Final Fantasy XVI Spoilers Discussion

the more I see of XVI the more I expect that Rebirth will work the same way

towns are exactly how I want them

they just need to add more rewards/exploration content

I like the direction. They just need to add more stuff. That's basically it

collectibles and more rewards

just copy xenoblade

I don't think the design of the areas is dated. It's more the reward structure and exploration

XVI level design is basically what XIII should had been

Also can't believe how great KH's reward structure already was in KH1 or KH2

they already did the thing in 2005 were you can find seperate statboost rewards like in GoW or Elden Ring

getting the ability point items was always satisfying

Finished the game now

This was a fun game

Story was great and so was the voice acting

My gripes with the RPG aspect aside, it's still fun to play thanks to the combat

I do wish there was more to do in the game tho but ah well

I do have one story gripe and I just don't get why it's there when nothing is done with it

I will say though, I do think FF16 has the "better" combat system, I did have tons more fun with FF7R. Mostly because all the enemies in the latter you have to care about movesets, elemental weakness etc and I felt that gave me more of a fun challenge. In FF16 I can just whale on enemies, which can be fun but as an RPG I feel like that part needed to be there.

There's this huge emphasis on each eikon having elemental powers and then it just....amounts to nothing in the gameplay

They all do damage, there is no incentive to change it up based on who you are fighting.

Gonna spoiler tag this part cause I just don't get this

why are they constantly talking about 8 eikons and then never talking or showing the 8th one. Leviathan gets one name drop by Joshua during the Ash segment and nothing more. For a story about Clive's purpose of getting all the eikon powers, they really did nothing with that part. Just baffles me as to why that was a thing.

Ah yeah I forgot to mention the music

It's a great ost in this but I have to say, not my favorite of Soken's work

I found most of the forgettable honestly, but definitely a few standouts

Aw man, Ultima Weapon is tied to NG+

You can't get it in your first playthrough

I thought the one I got was it, I guess not

That's hella lame

I feel like grow to agree with this
Part of the fun of some RPGs is elemental weaknesses and almost a puzzle aspect of encounters

Nothing wrong with XVI's approach, it's really good so far where I'm at!

But yeah VIIR did get that part right at least
