or absence of one) in the series; because of this game's place in the series and platform, I can see how they were sloppy with the plot.

tutti frutti. Actually, I do think that Kairi should be more in the front lines in terms of being a Keyblade wielder AND main character. And for a couple of those that did point this out, I kind of agree with you about the sexist part. To me, more so for KH characters, it seems that there are more male characters than female. Although I liked being able to actually play female character in BBS for the main story, I liked it overall. The only time I can think of playing another female character in KH in general is in KHDays for multiplayer for Larxene and Xion(if you want to count her as a female is your choice). I wouldn't mind seeing Kairi using the Keyblade more and maybe using more of her powers from being a Princess of Heart, assuming if she has detailed abilties in that department. But maybe Nomura will put more screen time for her in the future.

Im very sure that Kairi doesnt be on background on future games.She may be at the start on islands but its imbossible that here doesnt happen something that she must leave.I want so badly that she have some useful powers on battle because i dont want to drag her around the worlds that shes as useful as pencil :DD

I think that Kairi is not a true Keyblade wielder and is non-essetional to anything that has to do with a Keyblade. As for her future she may be kidnapped again like in KH1&2.

I definitely believe Kairi needs to get in on the action. By no means should they make her out of the blue amazing at fighting but at least a basic knowledge would suffice. I think that in order for her to grow and for her friendships with Sora and Riku to develop she needs to be out there with them. I have a few speculations as to what her ultimate role will be, though.

Speculations:

 

1.) I somehow believe that Kairi may be used like Ventus was in opening Kingdom Hearts because of the purity of her heart. I actually think this would be very gripping story wise and would add a lot more importance to her character.

 

2.) I can't shake the feeling that Sora won't pass his mark of mastery test for some reason. Ultimately, I think he'll have his own brush with darkness in order to develop his character a bit more as well. Point being, if this were to happen, Kairi would need to act as an anchor for him...keeping him grounded and surrounding him with light.

 

3.) Personally, if a Sokai romance isn't developing or developed by KH3 I'll be disappointed. Despite that aspect of the game not being vital, I think that with the characters growing up it's only natural for this to happen. Regardless of whether or not you support the couple, there have been way too many signs pointing in that direction to leave us without some sort of resolution with that. So I guess to sum up this last speculation is that I believe if Kairi is to have an ultimate role, it's as a love interest.

 

 

 

Again, all speculation...nothing that I even expect to be in the upcoming game but just nice to muse on anyways. I love Kairi as a character and I just want to see her used more!!

LOL I just thought of something else! Anyone notice that Kairi puts her hands in fists a lot in KH2? Maybe she'll become a Martial Artist like Tifa!

 

I'm kidding (mostly), but I have read a cool fic where Kairi was a fist fighter. Anyway, I love Kairi. I have since day one, and I've been glad to read all of your thoughts. Honestly, I hope she does join the fight. I don't see what the big hold up is. Aerith, Rinoa (pre becoming a Sorceress), Garnet, Yuna (FFX), and technically Penelo and Vanille really weren't fighters by any means. If needed, they could make Kairi a White Mage or something, but there's no reason to keep her out of the fights altogether. Especially since I feel KH3 might actually be Final Fantasy-ish with multiple characters you can play (though I doubt it'll be turn based).

 

I really want to see Kairi as a Keyblade wielder. Maybe a defensive one. I think that'd work for her character. She could act like Aqua did against Vanitas and Xehanort in the BbS cutscene "Kingdom Hearts". Anyone else notice Aqua didn't fight as much as she looked out for Terra and Ven in that fight? I think that role would be perfect for Kairi! She did try to defend Heartless Sora from the Heartless in KH1
