hatok 6,413 Posted February 4, 2011 Hm... well Sly has nearly 3 million sales over those 3 games (2,954,000) KH1 2 and CoM (Couldn't find sales for Re:CoM) sold just over 8 million (8,050,000) But the problem is, the sales don't add up to the games actual value. My local EB Games DOES still receive new copies of KH. This in itself proves the games are profitable enough to still be published. Compare this to the Sly games which now sell for 4.99 and can only be found used. Never mind that KH games have a much higher budget, allowing for things like CG, and an all star voice cast. A KH1 remake in particular would be expensive, the Tarzan world would have to be replaced (Or removed I suppose), and many characters would have t have their voices changed to their current voice actors. Actors that have been dropped would have to be taken out of KH2 (So no Christopher Lee for DiZ) And there's also a matter of first impressions. This would be the first KH in HD, and many people would base their opinions on it. I would be satisfied with a straight port and an HD filter. But unless Square pulls all the stops, creating full new models for everything, and adding the content from Final Mix, it would probably attract negative attention. There are enough people complaining about how every KH is a 'rehash' can you imagine how they'd react to an actual rehash? And Square has never been the kind of company to just apply an HD filter. They've always been a graphical tour de force. They'd want to show off their latest and greatest techniques, and this is a big problem for a budget title. So it's got a lot of problems, all of them take rot in the budget.
