Noctis stared after him for a long moment, about to open his mouth and give his refusal- but, then again, he was curious. If there was a reason, a chance at permanently ending the conflict, then maybe- just maybe- it might be worth a shot.

At the very least, it might offer an advantage.

"I don't consider beating on anyone from either side "better", so I suppose since I lack that ridiculous bloodlust, I... might as well."

He still held a lot of reluctance, in his expression, in his tone, but nonetheless, he trudged after Dysley, dragging his feet.

Dysley raises his index finger, pointing at a faraway town. "We depart to that town in the distance." he said. Dysley walked, without saying a word. After a few minutes, he decided to pick-up some conversation with Noctis. "Is this your first time?"

Vayne watches them walk off.

" Maybe i wont have to do anything" Vayne thought,

"If they want to do everything thats fine by me. I just need to be there to take the answer from them."

Noctis trailed along, barely keeping pace with Dysley- trying to appear reluctant, even if it was a stupid idea. Even after the older man spoke, it took him a long pause until he picked his gaze up from his own feet, drifting lazily up to meet Dysley's. He swallowed hard, and buried his hands in his pockets.

"Second, actually," he said, voice a little hoarse. "First time... on this side."

Biting his lip, he continued; "...And you?"

Dysley paused for a moment, he seemed intrigued by Noctis answer. "You remember...?" He decided to stop for a brief moment and ask with black hair a quick question "Haven't you asked yourself why you're on our side?" But the question turned deeper... "Haven't you asked yourself 'why are we more than Cosmos' warriors?'?" Dysley said, as he slowly drowned in thought...

"I don't remember much. Flashes here and there, mostly trivial, I..." Noctis fought back the shame in his expression, but it leaked into his voice all too easily."I can't remember the outcome, what happened to me, I... just draw a complete blank whenever I try."

And then he pushed down the brief emotional burst, staring steadily back at Dysley."I don't have any answers no matter how much I question it, so whats the point?" He was treading dangerous water, lying blatantly- the words sounded awfully fake, but perhaps he was just being overcautious. Still, he changed tack, moving onto the truth- better that than being paranoid."Trust me, there's nothing I'd like more than to return to Cosmos. But, for some damn reason, whenever I try to, I... Something stops me. It's impossible to leave and I don't know why."

"Garland once lectured me about the 'Cycle of Battle'." Dysley said, almost as a monologue, seeing as now he was gazing upwards, almost swiped away by the memory. "As it sounds, it is that, a cycle. You cannot break it..." He retold, but afterwards, he showed a big smirk. "...But it can be tampered with!" he said, in a rather happy tone, almost strange coming from a man like Galenth Dysley, Lord Sovereign of a group of entities that manipulate human beings for a living.

"But going back on topic..." said Dysley as he walked around Noctis. "How would you feel about a conspiracy between Gods?" Dysley was anxious for an answer, it looked like he had something in mind, something big, to be more specific.

"Conspiracy...?" Noctis, unsure of how to respond, returned his gaze to his own feet, expression filled with uncertainty. For a moment, he tried to think, allowing his dark bangs to fall over his face; but it was pointless. No part of his mind was offering to help out with this, annoyingly enough.

"I- I don't quite..." he began, and then mumbled the "understand", urging himself to shake out of it and say something substantial- something that DIDN'T make him sound like a stupid child... "...what you mean."

"Hmph, as expected." he said, disappointed. "We're at a loss of a warrior. Mateus, the Emperor, was condemned for messing with the cycle." said Dysley. "He messed with it so, that he was eliminated from existence... Literally." he looked at the deep, blue sky and continued... "He defied the laws of the Gods, breaking the cycle, creating an unbalanced realm, harming harmony and damaging discord." he said, in a rather poetic way.

"This aside, we were at a loss, so they filled us with you, a Cosmos Warrior. Afterward, Cosmos powered her warriors so they would be a match against fourteen villainous entities." he said in a tone that suggested he wanted to finish the dialogue. "That's their definition of balance, it is not balance."

"But I- I didn't want-"

It burst out before Noctis could quite stop it- his voice cracked, but he swallowed the rest of the statement. Fists balled at his sides, he fought with a dozen equally childish, whiny responses, attempting desperately to find something worth saying. Something that didn't make him sound like a brat.

"...That's just... messed up. Why bother?! Why couldn't Chaos have just given more power to all of you-?! Instead of making me...!"

This is.... One of the many conspiracies in this war. Galenth Dysley said, thinking if he could share more information with Noctis. He was beginning to wonder if he could have *another* partner in crime... Noctis? With an empty tone, he said. There's a conspiracy afoot, one that will unravel inside the very forces of Cosmos, altering the balance, *her* balance... Noctis stared appraisingly at the older man, dark eyes guarded. "A conspiracy that screws with Cosmos," he reiterated, voice a careful monotone- he'd finally succeeded in controlling it. He knew, logically, he shouldn't have wanted that- he was supposed to be a man of Cosmos, he'd been brought here for that, he knew that- and what little he remembered, her side had been just, and good...

But she'd simply handed him over- a toy she'd gotten bored with all too quickly. Now that he thought about it, she'd probably just thrown him like bait, taken his memory so he wouldn't blame her.

Maybe he could blame her. He should be allowed to, after all.

"...What can we do, then? I thought this was between the Gods." He might have come across as cynical or pessismistic, but he wasn't trying to be- he honestly wanted to know.

