J. Severe 1,137 Posted February 21, 2011 Yeah, I'm kind of late on this news. Anyway, have you ever been annoyed by the Kingdom Hearts games on the Nintendo DS? Not because of the graphics, or recycled worlds, but because the DS lacks the analog stick of which all the other KH games seem to have. Well, be annoyed no more! Nintendo's newest handheld, the Nintendo 3DS, has backwards compatibility with DS games, and a fancy new circle pad -- another name for the system's analog stick. What does this mean? Well, turns out that the circle pad works JUST like a D-pad, or the directional buttons as some call them. That means when you play 358/2 Days or Re:coded on the 3DS, you'll be able to use the circle pad to control them! This will make the DS Kingdom Hearts and many other RPGs for the Nintendo DS feel natural when played on the new system. So, what do you guys think? Sure, it's only one pad whereas KH1, 2, and Re:CoM had two on the PS2 controller, but hey, now Days and Re:coded are more related to BBS on the one stick thing. So leave your comments below! ::Heart_XIII:: 2 Posted February 21, 2011 Oh god, I am so happy that we'll be able to use an analog stick. I absolutely hate having to use the D-pad the whole time. Makes my hand cramp up. D=

Keyblader 325 Posted February 21, 2011 If it is true that it will replace the function of the D-Pad in older DS games then sweet, that would make my day, but I'm not getting my hopes up, it's like with how if you play a GBA game on your DS or DS Lite the X and Y buttons have no use, so I'm not sure how this will turn out, because if i recall correctly, there is still a D-Pad on the 3DS. NumberXIII.Roxas 64 Posted February 21, 2011 That depends if it even works. It doesn't always work with analog. An example is Final Fantasy VII. You play with the D-Pad, but it doesn't have Analog compatibility. So I wouldn't count on being able to with KH, seeing as they most likely don't have Analog support. Rob 5,571 Posted February 21, 2011 Just because it's backward compatible doesn't mean the analog stick would work for the old DS games.
khkyle 2 Posted February 21, 2011 ya this is cool but they shrink the screen so there a re two black lines on the bottom so thats going to suck that the analog isn't
J. Severe 1,137 Posted February 21, 2011 I see. Looks like we have some doubters here. Well, the analog stick thing works with Pokemon. Skip to 2:30.

DragonMaster 1,166 Posted February 21, 2011 The Circle Pad can, in fact, be used on DS games. However, games do not gain analog functionality. The 8 directions of the D-Pad have been mapped to the Circle Pad for DS games. You will not have 360 degree movement or pressure sensitivity, but it will be a heck of a lot more comfortable.