Hmph. He said, annoyed. These "Gods" are but a pair of brats playing with their "toys". Dysley reiterated. Their definition of "balance" is but a mockery on what equilibrium really is. He raised his punch, giving emotion to what he said. They are balancing themselves, but what about the mortals doing their battles for them, resolving each and every "conflict" they throw upon themselves, us?!

The always tranquil, elderly man was beginning to let loose his true emotions, thoughts. What are you, what are *we* fighting for!? He approached Noctis, grabbed him by his shirt's neck area and began shaking him. Answer me this, if you can... He took a deep breath and said; What's behind this "conflict"? Why are they fighting? What do they win by besting the opposite faction? He began to distract himself, to look at the scenery before him, trying to calm his busy mind... Is this similar to a human war? A bloodshed all for nothing? Where blood comes before diplomacy?

Noctis flinched at the close proximity, but otherwise didn't react much to Dysley's manhandling of him all that badly- he didn't make an effort to push the old man off, at least.

"I don't have any more answers than you do. Probably less, in fact..." he half-muttered as a reply, voice low. "I can't even start to pretend I know how they think. I've... been in my fair share of battles, but human war, it... it isn't like this." He bit his lip. "Anytime I chose to partake in a war, there was a purpose, a motive- but, it seems they have nothing to win or lose from the other. They're just trading blows through us and getting nowhere. What reason could either of them have to continue to fight, other than for... for just the hell of it?"

He said this with a sort of dawning realisation; and, for once, didn't take his eyes off of Dysley- not shying away, or avoiding the contact.

"We're not even soldiers. We're pawns. Pets."

We are pawns no more. Galenth Dysley said, in a tone as if he were preparing for a speech. This era of manikins is over. He reiterated. We, the Centralist, *will* bring harmony and discord to an end. We shall bring this world, not to supreme justice, but to justice it *pause* self.We are pawns no more. ( Gah, sorry, I lost my laptop for a bit. Controlling parents. Blergh. )

"...And what if we're disposed of like the Emperor or whatever his name was?" Always the pessimist, Noctis bit his lip. He couldn't help it- he'd never been this dreary and depressing before. Just wonderful. "It doesn't seem as though Cosmos and Chaos would be ecstatic to learn we don't want to comply with this... this stupid cycle. And it's hard to hide things from the Gods."

Predictable answer. He said. There are ways to turn into the shadows of the Gods, to be there, but be invisible at the same time, like a barricade in front of them, blocking their range of vision. There's a reason to everything, yes, even to Mateus' expulsion, if we want to call it that. Dysley's inspired mood changed into a serious one. The Emperor managed to become a deity himself, but only for a short amount of time. Dysley said. He had gathered enough power that Cosmos and Chaos had to join forces to stop him. This... Dysley made a small pause, almost as if he wanted to make some dramatic effect, or to attract Noctis's attention. ...Was the 26th conflict... He lost himself in thought for a short moment, and continued... This is actually the 27th conflict, but the past one was unaccounted, due to a certain someone's influence...Predictable answer. He said. Squall was pacing around nervous. He had been sitting around for a long time just waiting for something to happen. This war has been extremely calm so far. No major battles only a few scuffles on the outskirts of the area. He had only seen two on the side of Chaos and one fellow warrior of light. He stopped pacing and looked out at the area and up at the sky. "Cosmos....what is going on?" He then wondered.... if those fiends over on the side of Chaos weren't active around here they were most likely scheming (more than usual) to do them in. On a whim he picked his gunblade and began to run into the unknown.

"Lord Chaos" Vayne began.

"It has come to my attention that we have 2 possible traitors" said Vayne emotionlessly.

"Noctis and Dysely."

"I trust that you will do something?."

Dysley suddenly felt a million screams going around in his head. He closed his eyes from desperation and felt dizzy. When he opened his eyes, he was in front of Chaos and Vayne. Startled, he suddenly began to hear whispers of what seemed to be the conversation that run down between Vayne and Chaos. Hm, hm, hmmm... he laughed, carelessly. Is there anything His Majesty desires? He said, with a cynical tone and kneeled before them. Of course, I was referring to His Royal Majesty of the Big-Mouthed Kingdom from Far-Far Away.Dysley suddenly felt a million screams going around in his head. "You are not in any position to say so traitor" said Vayne with a smirk. "But very clever. And it should not be me you tarnish or praise it is lord Chaos. Think throughly as to what you have to say. It could mean your life. Of course you could you just tell us how what you are planning with Noctis. Easier, maybe less painful."

Noctis and I are plotting nothing. He said, but in reality, he had said that so, if it ever occurred to Chaos's mind to extinguish him, Noctis would be left, remembering his philosophies and ideologies, eventually leading in the resurrection of the insurrection. But Chaos, according to Dalmascan history, Vayne Solidor usurped the throne of a king and wanted to be more than that. He affirmed, while walking around in circles, trying to abduct Chaos's attention.

"Let us not shift to my shady past and stick on topic" said Vayne nonchantley. "It was for the good of Ivalice. But let us think this way......

Lets say Arachedes is theroritcal Chaos. I was willing to put my life for it. No different than now.

And im sure being a warrior of Chaos yourself must also have some shady past. Afterall, we are the villians" finshed Vayne.

Ruling a make-believe kingdom, something much less tyrannical than your blood-lust past... And present, Vayne. Dysley said.
